Abstract: Apparatus for gas jet treatment of moving, continuous multifilament synthetic yarn and a method for cleaning gas jet treatment apparatus are disclosed. A pressurized gas source for the apparatus is selectively disconnected and reconnected to a conduit which supplies a gas jet orifice in a yarn treatment zone. A pressurized liquid is supplied to the conduit when the gas source is disconnected. The liquid is directed forcefully from the orifice into the yarn treatment zone to remove deposits which form during treatment of the yarns.
Abstract: A package for microwaving heating or cooking a food item such as an egg roll, which requires surface browning or crispening, comprises a vented tray, a drapable, liquid permeable, microwave susceptive composite material, draped over the food item, and a film lid covering the tray and conformed to the shape of the food item.
Abstract: An aromatic copolyimide gas separation membrane and the process of using it to separate one or more gases from a mixture of gases are disclosed. The aromatic copolyimide is the condensation product of a aromatic tetracarboxylic dianhydride with a phenylene diamine and a methylene dianiline both of which diamines are substituted with alkyl groups on all positions ortho to the amino groups.
Abstract: The bearing is intended for incorporation in devices effecting linear motions along axles of round section. It comprises a monolithic prismatic cassette and ball chains, disposed inside continuous two-track grooves. These grooves are machined totally in the thickness of the cassette walls, and the non-working sectors of the ball chains are disposed close to the cassette edges and along said edges. The external surface of the cassette is enclosed by the internal surface of the sleeve which is of identical geometric shape. This design makes possible the increase of the number of ball chains disposed in one wall and, hence, of the load-carrying capacity of the bearing.

Abstract: The present invention provides a package suitable for microwave cooking and browning of food items, comprising a microwave susceptive mold containing at least one cavity for containing food items, and a microwave susceptive cover extending over and closing the cavities.
Abstract: Semiflexible aromatic polyimides for preparing gas separation membranes and the process of using to separate at least one gas from a mixture of gases is disclosed. The aromatic polyimides are prepared by polycondensation of aromatic tetracarboxylic dianhydrides with 20 to 80 mol percent of a methylene dianiline which is alkyl substituted on all positions ortho to the amine functions. The remaining diamine constituent is not so substituted.
Abstract: A hinge is provided between bodywork and a door of a motor vehicle. A stationary bracket is fixed to an upright of the bodywork and includes a base with a hole. A movable bracket is fixed to the door and a pin connects the stationary and movable brackets. A torsion bar has a wheel/cam follower for engagement with a cam on a connection element. The stationary bracket, torsion bar, cam follower and connection element comprise a sub-assembly and the cam and cam follower are located intermediate the height of the hinge. The movable bracket includes a boss with an opening. Upon linear movement in a direction parallel to the hinge axis, the boss may be disposed about the pin with a connection element and movable bracket cooperable to prevent relative rotation therebetween whereby accurate assembly is achieved.
Abstract: A heat exchanger with a multiplicity of generally vertical heat transfer tubes has an improved liquid distribution arrangement in its upper inlet head. The liquid distribution arrangement includes a flow diverting baffle disposed within the inlet head above the tubes, a plurality of flow restricting devices inserted in the upper open ends of the tubes and a dam spaced inwardly from a peripheral region of the upper head for receiving flow from the baffle and providing an overflow reservoir surrounding the upper open tube ends for evenly distributing flow to the upper open tube ends.
Abstract: Flat heather polyester yarns that provide soft pleasing fabrics that can easily be brushed (or napped) to enhance their aesthetics, on account of their unusually low tenacity, that consist essentially of cationic dyeable polyester filaments with homopolymer filaments, and corresponding spin-oriented feed yarns that may be processed into such flat yarns by draw-warping.

Abstract: Manufacture of 5-cyanovaleric acid and its esters by carbonylation of pentenenitriles from a mixture consisting essentially of pentenenitrile, CO and at least one compound of the formula R'OH, where R is hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms.
Abstract: There are disclosed a recombinant interleukin-2 composition consisting essentially of water, recombinant interleukin-2, and optionally a polyol, said composition having a specific activity of at least about 120,000 units/mg and a process for preparing it by heating a suspension of the interleukin-2 at a specified temperature.
Abstract: A method is provided for inhibiting onset of or treating anxiety by administering an ACE inhibitor, such as captopril, fosinopril, zofenopril or SQ 29,852, alone or in combination with a calcium channel blocker such as diltiazem or nifedipine, over a prolonged period of treatment.
Abstract: A touch screen overlay for use on the viewing surface of a visual display device formed from a flexible membrane laminate having improved conductor durability. The flexible laminate comprises first and second flexible substrates formed of transparent polyester material. An array of parallel transparent conductors is deposited on a surface of each flexible substrate. The two flexible substrates are joined together by an adhesive sheet of polyester material. The substrates are joined so that transparent conductors are deposited on the surface of each flexible substrate which faces away from the viewing surface when the overlay is attached to the visual display device. The two arrays, when so superimposed, form a grid-like pattern, separated by the thickness of the upper one of the flexible substrates and the adhesive sheet. A third flexible substrate also formed of polyester material covers the surface of the upper one of the other flexible substrates carrying the upper array of parallel conductors.
Abstract: A D to A converter comprising a series of stages each including a current mirror having an input and an output transistor (Q1 and Q3) and a current adjusting transistor (Q2, Q4) connected in parallel with each input and output transistor for adjusting the output current from the current mirror as a function of the operating states of the current adjusting transistors. The operating state of each current adjusting transistor is controlled by a digital signal applied to a switch (Q2S, Q2S') connected to the gate of each current adjusting transistor. Each stage also includes a control circuit (Q1C, Q3C) for maintaining equal the drain voltages of its input and output transistors whereby the current changes introduced in the output current of the converter stage are functions of the relative geometric sizes of the input, output and current adjusting transistors comprising the converter stage.
Abstract: The use of tricholine phosphate, tris [(2-hydroxyethyl) trimethylammonium] phosphate as a surface treating agent employed during the manufacture of printed wire boards, semiconductors and the like, particularly as a stripper for photoresists and as a cleaner for silicon wafers, furnace tubes and the like.
Abstract: An electrooptic deflector composed of a plate made of a material with a refractive index which can be modified by the application of an electrical field, whereinto a collimated optical beam can be injected in direction parallel to the electrodes deposited on a plate face. Said electrodes are parallel to one another, equally-spaced and separately connected to voltage sources apt to increase the refractive index in the material passing from an electrode to the next. The emerging optical beam is deflected in the direction wherein the refractive index increases.
