Abstract: A receiver or an integrated circuit (IC) incorporated therein includes a fast Fourier transform (FFT)-based (or hybrid FFT-based) sliding window block level equalizer (BLE) for generating equalized samples. The BLE includes a noise power estimator, first and second channel estimators, an FFT-based chip level equalizer (CLEQ) and a channel monitor unit. The noise power estimator generates a noise power estimate based on two diverse sample data streams. The channel estimators generate respective channel estimates based on the sample data streams. The channel monitor unit generates a first channel monitor signal including truncated channel estimate vectors based on the channel estimates, and a second channel monitor signal which indicates an approximate rate of change of the truncated channel estimate vectors. The FFT-based CLEQ generates the equalized samples based on the noise power estimate, one-block samples of the first and second sample data streams, the channel estimates and the monitor signals.

Abstract: An adaptive equalizer including an equalizer filter and a tap coefficients generator used to process a sample data stream derived from a plurality of received signals is disclosed. The tap coefficients generator includes an equalizer tap update unit, a vector norm square estimator, an active taps mask generator, a switch and a pilot amplitude reference unit used to minimize the dynamic range of the equalizer filter. A dynamic mask vector is used to mask active taps generated by the equalizer tap update unit when an unmasked signal output by the equalizer filter is selected by the switch to generate an error signal fed to the equalizer tap update unit. A fixed mask vector is used to mask active taps generated by the equalizer tap update unit when a masked signal output by the equalizer filter is used to generate the error signal.

Abstract: A variable valve drive (1) of an internal combustion engine is provided which is used to actuate a gas exchange valve (5). Displacement thereof takes place via a cam (7) generated lift and via a lift generated by a piston (14, 32) of a hydraulic force applying device (4a, 4b), which is superimposed on the cam lift and which is independent thereof. The hydraulic force applying device is connected to a hydraulic fluid line (S-P) which provides an adjustable hydraulic pressure medium and includes a pressure chamber (24a, 24b) which is limited on one side by the piston (14, 32), in addition to a hydraulic valve lash compensation device (23a, 23b) which includes a working chamber (22a, 22b) which is radially defined by a housing (13a, 13b). The housing (13a, 13b) is also used to radially define the pressure chamber (24a, 24b).
Abstract: In the image pickup system of the present invention, factors that have an effect on noise such as the signal level, temperature of the CCD during shooting, exposure time, gain and the like are dynamically acquired, the noise level of the CCD is estimated, for example, for each pixel by a noise estimating unit, and signal components equal to or less than this noise level in the video signals are suppressed by a noise reducing unit, so that a high-quality image that is substantially free of noise is obtained while preserving the edges of the image and the like.
Abstract: A rail used as a torsional stop for the valve train of an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The rail includes spaces (10) which are arranged in a row spaced apart at a distance from one another within the rail (8) and accommodate inserted valve lifters provided as roller tappets (9). Two parallel torsional stop areas (15) are configured on the outer surface of each roller tappet (9) in the form of planar flattened zones in order to secure the roller tappet (9) against rotation about the central longitudinal axis thereof. The torsional stop areas (15) rest against guide areas of the rail (8), which are located inside the associated accommodating space (10).
Abstract: An arrangement for stabilizing the in and out movement of a double walled drawer with a guidance during its movement. Runner systems (110a) are fixed on both sides of the drawer, to precisely control the movement of the drawer as well as supporting it. The stabilizing assembly is mounted on the support bracket (60) of the drawer, specially configured to provide a stabilizing effect.

Abstract: A communication unit comprises a command signal generator for generating a command signal. A transmitter transmits communication signals at one of two frequencies and for transmitting the command signal. A receiver receives communication signals at one of the two frequencies and for receiving the command signal. Upon initiation of the command signal, the command signal is transmitted for receipt by all active units in the system and the unit transmitting the command signal receives communication signals at a selected frequency of the two frequencies and transmits communication signals at another frequency. Upon reception of the command signal from another unit in the system, the unit receiving the command signal transmits a communication signal at the selected frequency of the two frequencies and receives communication signals at the another frequency.
Abstract: The present invention achieves power savings by turning off all or some of the baseband processing for codes and timeslots that have not been transmitted due to full or partial DTX. With respect to partial DTX, the transmitted codes and associated timeslots and radio frames within the shortest TTI in the CCTrCH are determined from the received TFCI. Thereafter, the receiver is turned off for the unused codes as indicated by the received TFCI. With respect to full DTX, following TFCI reception, the receiver is turned off for all timeslots within the shortest TTI.
Abstract: A silent measurement period (SMP) for a selected channel in an allowable channel set (ACS) of the access point (AP) is set. During the SMP, the AP does not serve wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs) within its coverage area and reserves its channels for other BSSs. A normal operating channel of the AP is changed to the selected channel upon initialization of the SMP. Characteristics of the selected channel is measured during the SMP. The operating channel of the AP is changed back to the normal operating channel when the duration of the SMP expires.

Abstract: A hinged guarantee closure is produced by being injection moulded in the closed state, i.e., with a guarantee seal. Abstract: An electrochemical sensor strip is provided. The electrochemical sensor strip includes an insulating substrate having a reaction concavity integrally formed thereon, a cover, an electrochemical reaction layer, and an electrode device. The reaction concavity is peripherally and entirely enclosed by the insulating substrate. The cover partially covers on the reaction concavity by leaving an opening on the reaction concavity. The electrochemical reaction layer is located in the reaction concavity, and the electrode device is located in the reaction concavity for transmitting a signal resulting from an electrochemical reaction performed in the electrochemical reaction layer.
Abstract: A method of signal processing according to one of several embodiments includes estimating a deterministic component of a received signal. The estimating is based on an estimated response of a transmission channel. Based on the estimated deterministic component, a non-deterministic component of the received signal is estimated. Based on corrupted portions of the estimated non-deterministic component, a noise estimate is obtained, and the received signal is compensated based on the noise estimate. A method according to another embodiment includes replacing received samples at corrupted locations with values from a calculated model.
Abstract: A startup process of an access point (AP) includes a discovery phase and an announcement phase. During the discovery phase, the AP detects neighboring APs from its own extended service set (ESS), neighboring APs from different ESSs, and external sources of interference. During the announcement phase, the AP transmits its beacon signals at maximum power in order to accelerate recognition by neighboring APs running the discovery phase. An automatic initialization channel selection process of an AP scans channels the AP will use to communicate. Information of each scanned channel is recorded and a best performance channel is determined for use by the AP.
