  • Patent number: 7468992
Abstract: A signal processing system which discriminates between voice signals and data signals modulated by a voiceband carrier. The signal processing system includes a voice exchange, a data exchange and a call discriminator. The voice exchange is capable of exchanging voice signals between a switched circuit network and a packet based network. The signal processing system also includes a data exchange capable of exchanging data signals modulated by a voiceband carrier on the switched circuit network with unmodulated data signal packets on the packet based network. The data exchange is performed by demodulating data signals from the switched circuit network for transmission on the packet based network, and modulating data signal packets from the packet based network for transmission on the switched circuit network. The call discriminator is used to selectively enable the voice exchange and data exchange.

In another embodiment, the node further comprises a plurality of interface circuits and a switch. Each of the plurality of interface circuits is configured to couple to an interface to receive coherency commands from other nodes. The switch is configured to selectively couple the plurality of interface circuits to the memory bridge to transmit the coherency commands to the memory bridge.

  • Patent number: 7468965
Abstract: According to the present invention, the bandwidth of a TDD channel is increased where multiple slave devices communicate with a master device over the channel. According to an aspect of the present invention, the master device can increase channel bandwidth by utilizing available transmit slots that occur during receipt of a multi-slot packet from a slave device. For example, the master device receives a first packet at a first frequency from a first slave via the channel. The master determines whether the first packet is a multi-slot packet, and if so, transmits a second packet to a second slave via the channel at a second frequency different from the first frequency. The second packet is transmitted after receipt of the first packet, but prior to the end of the first packet.

  • Publication number: 20080310559
Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed to recover at least one information payload from a frame and/or to configure one or more reception parameters to receive a future frame to support RIFS. A physical layer device (PHY) receives at least a training sequence embedded in the frame of a transmitted communication signal using a receiver filter bandwidth corresponding to a variable filter training sequence bandwidth. The PHY determines an amount of gain necessary to recover an information payload embedded in the frame based on the recovery of the training sequence. The PHY determines an amount of gain necessary to recover an information payload embedded in the frame based on the recovery of the preamble. A previous communications receiver gain is adjusted by the difference between the amount of gain necessary to recover the information payload and the previous communications receiver gain.

  • Publication number: 20080313738
Abstract: A system and method for the multi-stage analysis of incoming packets. Three stages are used, each of which addresses a particular category of threat by examining the headers and/or payload of each packet (“deep packet inspection”). The first stage detects incoming viruses or worms. The second stage detects malicious applications. The third stage detects attempts at intrusion. These three stages operate in sequence, but in alternative embodiments of the invention, they may be applied in a different order. These three stages are followed by a fourth stage that acts as a verification stage. If any of the first three stages detects a possible attack, then the packet or packets that have been flagged are routed to a central verification facility. In an embodiment of the invention, the verification facility is a server, coupled with a database.

  • Patent number: 7466773
Abstract: An iterative decoder for use in a WLAN includes an inner decoder/detector, a first subtraction module, a deinterleaving module, an outer decoder, a second subtraction module, an interleaving module, and a determining module. The inner decoder/detector determines inner coded bits and extrinsic information of the inner coded bits from symbol vector based on a channel matrix and inner extrinsic information feedback. The first subtraction module subtracts the inner extrinsic information feedback from the extrinsic information of the inner coded bits. The deinterleaving module deinterleaves the output of the first subtraction module to produce deinterleaved inner extrinsic information. The outer decoder determines outer coded bits and extrinsic information of the outer coded bits from the deinterleaved inner extrinsic information. The second subtraction module subtracts the deinterleaved inner extrinsic information from the extrinsic information of the outer coded bits.

  • Patent number: 7466249
Abstract: A conversion circuit increases a gain of an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) preamplifier by minimizing a common mode offset voltage between an input signal and a reference signal. The feedback controller circuit calibrates an input common mode voltage to mitigate a common mode offset voltage. Reduction of the common mode offset voltage increases the gain of the ADC preamplifier. In an example, the method is executed during a hold phase of a track-and-hold circuit that transmits the input signal to the ADC.

  • Patent number: 7466751
Abstract: A method and a system for providing ISI compensation to an input signal in a bifurcated manner. ISI compensation is provided in two stages, a first stage compensates ISI components induced by characteristics of a transmitter's partial response pulse shaping filter, a second stage compensates ISI components induced by characteristics of a multi-pair transmission channel. First stage ISI compensation is performed in an inverse response filter having a characteristic feedback gain factor K, during system start-up. Second stage ISI compensation is performed by a single DFE in combination with a MDFE operating on tentative decisions output from a Viterbi decoder. As the DFE of the second stage reaches convergence, the feedback gain factor K of the first stage is ramped to zero.
