  • Patent number: 7248567
Abstract: The present invention integrates resource allocation between time division duplex (TDD) and frequency division duplex (FDD) in wireless communication systems. A radio network controller (RNC) receives a radio access bearer (RAB) request from a core network or a wireless receive/transmit unit. The RNC utilizes a TDD-FDD selector to assign radio resources in response to the request. The TDD-FDD selector evaluates various parameters regarding the received RAB request and determines whether it is preferable to assign TDD resources or FDD resources and whether such resources are currently available. Once resources are assigned, system conditions are evaluated to determine whether optimizations may be made to a current resource allocation.

  • Patent number: 7248604
Abstract: In a wireless communication network having a plurality of devices operating at different data rates that contend for access to the network, a method is provided that assigns network access parameters to one or more of the devices so as to control throughput on the network. Examples of network access control parameters are the maximum data packet size and the contention window size. Generally, the network access control parameter for slower data rate users is configured so that they do not occupy the network a disproportionate amount of time compared to faster data rate users.

  • Patent number: 7248698
Abstract: A system for generating pseudorandom codes using a register which contains an identification of the code tree leg of the desired code and a counter which outputs a successive binary sequence. The output from the counter is bit-by-bit ANDed with the output of the register, and those outputs are XORed together to output a single bit. As the counter is sequenced, each count results in a different bit that is output from the XOR gate, resulting in the desired code.

  • Patent number: 7245596
Abstract: A subscriber cluster unit for a wireless telecommunication system provides a wireless interface with a base station for a plurality of subscriber units. The cluster unit has a plurality of frequency agile modems for processing wireless communications with the base station and a plurality of subscriber line circuits, each for providing a telecommunication connection with a subscriber unit. A control processor assigns a modem for each communication between the base station and a selected subscriber unit which is coupled to one of the line circuits and associates that line circuit with the assigned modem for that communication. Thus, a subscriber unit coupled with any of the line circuits can communicate with the base station via any of the modems.

  • Patent number: 7245881
Abstract: An equal gain composite beamforming technique which constrains that the power of the signal output by each antenna is the same, and is equal to the total power of the transmit signal divided by the number N of transmit antennas from which the signal is to be transmitted. By reducing output power requirements for each power amplifier, the silicon area of the power amplifiers are reduced by as much as N times (where N is equal to the number of transmit antennas) relative to a non-equal gain CBF.

  • Patent number: 7243375
Abstract: Provided is protection gear against harmful insects that enables controlling and capturing of harmful insects in addition to protection against harmful insects. The protection gear against harmful insects includes a protection net made of ventilative cloth, woven fabric, or nonwoven fabric, the protection net being worn to cover the head, trunk, arms, hands, legs, and feet of the human body; and a fastener for fastening the protection net to the human body. Since the protection net is coated with an insecticide and/or a repellent, the effect of and insecticide and/or repellent lasts. Also, good durability is ensured since a washing is not required. Even if the sizes of ventilation holes of the protection net are larger than harmful insects, harmful insects can be dissuaded from settling on it. Furthermore, due to comfortable wearability, it can be used as a substitute for pajamas outdoors.

  • Patent number: 7242675
Abstract: A spread-spectrum code division multiple access interference canceller employed by a remote terminal for reducing interference in a direct sequence CDMA receiver having N chip-code channels. The interference canceller includes a plurality of correlators or matched filters, a plurality of spread-spectrum-processing circuits, subtracting circuits, and channel correlators or channel-matched filters. Using a plurality of chip-code signals, the correlators despread the spread-spectrum CDMA signal as despread signals, respectively. The spread-spectrum-processing circuits use a timed version of the chip-code signals, for spread-spectrum processing the despread signals, respectively, with a chip-code-signal corresponding to a respective despread signal. For recovering a code channel using an ith chip-code-signal, the subtracting circuits subtracts from the spread-spectrum CDMA signal, each of the N-1 spread-spectrum-processed-despread signals thereby generating a subtracted signal.

  • Patent number: 7240788
Abstract: A spiral conveyor with automatic flow control includes a plurality of curved segments connected to form a spiral for the flow by gravity of articles from an upper level to a lower level. Each of the segments includes freely rotating skate wheels forming a conveying surface and a controlled, powered cylindrical roller. A sensor mounted in each segment senses the presence of an article in the segment. A controller receives the signals from the sensors and activates the associated roller for transport mode to assist articles through the conveyor if the path is clear, or if the downstream portion of the conveyor is blocked, to reverse the roller for accumulate mode to hold articles in the segment until the path is cleared.

  • Patent number: 7239885
Abstract: A method for initial downlink transmit power adjustment for non-real time services in a wireless communications network begins by estimating an initial downlink transmit power level for non-real-time services. The estimated power level is then compared with a threshold. A determination is made whether an increase in the estimated power level would affect neighboring cells. If an increase would not affect neighboring cells, then the initial downlink transmit power level is adjusted by a predetermined amount.

  • Patent number: 7240233
Abstract: A hybrid serial/parallel bus interface has a data block demultiplexing device. The data block demultiplexing device has an input configured to receive a data block and demultiplexes the data block into a plurality of nibbles. For each nibble, a parallel to serial converter converts the nibble into serial data. A line transfers each nibble's serial data. A serial to parallel converter converts each nibble's serial data to recover that nibble. A data block reconstruction device combines the recovered nibbles into the data block. The data block is employed by a gain controller.
