Abstract: Servicing an incoming Facsimile (FAX) communication includes receiving the incoming FAX communication by a source telephony bridging device via a source PSTN connection, the incoming FAX communication having an incoming FAX number associated therewith. Based upon the incoming FAX number, the source telephony bridging device determines a user ID in a peer-to-peer Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) network, determines an Internet Protocol (IP) address of a destination telephony bridging device based upon the user ID in the peer-to-peer VoIP network, and determines an outgoing FAX number based upon the user ID in the peer-to-peer VoIP network. The source telephony bridging device, an intermediate packet data network, and the destination telephony bridging device bridge the FAX communication from the source PSTN connection to a destination PSTN connection, the FAX communication directed to the outgoing FAX number.

  • Publication number: 20070182605
Abstract: A voltage domain crossing circuit and method are disclosed. In one embodiment, the voltage domain crossing circuit comprises an AC coupling component, a DC biasing component and a high voltage output amplifier. The AC coupling component receives an input low voltage signal and AC couples and splits the signal into two voltages. The two voltages are then DC biased to a predetermined bias voltage using the DC biasing component. The high voltage output amplifier then amplifies the biased voltages in the high voltage domain yielding a signal in the high voltage domain. Other embodiments of the voltage domain crossing circuit and method are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20070184880
Abstract: A wireless interface device services communications between a wirelessly enabled host and at least one user input device. The wireless interface device includes a wireless interface unit, a processing unit, an input/output unit, and may include a power management unit. The wireless interface unit wirelessly interfaces with the wirelessly enabled host. The processing unit and the wireless interface unit interact to determine when the wireless interface unit has established a link with the wirelessly enabled host. When the wireless interface unit has established a link with the wirelessly enabled host, the processing unit interacts with the input/output unit to direct the input/output unit to output a link established indication. When the wireless interface unit enters a sniff mode or a park mode, a second link established indication may be provided. When the link is taken down or lost, a link non-established indication may be provided.

  • Publication number: 20070183541
Abstract: A radio frequency receiver for discriminating a modulation type to decode a signal field of an encoded signal in a wireless communication system. The radio frequency (RF) receiver receives an encoded signal having a preamble training sequence associated with a frame, the preamble training sequence including the signal field. The radio frequency receive generates at least a first log-likelihood ratio (LLR) stream and a second LLR stream for each of a plurality of sub-symbols for a predetermined portion of the received encoded signal based upon an m-bit wide modulation reference, wherein m represents the bit width of the modulation reference. The first LLR stream and the second LLR stream each include a plurality of LLR values. The plurality of LLR values of the first LLR stream are summed to produce a first cumulative LLR, and the plurality of LLR values of the second LLR stream are summed to produce a second cumulative LLR.

  • Patent number: 7254167
Abstract: A device of dynamic communication of information allows, on the average, non-integer bits per symbol transmission, using a compact code set or a partial response decoding receiver. A stream of selectable predetermined integer bits, e.g., k or k+1 data bits, is grouped into a selectable integer number of bit vectors which then are mapped onto corresponding signal constellations forming transmission symbols. Two or more symbols can be grouped and further encoded, so that a symbol is spread across the two or more symbols being communicated. Sequence estimation using, for example, maximum likelihood techniques, as informed by noise estimates relative to the received signal. Each branch metric in computing the path metric of a considered sequence at the receiver is weighted by the inverse of the noise power. It is desirable that the constellation selection, sequence estimation and noise estimation be performed continuously and dynamically.

  • Patent number: 7254120
Abstract: The present invention provides a data rate controller system for determining the coder used, and hence the data rate, for a plurality of channels in an associated network. Each channel provides statistical information about an associated signal to a central controller (or call/resource manager). The controller considers the information and sends control instructions to each channel for selecting an appropriate coder and/or data rate. The statistical information might include lost-frame rate, jitter, call event discrimination, and system resource utilization. By considering each channel from a centralized standpoint, the network can be optimized according to network capabilities and channel resource capabilities. A profile might also be used where each channel autonomously chooses a coder based upon background noise derived from the source signal.

  • Patent number: 7254183
Abstract: A dual link transmitter constructed according to the present invention employs a single Phase Locked Loop (PLL) to service both a primary link and a secondary link during dual link mode operations. The structure of the dual link transmitter includes both a primary link PLL and a secondary link PLL. The primary link PLL produces a primary link clock and the secondary link PLL produces a secondary link clock. During dual single link operations, the primary link clock is used to service the primary link while the secondary link clock is used to service the secondary link. However, during dual link operations, the primary link clock is used to service both the primary link and the secondary link.

  • Patent number: 7253763
Abstract: An analog-to-digital converter (ADC) disposed in a data reception path to convert data from an analog format to a digital format is switched between two or more power modes to conserve power when data is not being received. ADC stays in a lower power-lower precision mode until an inbound data is detected, at which time the ADC switches to a higher power-higher precision mode to convert the data. Once data conversion is completed, the ADC switches back to the lower power-lower precision mode to conserve power.

  • Patent number: 7254164
Abstract: A Class AB voltage-to-current converter includes a plurality of DC coupled transconductance stages that produce a linearized output and a biasing circuit. The biasing circuit generates a primary bias voltage that is greater than a generated secondary bias voltage. As such, the first transconductance stage becomes active before the second transconductance stage with respect to the magnitude of a differential input voltage, thereby allowing the transconductance of the secondary transconductance stage to be added (or subtracted) from the transconductance of the primary stage to improve the overall transconductance of the Class AB voltage-to-current converter. As each of the plurality of transconductance stages is biased differently from the others, the various transconductance stages are biased on to differing amounts based upon the biasing signals as well as the input signal.

  • Patent number: 7253753
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for performing sampling rate conversion of an audio signal from a first sampling rate to any of a plurality of higher sampling rates using a single set of low-pass filter coefficients. Sampling rate conversion is accomplished by effectively up-sampling, low-pass filtering, and down-sampling the audio signal to generate interpolated output samples of a second digital audio signal at any of a plurality of sampling rates. The sampling rate conversion process includes storing a fixed set of filter coefficients as a plurality of phased subsets of filter coefficients, applying samples of the audio signal to the phased subsets in a rotational manner to generate filtered samples of the audio signal, and selecting and linear interpolating between certain filtered samples to generate samples of the second digital audio signal.
