  • Publication number: 20070288778
Abstract: A state machine and an external interface, including its associated input-outputs (IOs), are always powered on and used to manage the chip power modes and power mode transitions. The chip power modes are defined as RUN, HIBERNATE, POWERDOWN, with many more possible with this invention. For example, once the device is in HIBERNATE or POWERDOWN modes, the power supplies to the IC are either reduced, or completely disconnected except for this controller state machine. This invention's state machine and control mechanism, in response to some external “wake up event”, will bring the chip to RUN mode by managing the state of the external power supplies through its control interface. The implementation achieves small die size and extreme low power consumption.

  • Publication number: 20070286192
Abstract: A system and method for allowing flexible associations between PHY devices and MAC devices in a point-to-multipoint communications system, such that a given upstream channel is not deterministically bound to a particular MAC device. An upstream MAC device may connect to a varying number of PITY devices depending on configured PHY capacity. Upstream service flows are kept intact by noting Service identifiers (SIDs) of each burst received at a PHY device. A burst is then directed via a switching infrastructure to the appropriate MAC on the basis of the SID.

  • Patent number: 7308406
Abstract: A method and system are provided for processing an extrapolated signal including a number of consecutive replacement frames. The method comprises attenuating a portion of the extrapolated signal when the extrapolated signal reaches a predetermined duration. The attenuating produces an output signal having an attenuated portion, wherein the output signal includes the number of consecutive replacement frames. Each of the consecutive frames within the attenuated portion is attenuated by applying an attenuation window with a starting magnitude value of approximately 1 and including a unique ending magnitude. The unique ending magnitudes decrease over time.

  • Patent number: 7308251
Abstract: A wireless terminal receives an operation request from a user and accesses a plurality of location based access rules based upon the operation request, each location based access rules including a location parameter and corresponding authentication requirements. A location of the wireless terminal is determined. A location based access rule from the plurality of location based access rules is selected based upon the location. • Patent number: 7308053
Abstract: Iterative data-aided carrier CFO estimation for CDMA systems. Any communication receiver may be adapted to perform the iterative data-aided carrier CFO estimation. The iterative data-aided carrier CFO estimation is performed using a high accuracy method. The operation may be described as follows: a received signal is despread and buffered. Using the received preamble sequence, an initial estimate of the CFO is obtained. This estimate is used to correct the whole despread data. The corrected data using the initial CFO estimate is sliced. Each despread data symbol is divided by the corresponding sliced data decision. The obtained sequence is then averaged across different codes to obtain a less noisy sequence, which is then used to estimate the CFO again. The procedure can be repeated (iterated) to obtain a more accurate carrier frequency offset estimate; the number of times in which the procedure is repeated may be programmable or predetermined.

  • Patent number: 7308059
Abstract: A dual link receiver terminates, recovers, channel aligns, and link aligns a plurality of primary link channels and a plurality of secondary link channels. The plurality of primary link channels and the plurality of secondary link channels are each received, bit recovered. synchronized, decoded and channel aligned. Then, the plurality of primary link channels and secondary link channels are link aligned. Link alignment operations first determine a relative misalignment between the plurality of primary link channels and the plurality of secondary link channels. A primary link delay is then applied to the primary link channels and a secondary link delay is then applied to the secondary link channels. A difference between the primary link delay and the secondary link delay is based upon the misalignment between the plurality of primary link channels and the plurality of secondary link channels. An enabling circuit precludes an incorrect blanking period indication.

  • Patent number: 7308050
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for detecting temporary high level impairments, such as noise or interference, for example, in a communications channel, and subsequently, mitigating the deleterious effects of the dynamic impairments. In one embodiment, the method not only performs dynamic characterization of channel fidelity against impairments, but also uses this dynamic characterization of the channel fidelity to adapt the receiver processing and to affect an improvement in the performance of the receiver. For example, in this embodiment, the method increases the accuracy of the estimation of the transmitted information, or similarly, increases the probability of making the correct estimates of the transmitted information, even in the presence of temporary severe levels of impairment. The channel fidelity history may also be stored and catalogued for use in, for example, future optimization of the transmit waveform.
