Abstract: Provided according to embodiments of the invention pharmaceutical capsules that include a capsule body and a capsule cap, wherein the capsule cap envelops an open end of the capsule body to form a capsule core; and an adherence sheath that envelops a portion of the capsule core. Related capsules and methods of making such capsules are also provided herein.

Abstract: Provided is a method for preparing a needle-like sulfide-based solid electrolyte. The method may include: preparing a solid electrolyte admixture comprising an organic solvent, Li2S, P2S5, and LiCl; synthesizing a solid electrolyte by stirring the solid electrolyte admixture at a temperature of about 30 to 60° C. for about 22 to 26 hours; first stirring the solid electrolyte at a speed of about 80 to 120 rpm for about 5 to 10 minutes; after the first stirring, second stirring the first stirred solid electrolyte at a speed of about 250 to 300 rpm; vacuum-drying the second stirred solid electrolyte for about 12 to 24 hours; and heat-treating the vacuum-dried solid electrolyte at a temperature of about 350 to 550° C. for about 1 to 5 hours.

Abstract: A system and method for analysis of 3D deformations and regional function of a heart includes: a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner configured to acquire three tagged volume data series with mutually perpendicular tag lines of a heart; a data storage device in communication with the MRI scanner and configured to store the three tagged volume data series; and an image processing machine in communication with data storage device. The image processing machine is configured to: model an intensity distribution around each voxel of each tagged volume data series as a moving sine wave front with a local frequency and an amplitude; and determine a phase and frequency for each voxel from the local frequency and amplitude and a displacement from a quotient of a phase difference and the local frequency.

Abstract: The invention generally relates to apparatuses for focusing ions at or above ambient pressure and methods of use thereof. In certain embodiments, the invention provides an apparatus for focusing ions that includes an electrode having a cavity, at least one inlet within the electrode configured to operatively couple with an ionization source, such that discharge generated by the ionization source is injected into the cavity of the electrode, and an outlet. Abstract: The invention generally relates to systems and methods for quantifying an analyte extracted from a sample. In certain embodiments, the invention provides methods that involve introducing a solvent into a capillary, introducing the capillary into a vessel including a sample such that a portion of the sample is introduced into the capillary, moving the sample and the solvent within the capillary to induce circulation within the sample and the solvent, thereby causing the analyte to be extracted from the sample and into the solvent, analyzing the analyte that has been extracted from the sample, and quantifying the analyte. In certain embodiments, the quantifying step is performed without knowledge of a volume of the sample and/or solvent.
Abstract: A method for naming a Domain Name System (DNS) for an Internet of Things (IoT) device comprises the steps of: receiving a first message including a DNS search list by a device connected to a network on the basis of Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) protocol; generating, by the device, a domain name including model information and an identifier of the device; performing, by the device, a redundancy check for the domain name on the basis of a neighbor discovery (ND) protocol; and, when the domain name is not redundant, registering the domain name and IPv6 address for the device into a DNS server on the basis of a node information (NI) protocol by a domain name-collecting apparatus connected to the network.

Abstract: The invention provides chemical compounds for binding to a liquid phase cation having the formula R1—SO2—S—R2—SH, wherein R1 comprises a support molecule, such as a polymer, and R2 comprises an alkyl. The polymer may be a crosslinked, polystyrene divinylbenzene copolymer having a plurality of pendant benzyl groups to which the —SO2—S—R2—SH ligand is attached. The alkyl group may be ethyl or propyl. The chemical compound may be used to complex cation lead or mercury, in which the cation is complexed with mercapto-sulfur of the thio-sulfonyl moiety and the terminal mercaptan to form a heterocyclic ring-like geometry incorporating the cation. A method for removing cations from a liquid stream using the chemical compounds of the present invention is also provided.

Abstract: A nerve repair conduit configured to be secured on first and second portions of a selected nerve. The nerve repair conduit includes a polymeric body having a proximal end, a distal end, an exterior surface and an interior surface defining an interior lumen. In addition, the nerve conduit includes at least one drug reservoir to hold agent(s) that may, for example, facilitate nerve regeneration. The drugs diffuse from the drug reservoir(s) into the nerve repair conduit through an outlet (e.g., a semipermeable membrane) in proximity to the first and second portions of a selected nerve. The nerve repair conduit may be configured to deliver the agent(s) at a rate having substantially zero-order kinetics and/or at a constant rate over a selected period of time (e.g., at least 1 week).

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a semiconductor device with an improved doping profile is provided. The method includes providing a measuring target including a first region having a plurality of layers, inputting a first input signal into the measuring target and measuring a resulting first output signal, such as a change over time of a first output electric field that is transmitted through or reflected by the first region. Based on a first model including first structural information of a plurality of first modeling layers and information on doping concentrations of each of the plurality of first modeling layers, calculating a second output signal. When a result of comparing the first output signal with the second output signal is smaller than a threshold value, a three-dimensional model of the measuring target may be estimated based on the first model.
