  • Patent number: 4605574
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for forming a uniform, extremely thin film on the surface of plastics molded articles, films, sheets, synthetic paper, fibers, metal, and other objects, the film containing an anti-static agent, anti-fogging agent, anti-corrosive agent, mildewproofing agent, and the like. According to the method of the present invention, a homogenous solution or emulsion is prepared by dissolving a surfactant and agents in a solvent such as water with the aid of ultrasonic waves, and the solution is made into aerosol of fine particles by means of cavitation. The aerosol is brought into contact with an object, whereby the fine particles of aerosol are deposited on the object and a thin film of the solution is formed on the surface of the object due to the difference in surface tension between the surfactant and the object. After evaporation of the solvent, the agents are left on the surface of the object in the form of an extremely thin film.

  • Patent number: 4605193
Abstract: The purpose of this invention is a foldable music stand comprising a lectern or the like, which can be set in an inclined position, a vertical shaft and a folding leg support member. The lectern consists of a backplate and a shelf. The backplate is rotatably connected by a pivot means to the vertical shaft. The shelf of the lectern has a cross section in the shape of L and it is hinged to the lower edge of the backplate and attached by a lever into the vertical shaft. The lectern being in the inclined position or the operational position, a score is placed to rest against the backplate on the shelf. The leg support member is formed in a cross leg having a solid part and a moving part which can be moved in respect of this. The solid part is connected to the vertical shaft in the direction of the lectern. In the operational position the moving part is folded vertically in respect of the solid part.

  • Patent number: 4605578
Abstract: A method of interconnecting first and second material plies, each having one side coated with a thermoplastic material uses pressing means in the form of continuously rotatable pressing rollers and heating means in the form of a heating gas. The marginal edge portion of an uncoated side of the first ply is folded back upon itself to form a pocket along its edge and after a strip of thermoplastic material or a strip having thermoplastic coating on each side is folded lengthwise, it is inserted into the pocket. The marginal edge portion of a thermoplastically coated face of the second ply is then positioned over the folded-over marginal edge portion of the first ply. Thermoplastic material between the folded-over portion of the first ply and the marginal portion of the second ply and between the folded portions of the strip are then heated so that they become thermoplastic and they are pressed together to press the portions to be bonded together.

A retaining member is mounted for radial movement with respect to the friction cylinder. The retaining member has a friction surface which holds back other sheets in the stack and which forms with the friction cylinder a passage gap which is adjusted to the thickness of a sheet to be fed. A carrier is connected to and supports the retaining member. An adjustment mechanism is provided between the carrier and the retaining member for adjusting the passage gap width. A bracket is mounted for radial movement on the carrier and has a contact surface for engaging the friction cylinder or a sheet held in the passage gap. Signal switch is provided in the bracket and is activated by a checking element which is movably mounted to the bracket and engaged with either the carrier or the retaining member.

  • Patent number: 4602402
Abstract: In a sausage stuffing machine if the stuffed portion of a sausage casing bursts, for example in an area which is squeezed for forming a sausage end, the meat filling continues being discharged through a filling tube but is no longer capable of pulling off the gathered-up casing from the filling tube. With the further run of the pump, the sausage meat is spilled. By keeping the gathered-up casing, by means of an advance mechanism, compressed into a "block" and displacing it toward the mouth of the filling tube or toward a braking ring, proportionally to the stuffing of the casing, this advance can be transmitted through a motion transformer, to a pulse generator by which, with a constant advance, pulses are delivered at constant intervals. The pulses are received by a counter which is connectd to at least the drive of a feed pump for the sausage meat. If the casing bursts, the pulse generator stops and no pulses reach the counter.

  • Patent number: 4601960
Abstract: To obtain an efficiency of about 10% in photoelectrochemical solar cells, the pairing of semiconductor material for the working electrode and composition of the electrolyte liquid is of critical importance. The semiconductor material therefore should not be too expensive, and should have a short absorption length for light and be resistant to photocorrosion. Further, a non-toxic electrolyte should be employed permitting operation even without a hermetic seal. The photoelectrochemical solar cell of the invention utilizes a CuInSe.sub.2 or CuInS.sub.2 in a ternary compound, for the semiconductor material, which is used with an iodine-iodide solution as an electrolyte. In a method of fabricating a substrate for such a cell, a surface film is produced on a single-crystal or polycrystalline semiconductor material, particularly CuInSe.sub.

  • Patent number: 4601728
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of preparing material for hot briquetting by pyrolytic decomposition of bituminous coal in mixture with thermally widely stable substances at a temperature of 450.degree. to 530.degree. C., and to a suitable apparatus for carrying out this method. In a travelling bed reactor, the briquetting material is exposed to the pyrolytic decomposition of the bituminous coal component, and is held in continuous mixing and kneading motion. For this purpose, the briquetting material is moved initially in a rotational mixing and kneading motion predominantly at levels parallel to the plane of the axes of rollers of the briquetting press, during which motion it migrates downwardly by gravity at an average speed of less than 3 centimeters per second, whereupon, at the end of this motion, it is uniformly distributed by a rotational motion over the entire width of the rollers.

  • Patent number: 4600186
Abstract: The impact speed of a printed product which is delivered at a rapid rate into a pocket of a rotatable flywheel is reduced by engaging the printed product as it is propelled into the flywheel pocket adjacent its trailing edge. The invention includes a fly delivery wheel which may comprise a plurality of individual flywheel elements each having a plurality of flywheel pockets distributed around its circumference. The flywheel pockets open radially and as the openings of each pocket are moved around during the rotation of the flywheel the printed product is delivered into the opening and it moves at high impact speed into the pocket space. A cam is rotatably mounted adjacent the flywheel and adjacent a ring which is carried on a rotatable shaft and the printed products are delivered between the rotatable cam plate and the ring and into the pocket. The cam plate advantageously includes one or more cams having tips with elastic portions which move during rotation of the cam into close contact with the rings.
