Abstract: Disclosed is graphically representing each of a number of measurement data sets as a variation of at least one parameter, wherein each measurement data set results from a measurement, by: [A] selecting a plurality of the measurement data sets to be graphically represented, [B] graphically representing one of the selected measurement data sets as a primary measurement data set in a first graphical style, and [C] graphically representing each one of the at least one remaining selected measurement data sets as secondary measurement data set in a graphical style deviating in at least one feature from the first graphical style. Upon a first change request, a different one of the selected measurement data sets is graphically represented as the primary measurement data set in the first graphical style, and continuing with [C].

Abstract: A method of making a microarray apparatus with enhanced feature detectability provides for accurate detection of each feature location, regardless of the quality or quantity of signals from hybridized oligomer test probes. The method comprises separately providing a control probe or stilt and an oligomer test probe at each feature location on the microarray, such that each feature comprises a control probe and a test probe. The control probe comprises a sequence of nucleic acids unique to the control probe. The control probe is labeled with a label that emits a control signal. The oligomer test probe is labeled with a test label that emits a test signal distinguishable from the control signal. When the microarray is hybridized and interrogated, the control signal indicates the location of each and every feature on the array and the test signal indicates the location of hybridized oligomer test probes.
Abstract: Methods, systems and computer readable media for quantifying and removing offset bias signals in a chemical array data set having one or more channels. In one embodiment, for each channel of data in the data set, a first set of features is selected from the data set. Surface intensities are calculated for features in the first selected set of features and surface intensifies of features not in the first selected set are calculated from the calculated surface intensities. A second set of features is selected, the intensity values of which are within a range of correspondingly located surface intensity values defined by upper and lower threshold intensities. Secondary surface intensifies are calculated for features in the second selected set of features and secondary surface intensities for all other locations on the array that were not locations corresponding to the features having secondary surface intensities calculated therefore, are calculated.

Abstract: A system and method of operating a data processing system to provide feature extraction from an image obtained from a plurality of chemical arrays is disclosed. The method includes bifurcating processing of the image by performing image processing and post-processing. The image processing includes processing parts of the image, each part corresponding to a different one of the arrays, in an automated batch process, to produce image-processed outputs that are different from the image and contain information extracted from the image. The post-processing includes processing the image-processed outputs according to different post-processing protocols with respect to different ones of those parts of the image corresponding to at least two of the arrays, to produce post-processed outputs. The method includes outputting at least one of the image-processed outputs and/or at least one of the post-processed outputs.

Abstract: Methods for producing data for a partially saturated pixel produced during scanning of a chemical array are provided. In general, an analog signal for a partially saturated pixel is sampled to obtain a set of non-saturated digital signals and a set of saturated digital signals. The saturated digital signals are then processed to produce data for the pixel. Also provided are computer program products comprising programming for performing the subject methods, and a chemical array scanner containing this programming. The invention finds use in a variety of different applications, including both genomics and proteomics applications.
Abstract: A generalized printhead control model is provided herein as a basis for configuring printhead control software that will operate any selected printhead or group of printheads. The subject model covers a hierarchy of classes for the attributes of software that controls the printheads in a system, such as for producing a biopolymer array.

Abstract: Methods for evaluating a pixel signal produced during scanning of a chemical array are provided. In general, the methods involve producing at least two analog signals for a pixel using a multi-gain signal detection system, integrating at least one of these signals, and outputting data representing the pixel. Also provided are systems and computer program products for performing the subject methods, and an array scanner containing these systems and program products.
Abstract: A handling unit that comprises a first clamping element and a second clamping element, and an actuation mechanism adapted for driving at least one of the clamping elements. When the at least one of the clamping elements is driven to a first position, a microfluidic device may be placed between the clamping elements or taken out of the clamping elements, and when the at least one of the clamping elements is driven to a second position, the microfluidic device is gripped and fastened by the clamping elements.

Abstract: A side wall 35 that extends in the axial direction enclosing the plasma in such a way that expansion of plasma to the sides is prevented at the back surface of a skimmer cone 33 and a small collision chamber 36, which is positioned at the back side of this side wall 35 and is defined by a flat part 56 of a first electrode 53 having an opening 57 through which the ion beam can pass. By means of this small collision chamber 36, the pressure inside the chamber rises without introducing additional gas; therefore, argon ions are neutralized by collision and recombination between the ions and electrons and the ion density of the plasma is reduced. Thus, the beam diameter during ion extraction and transport is maintained relatively small.
Abstract: A medium is provided, being adapted to be applied in electrophoretic separation of nucleic acids. The medium comprises a staining reagent adapted to stain nucleic acids. Said medium further comprises a urea derivative, adapted to interact with said staining reagent and thereby providing an enhanced staining of said nucleic acids. Further, an electrophoresis device is provided, adapted to perform electrophoretic separation of nucleic acids, comprising the before medium and comprising electrodes for applying an electrical field across the medium. A method to perform electrophoresis using the before electrophoresis device and medium is provided.
Abstract: Representative embodiments are directed to systems and methods for processing training data for a statistical classification application. In one embodiment, confidence values are calculated for training data elements to identify the probabilities of the training data elements belonging to identified classes. An interactive scatter plot is generated using the calculated confidence values. The scatter plot visually indicates the confidence values of points in the scatter plot. Accordingly, the user is able to identify potentially misclassified training data elements. The user may select training data elements from the scatter plot and reclassify training elements as appropriate. Upon reclassification, the confidence values may be recalculated and the scatter plot revised.
Abstract: Two or more receivers in a plurality of receivers are selected and the signal data from each receiver obtained. A cross-correlation of signal data is computed for each receiver paring in the selected receivers. The results of each cross-correlation are then combined and mapped into a graphical indicator function. The graphical indicator function generates a visual representation of location information using the results of each cross-correlation computation. The visual representation is then displayed to a user. Additional location information may also be simultaneously displayed with the visual representation or upon command.

Abstract: A Method and Apparatus for Enhancing the Speed of Wideband Signal Search Systems provides a system that can perform hyper fast scanning for signals while at the same time provide very good phase noise performance. The method and apparatus provide a way to reduce costs by avoiding the expensive solutions employed by the unmodified prior systems. The method and apparatus have all of the abilities of standard wideband signal collection systems. Secondly the method and apparatus are able to automatically, and extremely quickly, control multiple VCO's in a finely coordinated tuning process. Thirdly, the method and apparatus still have very good phase noise performance, even though it has hyper fast tuning speeds. Fourthly, the preferred method and apparatus pipeline the digitization and tuning phases of the collection process.
Abstract: A traffic information sensor system includes an image acquisition device to generate video images of a traffic scene. The system also includes an image detection device to extract traffic information from the video images in connection with the lane position information of the traffic scene. The system also includes an information transfer device to transmit the extracted traffic information instead of the video images to a traffic management center. A traffic information detection method and system is also described.
Abstract: A method for providing defined mixtures of nucleic acids is described. In certain embodiments, the method uses oligonucleotide probes attached to a solid support as a sequence-specific affinity agent to isolate and facilitate the amplification of defined nucleic acid fragment mixtures.
Abstract: A method is presented where the phase trace is offset for each sweep such that the first point is always at zero degrees. The resulting traces are then averaged. The average reduces the noise in the phase trace and results in a less noisy group delay trace.
