  • Patent number: 6915879
Abstract: A gas spring comprising a cylinder body filled with compressed gas and an upright rod passing through a rod side end wall member of the cylinder body. By supporting a main shaft unit with the gas spring, the load on a vertical displacement mechanism is reduced. A pair of upper and lower ring-shaped seal members, which seal between the rod end wall member and the rod, are provided inside the rod wall member. Ring-shaped oil filling chambers are formed in between the ring-shaped seal members and between the rod end wall member and the rod. An oil filling mechanism fills the oil filling chambers with lubrication oil.

  • Patent number: 6917871
Abstract: A power source control method of a car control unit in which control takes place according to the control unit temperature or the control of a semiconductor device in the control unit. The temperature of a throttle device is detected using a thermistor and is compared with the reference temperature. Depending on the comparison result, a relay for controlling the power supply to the throttle device is controlled. When the temperature of the throttle control unit rises higher than the reference temperature, the main power source of the throttle device 1 is interrupted.

  • Patent number: 6915968
Abstract: To enable the inclination of the injection direction and the distribution of the penetration force of spray to be adjusted over a wide range, and an axially symmetrical spray shape to be obtained even when the injection hole is inclined, or the shape of the spray to be changed without inclining the injection hole, a fuel passageway 203 is provided as a swirling force adjustment means between the valve seat 201 and injection hole 101 of the fuel injector. This swirling force adjustment means adjusts the distribution of the swirling force of the fuel flowing into injection hole 101, and thus adjusts the spray shape obtained as a result.

  • Patent number: 6916732
Abstract: A method of forming a plurality of bumps over a wafer. The wafer has an active surface having a passivation layer and a plurality of contact pads thereon. The passivation layer exposes the contact pads on the active surface. An adhesion layer is formed over the active surface of the wafer and covers both the contact pads and the passivation layer. A metallic layer is formed over the adhesion layer. The adhesion layer and the metallic layer are patterned so that the adhesion layer and the metallic layer remain on top of the contact pads. A photoresist layer is formed on the active surface of the wafer. The photoresist layer has a plurality of openings that expose the metallic layer. Flux material is deposited into the openings and then a solder block is disposed into each of the openings. A reflow process is carried out so that the solder block bonds with the metallic layer. Finally, the flux material and the photoresist layer are removed.

  • Patent number: 6914542
Abstract: A method and system for parking aircraft at an airport terminal having a plurality of passenger loading bridges is disclosed. According to the invention, a parking space is defined at the terminal for an aircraft of a known type, such that at least a desired clearance is maintained between the aircraft of the known type and all other aircraft parked at the terminal. To this end, a passenger loading bridge associated with the defined parking space is moved so as to accommodate the known type of an aircraft at the defined parking space while maintaining the at least a desired clearance to all other aircraft parked at the terminal. In particular, at different instances of time for different instances of the known type of an aircraft, the associated passenger loading bridge is moved to substantially different locations to accommodate different defined parking spaces.

  • Patent number: 6913945
Abstract: A method of mounting a chip in which an underfill agent having specific viscosity behavior and a trigger temperature is applied to at least one of a substrate and the chip, bumps are press-contacted to electrodes, the underfill agent is spread around the press-contacted bumps and the electrodes between the chip and the substrate, the bumps are melted by heating while the bumps are embedded in the underfill agent to bond the molten bumps and the electrodes, and in melt-bonding the bumps, a time to wet-spread the molten bumps is kept before the underfill agent is cured. Highly reliable excellent bonding between the bumps and the electrodes can be achieved by thoroughly wet-spreading the molten bumps while secondary oxidation in the underfill agent does not occur, and the time required until the underfill agent is cured to a specified state, and further resultantly, the time required until the press of the chip is stopped can be shortened.

  • Patent number: 6913785
Abstract: A method of forming a wear-resistant reinforcing coating on a substrate, such as concrete, wood, metal or particulate. A reinforcing fiber mat is placed on the substrate and a liquid matrix material is mixed with small colored stones. The mixture of matrix material and stones is poured onto the mat, and the liquid wets the mat and contacts the substrate. After curing, a composite coating is formed with stones as the wearing surface. A membrane can be interposed between the substrate and the reinforcing coating to prevent adhesion and “starving” of the mat.

  • Patent number: 6913216
Abstract: The invention involves a holding mechanism located between and pivoting at two points, the first point at the rotor, and the second point at a location found on the primary bracket. In addition, the invention allows for the holding mechanism and the trip mechanism to be efficiently positioned on the primary bracket side of the rotor such that there are only a limited number of components remaining on the other side of the rotor, thus allowing for the rotor to be designed into a more complex shape, with a lighter weight and with a better balancing. The seizing or binding force during release of the bail wire mechanism is also reduced, since the bail wire, or other extended feature does not separate the holding and release mechanisms. In addition, the holding mechanism being pivotable between the two pivot points provides a smoother and more trip responsive fishing mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6915191
Abstract: A controller determines that an end of train (EOT) has passed a point through the use of positioning systems at the head of the train (HOT) and the EOT. In a first method, the controller obtains the HOT position at a point of interest from the HOT positioning system. The controller then determines when the train has traveled a distance equal to the length of the train and then interrogates the EOT positioning system. If the difference between this position and the position reported by the HOT positioning system at the point of interest exceeds a threshold, then the EOT has passed the point. In a second method, when the HOT positioning system reaches a point of interest, the position reported by the EOT positioning system is integrated until the total distance traveled by the EOT equals the length of the train.
