Abstract: An amorphous polylactic acid polymer having a weight average molecular weight in the range of about 35,000 to 180,000 is described. The polylactic acid polymer composition can be hammer milled without cryogenics result in the form of particles wherein 90% of the particles have particle size of about 250 ?m or less and the material has a glass transition temperature of between about 55° C. to about 58° C. and a relative viscosity of about 1.45 to about 1.95 centipoise. The polymer composition can be used to form an aqueous suspension. The material is ideally suited for use in preparing particleboard. A method is disclosed for preparing such polylactic acid polymers. The method involves obtaining an amorphous polylactic acid polymer having a weight average molecular weight of between about 115,000 to about 180,000. Treating the polylactic acid polymer to reduce the molecular weight to between about 35,000 to 45,000 such that it has a glass transition temperature of between about 55° C. and 58° C.

Abstract: A solid-state lubricant composition is disclosed. The solid-lubricant contains graphene, an oxide of a metal, and one or more polymeric binders. A method of making a solid-state lubricant coating on various substrates is disclosed. The method includes the steps of making a homogeneous slurry comprising powder of an oxide of a metal, graphene, and a polymeric binder with organic volatile solvent; coating a substrate with the homogeneous slurry with desired thicknesses; and drying the slurry on the substrate naturally or applying additional heat, resulting in a solid lubricant coating on the substrate. Substrates with coated solid composite lubricant show wear reduction and lower coefficient of friction compared with uncoated substrates.

Abstract: Processes to determine the effect of genetic sequence on gene expression levels are described. Generally, models are used to determine spatial chromatin profile from genetic sequence, which can be used in several downstream applications. The effect of the spatial chromatin profile on gene expression is also determined in some instances. Abstract: Methods and devices for transmitting and receiving data through biological tissue using ultrasonic pulses are described. Methods of the present invention may set an initial time-hopping frame length and an initial spreading code length for data transmission. A request-to-transmit may be sent from a transmitter over a control channel at the initial frame and code length. The receiver may respond to the transmitter with a clear-to-transmit packet having feedback information. The feedback information can be used to improve a forward time-hopping frame length and a forward spreading code length. Embodiments of the invention may involve a body area network or body surface network comprising a plurality of implanted sensor nodes operating according to the disclosed invention.
