  • Patent number: 7274947
Abstract: A method, components and a system are provided for implementing power control for wireless communication transmissions that provides, inter alia, a remedy for the mismatch of initial transmission power for NRT data by estimating a bias error based and adjusting the transmission power by a compensation amount for an averaged bias error estimation over all data set transmissions, such as sequential Temp-DCH allocations in a UMTS system. An alternative approach for a UMTS system estimates the bias error at a RNC based on an averaged transmit code power measurement by a base station and applies a bias error compensation to the initial DL transmit power at the RNC.

  • Patent number: 7272240
Abstract: A method and apparatus for generating and adjusting a watermark in a watermarking system comprising a watermark generator and a watermark detector includes the watermark generator emitting the watermark. The watermark detector detects the watermark. The watermark detector transmits a signal to the watermark generator. The watermark generator then adjusts the generated watermark based on the signal received from the watermark detector.

  • Patent number: 7270187
Abstract: The invention relates to oil and gas production and can be used for lifting liquid from wells by gas energy. A flying valve includes a tubular body, a detachable element in the form of a body of rotation, and stoppers limiting the penetration of the element into the body. The detachable element or the tubular body or both are made of an oil-resistant material. The inventive method consists in periodically dropping the flying valve under the liquid level in the well to a lower bumper sub and in subsequently lifting the flying valve together with a liquid column which is disposed thereabove. The body and the detachable element are dropped separately, i.e., the detachable element of the flying valve is dropped before the body or vice versa.

  • Patent number: 7272424
Abstract: An interchangeable Gametenna used in conjunction with a wireless telephone to play a game. The Gametenna includes an antenna having at least one radiating element for receiving and transmitting wireless signals, and a memory device which is physically coupled to the radiating element by at least one non-conductive mount which electrically isolates the memory device from the radiating element. The wireless telephone includes a transceiver, a first external interface electrically coupled to the transceiver, a processor and a second external interface electrically coupled to the processor. The Gametenna expands the capabilities of the wireless telephone when connected to the first and second external interfaces. The transceiver receives and transmits wireless signals via the first external interface and the radiating element of the antenna. The processor accesses data stored in the memory device via the second external interface. The data may include instructions for playing a game.

  • Patent number: 7270001
Abstract: A method for ultrasonic measurement of the running time and quantity of a flowing fluid is provided, in which the running time of an ultrasonic signal (70) is measured counter to and in a direction of the flow (5), wherefrom the flow rate of the fluid is determined. Reflections of the ultrasonic signal (70) from particles in the fluid are also detected in order to determine a concentration of particles. A device for carrying out the method includes two ultrasonic transducers which can be switched from a transmission mode to a reception mode. The ultrasonic transducers in the transmission mode transmit ultrasonic signals that are received by the ultrasonic transducers in the reception mode once the signal (70) has penetrated the fluid to be analyzed. At least one of the ultrasonic transducerscan be switched from the transmission mode to the reception mode so that it can receive reflections (E1, E2, E3) of its transmitted signal. Additional transducers can be provided that also receive the reflections.

  • Patent number: 7272169
Abstract: A single, common correlation filter (CF) core is provided in a wireless system using CDMA. A plurality of channels with different data rates are provided in the wireless system. The channels provided in the wireless system include the access channel, the maintenance channel, and the traffic channel in which information (e.g., pilot or data symbols or both) is transmitted at the tier 1, tier 2 and tier 3 rates. The data rate for transmitting the information is programmable by digital signal processor (DSP). A user-unique code, such as a PN code, is applied to the information being transmitted in the channels of the wireless system. The information is QPSK modulated and transmitted in any one of the channels at any data rate. The transmitted information is correlated at the smallest data rate (i.e., the tier 1 rate) in the correlation filter (CF) of the wireless system by time multiplexing delayed versions of the PN code to the correlation filter core.

  • Patent number: 7268731
Abstract: A folded monopole antenna that supports lower and upper frequency bands may be used in CDMA, WLAN, or other wireless communications systems. The folded monopole antenna may be located in a handset next to a vertical ground plane. The folded monopole antenna may be folded at least twice and connected to the ground plane through a reactance. The dimensions of different sections of the folded monopole antenna define lower and upper frequency band characteristics, and an offset location of an input feed affects the bandwidth of the frequency bands. The reactance between the antenna and ground plane can be selected to fine tune the frequency bands. Various input feeds, including a co-planar waveguide, may be employed. Dynamically adjustable reactances may be used in the input feed and ground line for adapting the antenna to various environments.

  • Patent number: 7268464
Abstract: An ultrasonic motor includes an annular stator, a rotor, a rectangular parallelepiped multilayer piezoelectric transducer, a support shaft, three transducers with drivers, a holder for holding the transducers with an elastic plate therebetween, and a leaf spring for urging the holder. The holder having the transducers is inserted into transducer attaching holes arranged at positions where the circumference of the stator is divided into three parts in a state wherein the holder is urged by the leaf spring from the back of the holder. The leaf spring abuts and urges the drivers of the transducer against a hardwearing ring fixed to the outer circumference of the rotor on the side of the internal circumference of the stator. When the transducer is driven so as to excite an elliptical movement produced in the drivers by combining a bending standing-wave vibration with a longitudinal vibration, the rotor is rotated relative to the stator.

  • Patent number: 7266385
Abstract: A wireless communication system and method for controlling transmission power to maintain a received signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) as close as possible to a target SIR. A received quality is maintained as close as possible to a target quality based on block error rate (BLER). When a target BLER is converted to an initial target SIR, an error may occur due to a channel condition mismatch, since the target SIR required for the target BLER varies with channel conditions. An outer loop power control process is used to set a target SIR for each coded composite transport channel (CCTrCH) based on the required target BLER. The process adjusts a SIR step size parameter to maximize the convergence speed of the process.

  • Patent number: 7263261
Abstract: A leached fiber bundle with the light outlet points positioned as accurately as possible is provided, in which the end faces are not completely fused together, but rather are only fused together at their contact surfaces. The interstices formed are permanently filled with adhesives with the aid of a pressure reduction. To protect the optical fibers from mechanical load, adhesives are introduced into the transition region between the fixed end region and a flexible region. This allows the leached fiber bundles to be produced more economically and also improves their service life.
