Abstract: The quality of coating in autodeposition from solutions in which the coating is predominantly derived from epoxy resins can be improved in two ways, which can be used jointly or separately: A blocked isocyanate is used as cross linking agent for the epoxy resin, and a surfactant that prevents the occurrence of phase separation during drying of the coating is used. Preferably the surfactant is a fluoroaliphatic polymer ester.

Abstract: Mutant B. lentus DSM 5483 proteases are derived by the replacement of at least one amino acid residue of the mature form of the B. lentus DSM 5483 alkaline protease. The mutant proteases are expressed by genes which are mutated by site-specific mutagenesis. The amino acid sites selected for replacement are identified by means of a computer based method which compares the three dimensional structure of the wild-type protease and a reference protease.

Abstract: The cleaned surface of an aluminum or aluminum alloy product, for example, aluminum coil, is treated with a 0.5 to 3 second spray of a chromating bath heated to 40.degree. to 60.degree. C., said bath having a pH of 1.0 to 3.0 and containing 0.1 to 3.0 g/L of tungstate ions and/or molybdate ions, 0.5 to 4.0 g/L of hexavalent chromium ions, 5.0 to 30.0 g/L of phosphate ions, and 0.05 to 2.0 g/L of free fluoride ions. A highly corrosion-resistant, highly paint-adherent chromate coating can thereby be formed on the surface of aluminum in less time than that required by prior phosphoric acid-based chromating treatments.

Abstract: A piston diaphragm pump operable for delivering doses of liquids such as surfactants, or wetting agents, for example, includes a pump piston that is reciprocally moveable within a pump tube that encloses a pump pressure chamber. The pump piston is electromagnetically driven against the force of a return spring by a magnetic coil that surrounds the pump tube. In addition, a pump diaphragm is rigidly clamped about an inner circumference to a portion of an upper end of the pump piston. The outer circumference of the pump diaphragm is rigidly clamped about its periphery between upper and middle housing sections. One side of the diaphragm faces a suction chamber, and the other side faces a pressure chamber. A longitudinal bore, that encloses a pump piston provided with a piston valve, extends centrally through the pump diaphragm and links the pressure chamber to the suction chamber.
