  • Patent number: 4362259
Abstract: Apparatus for stepwise transport of exposed and developed photographic films through a copying machine so as to place selected film frames, namely those film frames which are to be imaged onto photographic paper and are designated by holes or other types of indices, into register with the copying station has two photoelectronic detectors the first of which transmits signals to the forward input and the second of which transmits signals to the reverse input of a forward and reverse counter in a circuit which regulates the speed of the film transporting motor. The second detector is located downstream of the first detector and both detectors transmit signals on detection of indices denoting the film frames to be copied.

  • Patent number: 4360138
Abstract: Apparatus for removing backing strips and exposed films from drop-in cassettes wherein the window for the foremost unexposed film frame is located in front of an opening for observation of symbols on the backing strip has a pusher which is movable through the opening to expel the leader of the backing strip through the window and into the nip of two first advancing rollers which introduce the leader into a first channel for entry into a collecting receptacle. The leader of exposed film is stripped off the backing strip by a deflector and enters a second channel to advance into the nip of two second advancing rollers and to be transported to a splicing station for connection to the trailing end of the preceding film. The pusher can enter a circumferential groove of one first advancing roll and the other first advancing roll has a shallower groove for a finger which directs the leader of the backing strip into the first channel.

  • Patent number: 4358805
Abstract: A photographic still provided with a magnetizable coating is inserted into a recording/playback device provided with a movably mounted head unit having a set of heads. A rotary motor drives an endless belt in a single direction, the upper and lower runs of the belt always travelling in opposite directions. The head unit is alternately coupled to the upper and to the lower run of the belt, for travel in one and then the opposite direction. Upon each reversal of the travel direction of the head unit, a successive one of the magnetic heads is activated, so as to track a meandering track on the magnetic coating.

  • Patent number: 4354747
Abstract: A digital circuit is described for controlling functions of a camera wherein the circuit is powered by a potential source which is connected to the circuit through a relay actuated switch. The circuit employs a plurality of D-flip flops to regulate functions such as film transport and opening and closing of the camera shutter as a function of the light intensity of the scene being photographed. A reset signal generator is used to provide stable and reliable control over the starting condition of the flip flops and render the circuit insensitive to voltage transients as may occur from contact bounce effects at the relay actuated switch. The reset signal generator employs an inverter delay chain to provide like reset pulses when such contact bounce occurs. Various control features are described.

  • Patent number: 4352448
Abstract: Apparatus for drying sheets of photographic material has a group of parallel lower horizontal shafts and a group of parallel upper horizontal shafts which are staggered with reference to the lower shafts. All of the shafts extend transversely of the direction of travel of sheets therebetween and carry elastic rollers which engage and advance the sheets. Certain shafts carry holders for U-shaped guide members which flank the path of the sheets between the rollers on the upper and lower shafts and prevent the leaders of the sheets from curling into the spaces between the upper or lower shafts. The distance between the axes of two neighboring lower or upper shafts is at least 2D and the distance between the upper and lower guide members is less than D, wherein D is the outer diameter of a roller.

  • Patent number: 4351497
Abstract: A motion-picture film cassette has a pay-out spool and a take-up spool mounted coaxially, but at opposite sides of a divider wall. Film travels in one direction through the wall from the pay-out spool to the take-up spool. An anti-reversing device is provided to prevent reverse movement of the film and/or spools; it includes an annulus of holes in the wall, surrounding the axis of the spools, and a resiliently yieldable finger projecting from that surface of the take-up spool which faces the wall. The finger ratchets over the holes when the take-up spool turns in take-up direction but engages in a respective one of the holes to block reverse movement when the take-up spool attempts to turn in the opposite direction.
