Abstract: A cooking hob of small thickness for built-in assembly into cabinets, constituted by a box casing in which are disposed one or more gas burners which, with the aid of suitable ceramic blocks, constitute a like number of heat-insulating rigid bridges for connection between the upper drip plate and the lower plate or base of the box casing, and further comprising devices for quick coupling to the cabinet, constituted by a U bracket which encloses a threaded pin, and which during tightening moves from a disengagement position to an engagement position.

Abstract: Oligomeric formal diols are prepared by coupling segments of PTMEG, each having a molecular weight of 1000-3000, with formaldehyde. The formal diols are useful in preparing polyurethanes.

Abstract: Preparation of an electrically conductive pattern by adhering a prolonged tack toner which is activated by heating to the toner-receptive image areas of an inert substrate, the temperature is reduced and to the activated toner is applied a prolonged tack toner having conductive metal particles and glass frit as components; optionally the steps of heating, temperature reduction and toner application are repeated at least one time, and then the toned image is burned and fired. An electrically conductive pattern is obtained which is useful, for example, as an electric circuit. The process is also useful in the application of resistor and dielectric materials.

Abstract: A telemetering system useful for telephone installations. A normally open switch is placed between the line and telephone set. A ringing signal permits sensing apparatus to deliver a coded message to the line between the first and second rings, and the normally open switch is closed before the second ring. Ordinarily calls are delayed for the period of one ring and calls seeking data collection are disconnected before the normally open switch closes. Alternatively data may be delivered to a station associated with the telephone set.

Abstract: Direct positive photographic elements with improved spectral sensitivity in the green and red portion of the visible spectrum are obtained from emulsions containing a supersensitizing amount of a spectral sensitizing dye (a) having a solution absorption maximum less than 495 nm and the lowest vacant energy band less than -3.7 eV, and a sensitizing amount of a spectral sensitizing dye (b) having a lowest vacant energy band between -3.7 eV and 0.3 eV below the lowest vacant energy band of said spectral sensitizing dye (a) and with the highest occupied energy band between -5.9 eV and 0.3 eV above the highest occupied energy level of dye (a).

Abstract: Heat-stable coatings on cookware can be made stain-resistant by including a pigmented brown intermediate layer and a clear topcoat layer containing mica or coated mica platelets for sparkle. Such coatings are particularly suitable for electrical cookware.

Abstract: A seal of the padlock type which has a plastic body with a pair of spaced cavities, and a U-shaped shackle having ends non-removably engaged in the cavities in which the ends in the cavities each have reversely bent portions, forming a bight, and the plastic body is deformed inwardly into the cavity between each of the end portions and the cavity entrance to prevent extraction of the end portions from the openings and to provide a visual indication that the seal has been properly closed.

Abstract: Apparatus for detecting ferromagnetic material such as is present in an explosive cartridge being loaded into a borehole, e.g., according to the method described in U.S. Pat. No. 3,986,430, which includes an inductance coil connected in series with a resistor, separately rectifies and amplifies the AC voltages across the coil and resistor and connects them in series opposition. The value of the balancing resistance is adjusted so that the two rectified voltages are equal and opposite when no ferromagnetic material is present. When the unbalance voltage exceeds a threshold value, a signalling device is actuated.

Abstract: A sedimentation field flow fractionation channel is constructed to have an outer support ring and a continuous inner channel ring mating with the support ring to define the channel. The channel ring has a tension modulus capable of following centrifugally induced expansions of the support ring. The channel ring is weight loaded to facilitate its following support ring expansions.

Abstract: Photopolymerizable compositions are described containing a polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomer, a photoinitiator or initiator system, and selected acidic polymeric binders. The organic binder mixture contains a compound chosen from each of two selected classes. These photopolymerizable compositions yield superior processability, i.e., on developing and stripping, in solely aqueous alkaline media devoid of organic solvents, decreased softness and/or tackiness, and improved adhesion when compared to the prior art. The compositions are particularly useful for preparing photoresists.

Abstract: An improved nozzle is provided for the spinneret pack of an apparatus for flash-extruding a polymer solution to form a plexifilamentary strand. The improved nozzle contains a flared tunnel that is coaxial with and immediately downstream of the extrusion orifice. The tunnel, which has a minimum diameter that is at least four times the diameter of the orifice and a flare angle in the range of 10 to 35 degrees, permits increases in throughput without accompanying decreases in the tenacity of the plexifilamentary strand.

Abstract: Motor vehicle parking apparatus has pallets for vehicles which are arranged next to each other on a movable construction which is drivable so that each pallet can be brought into line with a predetermined position such as a loading position. In order to achieve accurate alignment of a pallet with the predetermined position, a drive control sysem is used which controls operation of the drive in accordance with an evaluated difference between an actual value derived from an increment transmiter and a predetermined theoretical value dependent on the individual pallet to be aligned. Overrun of the predetermined position is corrected by reversal of the drive under control of a correction signal.

Abstract: Acidulated decationized milk containing the same content of proteins and lactose as ordinary milk and having a pH below or equal to 3.8 is prepared by placing milk in contact with a cation-exchanging resin in acid form, said milk having a temperature varying between 0.degree. and 4.degree. C., for the time period necessary to lower the pH of the said milk to a value below or equal to 3.8, and separating the decationized milk from the exchanging resin. The decationized milk is used to prepare acidified milks, milk casein, milk acid curds and lactoserum.

Abstract: The invention relates to a detachable tow bar assembly for use in towing a small boat from campsite to water and return, and involves a pair of bow engageable elements, each adapted to straddle the foremost edge of the bow of such boat, such bow engageable elements being supported in spaced relationship to engage such bow at spaced locations thereon. The supporting apparatus involves a pair of angularly related solid bars, rigidly connected at one end, with each bar hingedly supporting one of the bow engageable elements. The bow engageable elements may be held in pressure engagement against the bow by a turnbuckle anchored at end to one of the rigid bars in proximity to the apex of the angle form between them, while at its other end, the turnbuckle is provided with a hook or similar devices to engage an eye or clevis affixed to the bow of the boat at a location intermediate the position of engagement of the bow by the bow engageable elements.

Abstract: Polyethylene terephthalate resin compositions containing filler or reinforcing agent, a selected sodium or potassium salt of a hydrocarbon acid or a salt of a selected organic polymer containing pendant carboxyl groups, and a selected low molecular weight organic ester, ketone, sulfone, sulfoxide, nitrile or amide. Articles molded from the compositions have high gloss when molded at temperatures below 110.degree. C.
