Abstract: Systems and methods for securing a credential generated by or stored in an authentication token during an attempt to access a service, application, or resource are provided. A secure processor receives a credential from an authentication token and securely stores the credential. The secure processor then verifies the identity of the individual attempting to use the authentication token and cryptographically verifies the identity of the server being accessed. The credential is only released for transmission to the server if both the identity of the individual and the identity of the server are successfully verified. Alternatively, a secure connection is established between the secure processor and the server being accessed and a secure connection is established between the secure processor and a computing device. The establishment of the secure connections verifies the identity of the server. After the secure connections are established, the identity of the user is verified.

  • Publication number: 20070241182
Abstract: Systems and methods for binding a smartcard and a smartcard reader are provided. A smartcard is provision to store a first set of credentials for use in traditional transactions such as at a brick and mortar retail store and a second set of credentials for use when performing a transaction using a smartcard reader associated with a user such as an on-line transaction. The user smartcard reader registers with a smartcard issuer server by cryptographically authenticating a secure processor associated with the smartcard reader. As a result of the registration, the secure processor obtains a set of private keys associated with the second set of credentials. When a request for a authorizing a transaction via the user's smartcard reader is received, the smartcard reader cryptographically authenticates itself to the smartcard using a private key associated with a credential to be used to authorize the transaction.

  • Publication number: 20070242647
Abstract: A wireless access point and multiple wireless terminals exchange utilization, status, mobility and reception characteristics. Each wireless terminal generates reception characteristics based on transmissions received from the wireless access point and from other devices in the network. In one operating mode, the characteristics gathered by the wireless devices are forwarded to the wireless access point, and, based on all received characteristics, the wireless access point selects a client device for the relay of communications between itself and another client device. In another mode of operation, the access point selects a relay proxy on a transmission by transmission basis. In response to a request, a servicing client device repeats intercepted transmissions sent by a client device and intended for the access point.

  • Publication number: 20070242673
Abstract: In a wireless communication system, a multi-source data multiplexing system (e.g., a media access control (MAC)) accepts information packets from a plurality of signal sources, evaluates the relative efficiencies of data transmission, and transmits the information packets in provided grant regions for maximum efficiency. The multi-source data multiplexing system may accept any form of information packet from any form of signal source. The system receives a grant region, typically including a transmission time on a data channel, and inserts an information packet into the grant region. The actual information packet placed in the grant region may be one other than the packet for which the grant region was intended. Further, the multi-source data multiplexing system may fragment an information packet and transmit only a portion of the information packet in the grant region.

  • Publication number: 20070242678
Abstract: In conventional packet communications systems, such as MPEG-2, the data stream includes a program clock reference (PCR) so that the receiver decoder can lock on to the data stream. The invention eliminates the need to send the PCR by transferring a data transport rate explicitly in the header of the data packets so that the decoder can use the transport rate as a locking reference and adjust its phase lock loop. The transport rate is carried in the adaptation field as user private data.

  • Publication number: 20070244662
Abstract: A system and method for providing increased manufacturing yield for integrated circuits. Various aspects of the invention may comprise receiving an integrated circuit designed to operate at nominal power supply characteristics. The integrated circuit may, for example, be tested at nominal power supply characteristics to determine if the integrated circuit meets performance requirements at nominal power supply characteristics. If the integrated circuit meets performance requirements at nominal power supply characteristics, then the integrated circuit may designated as such and further processed accordingly. Such a designation may, for example be visible, electronic or procedural. Various aspects of the present invention may also comprise testing the integrated circuit at non-nominal power supply characteristics to determine if the integrated circuit meets performance requirements at non-nominal power supply characteristics.

  • Publication number: 20070243848
Abstract: A single chip radio transceiver includes circuitry that enables received wideband RF signals to be down-converted to baseband frequencies and baseband signals to be up-converted to wideband RF signals prior to transmission without requiring conversion to an intermediate frequency. The circuitry includes a low noise amplifier, automatic frequency control circuitry for aligning a local oscillation frequency with the frequency of the received RF signals, signal power measuring circuitry for measuring the signal to signal and power ratio and for adjusting frontal and rear amplification stages accordingly, and finally, filtering circuitry to filter high and low frequency interfering signals including DC offset. The circuitry further includes a multi-stage mixer that produces current signal outputs from each mixing stage to a subsequent stage thereby avoiding a need for intermediate transconductance and output stages to convert between current signals and voltage signals.

  • Patent number: 7283176
Abstract: Methods and systems for determining fields in a video signal are disclosed. Historic field ID values for a received video signal may be stored and subsequently utilized by a summer and/or a correlator in order to estimate a field ID value for a current field. The summer may sum all historic field ID values and, if the sum is within a determined range, for example, the field ID value for a current field may be estimated based on the sum of the historic field ID values. If the sum is not within the determined range, for example, the historic field ID values may be correlated with an expected field ID value or with an inverted expected field ID value. The correlation may then be utilized to estimate the field ID value for the current field.

  • Patent number: 7282994
Abstract: A differential preamplifier includes an active load with adjustable common-mode output level. The active load includes a transistor pair, a resistor pair, and a current source. The transistor load is employed to provide high gain, low offset, and a large bandwidth for the differential preamplifier. The resistor pair and current source are used to increase the common-mode output level of the differential preamplifier and to bias the transistor load. The current source can be varied to provide an adjustable common-mode output level suitable for driving next stage devices. The active load design allows the differential preamplifier to operate using only low power voltage supplies and with small-sized transistors.

  • Patent number: 7283800
Abstract: An improved adaptive mixer for use in the down conversion module of a wireless transceiver. The adaptive mixer comprises a conversion gain module that is operable to receive a radio frequency signal and to generate an intermediate frequency that is provided to a radio interface in a wireless transceiver. The radio interface is operable to generate a gain control signal and a bandwidth control signal. The gain control signal is provided to a gain control module that is operable to select a combination of load resistance values that will provide a predetermined gain level for the output of the conversion gain module. Bandwidth control logic in the adaptive mixer uses the bandwidth control signal to operably connect a plurality of bandwidth control capacitors to the conversion gain module to control the bandwidth of the output signal.
