  • Patent number: 9304905
Abstract: The present invention provides a flash memory controller for mapping the logical addresses to the physical addresses of memory including a plurality of blocks, each having a plurality of pages, wherein the memory controller includes a processor. The processor includes hot page decision unit and an address translation unit. The hot page decision unit classifies pages in each block into hot pages and cold pages based on a predetermined criterion. When there is a plurality of the classified hot pages, the address translation unit respectively arranges the classified hot pages in different target blocks. In accordance with this configuration, upon performing a merge operation, hot pages and cold pages are determined, and the hot pages are respectively distributed to empty blocks, so that concentration of an erase operation on a specific physical block may be avoided, thus wear-leveling may be performed more efficiently.

  • Patent number: 9300434
Abstract: Zero sum signaling schemes utilize coding across data words to allow the use of single-ended buffers while mitigating simultaneous switching noise (SSN) in digital systems. Zero sum signaling may include balanced zero sum coding (target disparity=0) and nearly balanced zero sum coding (target disparity=±d). Zero sum signaling may reduce simultaneous switching noise as compared to single-ended signaling while allowing a reduction in the number of physical channels (e.g. circuit board traces) by nearly a factor of two as compared to differential signaling.

  • Patent number: 9297638
Abstract: An electrically tunable terahertz two-path plasmonic interferometer with an integrated detection element can down convert a terahertz field to a rectified DC signal. The integrated detector utilizes a resonant plasmonic homodyne mixing mechanism that measures the component of the plasma waves in-phase with an excitation field that functions as the local oscillator in the mixer. The plasmonic interferometer comprises two independently tuned electrical paths. The plasmonic interferometer enables a spectrometer-on-a-chip where the tuning of electrical path length plays an analogous role to that of physical path length in macroscopic Fourier transform interferometers.
