  • Publication number: 20090113176
Abstract: A programmable processor and method for improving the performance of processors by expanding at least two source operands, or a source and a result operand, to a width greater than the width of either the general purpose register or the data path width. The present invention provides operands which are substantially larger than the data path width of the processor by using the contents of a general purpose register to specify a memory address at which a plurality of data path widths of data can be read or written, as well as the size and shape of the operand. In addition, several instructions and apparatus for implementing these instructions are described which obtain performance advantages if the operands are not limited to the width and accessible number of general purpose registers.

  • Publication number: 20090112395
Abstract: A system for detecting malfunction of a battery in a hybrid electric vehicle and optionally mitigating the battery fault. A neural network forms a diagnostic circuit which receives signals representative of the required driveshaft torque and speed over a diagnostic period and a prior state of charge of the battery at the beginning of the diagnostic period as input signals. The diagnostic circuit generates an output signal representing a difference between an estimated state of charge of the battery at the end of the diagnostic period and the actual state of charge of the battery. In the event that the difference exceeds a predetermined threshold, a battery fault signal is generated. The battery fault signal may be employed to vary the engine speed and/or torque to perform battery fault mitigation by increasing the state of charge of the battery.

  • Publication number: 20090108608
Abstract: Disclosed is a housing with a coin holder for use in a motor vehicle, the housing having a coin holder with a generally vertically aligned coin slot. The coin slot has an arcuate back wall that adjoins a generally planar first side wall to an oppositely disposed and spaced apart generally planar second side wall. The first side wall, the second side wall and the arcuate back wall define a chamber that is dimensioned such that a coin can slide in a generally vertical direction therein. The coin slot also has a throat adjacent to the chamber, the throat having a first flange that extends from the first side wall and a second flange that extends from the second side wall. The first and second flanges define boundaries to a side opening to the chamber, the opening dimensioned such that the coin is retained in the chamber when the coin is aligned in a generally non-vertical orientation.

  • Patent number: 7523957
Abstract: The present invention affords a headrest airbag for reducing or preventing whiplash and/or head injuries related to vehicle collisions. The headrest airbag is comprised of a trim material that encloses a headrest member, a receiving means for receiving an exchangeable gas bag module and an exchangeable gas bag module at least partially inserted into the receiving means. The exchangeable gas bag module is comprised of an inflatable gas bag and a gas generator for inflating the gas bag. The gas bag maintains its location within the receiving means of the headrest airbag whether it is inflated or not. The inflated gas bag reduces the distance that a head of a driver or passenger is thrown in a rearward direction before coming into contact with a headrest, and reduces the force of such an impact.

  • Patent number: 7525002
Abstract: A process for the production of high octane number gasoline from light refinery olefins, typically from the catalytic cracking unit, and benzene-containing aromatic streams such as reformate. A portion of the light olefins including ethylene and propylene is polymerized to form a gasoline boiling range product and another portion is used to alkylate the light aromatic stream. The alkylation step may be carried out in successive stages with an initial low temperature stage using a catalyst comprising an MWW zeolite followed by a higher temperature stage using a catalyst comprising an intermediate pore size zeolite such as ZSM-5. Using this staged approach, the alkylation may be carried out in the vapor phase. Alternatively, the alkylation may be carried out in the liquid phase using the heavier olefins (propylene, butene) dissolved into the aromatic stream by selective countercurrent extraction; a separate alkylation step using the ethylene not taken up in the extraction is carried out at a higher temperature.

  • Patent number: 7523998
Abstract: A quick release device includes a tightening bar having an enlarged head and an actuated end outboard of two fork blades of a bicycle, and a cam member having front and rear ends, and a cam segment interposed therebetween and engaging a cam follower surface of the actuated end such that rotation of the cam segment results in movement of the actuated end between tightening and loosening positions relative to one of the fork blades. A cover includes front and rear walls which defines an accommodation space therebetween for receiving the actuated end and the cam segment. The front and rear ends extend outwardly of the front and rear walls, respectively. A lever includes front and rear lug portions which are coupled respectively with the front and rear ends of the cam member to enable the cam segment to be rotated by a turning movement of the lever.

  • Patent number: 7523978
Abstract: A bus construction has a front entry door assembly with adjacent front and rear panels, wherein the rear panel is wider than the front panel so that the front panel does not block the driver's view to the side rear view mirror when the door is in the open position. The front entry door assembly is disposed in the front portion of the sidewall of the bus that is inwardly tapered to provide easy access into the interior of the bus through the opened panels by a wheel-chair bound passenger. A destination sign is configured in a support spaced from the front windshield to eliminate frost or moisture condensation on the destination sign when the bus is in use. Panels are also provided along the upper edges of the sidewalls of the bus for providing sequential displays advertising. The advertising presentation is protected and viewed through the upper portions of the glass of the sidewall window assemblies.
