Abstract: A state machine and an external interface, including its associated input-outputs (IOs), are always powered on and used to manage the chip power modes and power mode transitions. The chip power modes are defined as RUN, HIBERNATE, POWERDOWN, with many more possible with this invention. For example, once the device is in HIBERNATE or POWERDOWN modes, the power supplies to the IC are either reduced, or completely disconnected except for this controller state machine. This invention's state machine and control mechanism, in response to some external “wake up event”, will bring the chip to RUN mode by managing the state of the external power supplies through its control interface. The implementation achieves small die size and extreme low power consumption.

Abstract: A system and method for allowing flexible associations between PHY devices and MAC devices in a point-to-multipoint communications system, such that a given upstream channel is not deterministically bound to a particular MAC device. An upstream MAC device may connect to a varying number of PITY devices depending on configured PHY capacity. Upstream service flows are kept intact by noting Service identifiers (SIDs) of each burst received at a PHY device. A burst is then directed via a switching infrastructure to the appropriate MAC on the basis of the SID.

Abstract: A self servo writing disk controller detects a plurality of spiral sync marks and a plurality of spiral bursts corresponding to one of a plurality of servo spirals from a read signal from the read/write head. A timing reference signal is generated based on timing of at least one of the plurality of the spiral sync marks. A position error signal is generated based on timing of at least one of the plurality of spiral sync marks and a magnitude of at least one of a plurality of spiral bursts. The timing reference signal and the position error signal are used by the disk drive for timing and positioning in self writing initial servo wedges to the disk.

A servo write module writes the servo data on the disk.
Abstract: A method and system are provided for processing an extrapolated signal including a number of consecutive replacement frames. The method comprises attenuating a portion of the extrapolated signal when the extrapolated signal reaches a predetermined duration. The attenuating produces an output signal having an attenuated portion, wherein the output signal includes the number of consecutive replacement frames. Each of the consecutive frames within the attenuated portion is attenuated by applying an attenuation window with a starting magnitude value of approximately 1 and including a unique ending magnitude. The unique ending magnitudes decrease over time.
Abstract: A reduced emission transmitter may comprise an encoder partitioned into at least a group of odd encoder processing cells and a group of even encoder processing cells. A DAC may be partitioned into at least: a group of odd DAC processing cells for processing outputs of the group of odd encoder processing cells, and a group of even DAC processing cells for processing outputs of the group of even encoder processing cells. The reduced emission transmitter may further comprise an aggregator that aggregates the outputs of the odd DAC processing cells and the outputs of the even DAC processing cells to generate a reduced emissions analog DAC output. At least one clock generator is provided, which generates a first clock signal and a second clock signals that clocks the even encoder processing cells, and the odd encoder processing cells respectively. The second clock signal is a delayed version of the first clock signal.
Abstract: A system and method for displaying frames with dynamically changing display parameters is described herein. The display engine stores new display parameters detected by the decoder in one buffer of a ping pong buffer, while continuing to use another set of display parameters stored in the other ping pong buffer. The display engine switches the buffers when the first frame for which the new display parameters are applicable is to be presented.
Abstract: Presented herein are systems and methods for integrating secure identification logic into cell phones. A registration is received, wherein said registration includes an identifier identifying a mobile terminal. Information is transmitted to the mobile terminal, wherein a password is a function of the information.
Abstract: A wireless terminal receives an operation request from a user and accesses a plurality of location based access rules based upon the operation request, each location based access rules including a location parameter and corresponding authentication requirements. A location of the wireless terminal is determined. A location based access rule from the plurality of location based access rules is selected based upon the location. The wireless terminal prompts the user to meet the corresponding authentication requirements. When the user meets the corresponding authentication requirements of the selected location based access rule, the wireless terminal satisfies the operation request. When the user does not meet the corresponding authentication requirements of the selected location based access rule, the operation request is denied. In an alternate embodiment, access to the requested operation is either granted or denied based upon the location of the wireless terminal.
Abstract: A network device is provided which includes a device input, at least one port, a frequency doubler, a data I/O device, and a programmable delay locked loop. The frequency doubler is coupled to the input and configured to receive an input signal and output an output signal having double the frequency of the input signal. The data I/O device is configured to output data based upon a reference clock signal. The programmable delay locked loop is coupled to the device input and configured to receive an input signal and to automatically output an output signal being a predetermined amount out of phase from the input signal. An external clock signal received at the device input is input to the frequency doubler. The output of the frequency doubler is input to the data I/O device as a reference clock. Data (e.g., from internal device logic) is output from the data I/O device to the at least one port.
Abstract: Iterative data-aided carrier CFO estimation for CDMA systems. Any communication receiver may be adapted to perform the iterative data-aided carrier CFO estimation. The iterative data-aided carrier CFO estimation is performed using a high accuracy method. The operation may be described as follows: a received signal is despread and buffered. Using the received preamble sequence, an initial estimate of the CFO is obtained. This estimate is used to correct the whole despread data. The corrected data using the initial CFO estimate is sliced. Each despread data symbol is divided by the corresponding sliced data decision. The obtained sequence is then averaged across different codes to obtain a less noisy sequence, which is then used to estimate the CFO again. The procedure can be repeated (iterated) to obtain a more accurate carrier frequency offset estimate; the number of times in which the procedure is repeated may be programmable or predetermined.

Abstract: A dual link receiver terminates, recovers, channel aligns, and link aligns a plurality of primary link channels and a plurality of secondary link channels. The plurality of primary link channels and the plurality of secondary link channels are each received, bit recovered. synchronized, decoded and channel aligned. Then, the plurality of primary link channels and secondary link channels are link aligned. Link alignment operations first determine a relative misalignment between the plurality of primary link channels and the plurality of secondary link channels. A primary link delay is then applied to the primary link channels and a secondary link delay is then applied to the secondary link channels. A difference between the primary link delay and the secondary link delay is based upon the misalignment between the plurality of primary link channels and the plurality of secondary link channels. An enabling circuit precludes an incorrect blanking period indication.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for detecting temporary high level impairments, such as noise or interference, for example, in a communications channel, and subsequently, mitigating the deleterious effects of the dynamic impairments. In one embodiment, the method not only performs dynamic characterization of channel fidelity against impairments, but also uses this dynamic characterization of the channel fidelity to adapt the receiver processing and to affect an improvement in the performance of the receiver. For example, in this embodiment, the method increases the accuracy of the estimation of the transmitted information, or similarly, increases the probability of making the correct estimates of the transmitted information, even in the presence of temporary severe levels of impairment. The channel fidelity history may also be stored and catalogued for use in, for example, future optimization of the transmit waveform.
