Abstract: A connector assembly for balanced transmission includes a plug connector wherein a plurality of plug-type contact element arrays extend parallel to each other and a plug-type ground plate is disposed between neighboring plug-type contact element arrays, and a jack connector wherein a plurality of jack-type contact element arrays extend parallel to each other and a jack-type ground contact elements for the plug-type ground plate are disposed between neighboring jack-type contact element arrays.
Abstract: A speed estimation apparatus detects the change of a transmission power control command transmitted from a receiving station and estimates the moving speed of the receiving station in mobile communications of a spread spectrum system. The speed estimation apparatus also generates a desired signal power by extracting a desired signal from received signals and estimates the moving speed of a corresponding transmitting station using the desired signal power.
Abstract: A high-dielectric capacitor is formed by using a Ru lower electrode having a (002)-oriented principal surface, by depositing thereon a Ta2O5 film such that the Ta2O5 film has a (100)-principal surface.
Abstract: A DC plasma jet CVD process having a high film deposition rate is employed. A material having low adhesion with diamond is used for a substrate. A diamond film automatically peels from the substrate at the time of cooling. Gas is recycled because gas utilization efficiency is low. In this case, deposition of carbon can be prevented by setting a gas flow velocity to at least 5 m/s in the proximity of an anodic point.
Abstract: A plasma display panel that can enlarge the voltage margin and can realize a stable display is provided. The plasma display panel includes first and second display electrodes X, Y for generating surface discharge and address electrodes A that cross the display electrodes via a dielectric layer. In the preparation process of the addressing for forming charge distribution corresponding to display contents, charge forming and charge adjusting are performed. The charge forming generates wall voltage having the same polarity at the same kind of interelectrode of all cells constituting the screen, for three kinds of interelectrodes, an interelectrode XY between the display electrodes, an interelectrode XA between the first display electrode and the address electrode, and an interelectrode YA between the second display electrode and the address electrode. The charge adjusting decreases the wall voltage by applying an increasing voltage that increases continuously or step by step.
Abstract: An apparatus for high speed signal propagation across a net in an integrated circuit operates with a driver that is coupled to the net, for driving signals across the net. A first transition assist driver (TAD) is coupled to a first node in the net and is capable of pulling the voltage level of the first node in response to the voltage level of the first node reaching a threshold value. The threshold value can be adjusted in order to increase the switching speed or, alternatively, the noise immunity of the first TAD. A second TAD is coupled to a second node in the net and is capable of pulling the voltage level of the second node in response to the voltage level of the second node reaching the threshold value. The apparatus is used for increasing the propagation speed of signals that are transmitted in a microprocessor block or other stages in an integrated circuit.
Abstract: A magnetic head used in a magneto-optical disk apparatus is provided. The magnetic head includes a slider brought into facing relation to a disk member rotatable in a predetermined rotating direction. The slider includes a leading portion and a trailing portion which is spaced downstream from the leading portion in the above rotating direction. The magnetic head also includes a first magnetic field generator carried by the slider and a second magnetic field generator carried by the slider. The second magnetic field generator is arranged closer to the trailing portion of the slider than the first magnetic field generator is.
Abstract: An intraframe time-division multiplexing type display device prevents prominent image defects, such as flicker, and affords a high-quality image display. A single frame of an image is displayed while changing a gray-scale level thereof by means of a number of sub-frames, each sub-frame comprising at least an address period and a sustained discharge period; further, the sub-frames have respective, mutually different sustained discharge periods. A gray-scale level adjustment unit arbitrarily sets the selection sequence of each of the number of sub-frames within an individual frame that is to be in a sustained discharge state.
Abstract: A printed-circuit board reinforcing member can reduce a space to be provided between an electronic part mounted on a printed-circuit board and the printed-circuit board reinforcing member fixed to the printed-circuit board. The printed-circuit board reinforcing member has a square frame shape having four side members. The electronic part having a square shape is mounted on a part of the surface of the printed-circuit board so that the part of the surface of the printed-circuit board is surrounded by the printed-circuit board reinforcing member. An inlet port is formed on a top surface of each of the side members. An outlet port is formed on an inner surface of each of the side members. A fluid passage is provided in each of the side members so as to connect the inlet port to the outlet port. Heated fluid introduced into the inlet port is discharged from the outlet port so as to heat connecting parts between the electronic part and the printed-circuit board.
Abstract: Permission based flow control is implemented in a computer network having at least a downstream, intermediate and upstream network device by receiving credits at the intermediate network device from the downstream network device and granting credits from the intermediate network device to the upstream network device based at least in part upon the credits received at the intermediate network device from the downstream network device. Credit chaining as described above is employed to permit the granting of the right to transmit downstream to be predicated upon buffer availability downstream of the next downstream network device. Via the use of credit chaining, high utilization of network resources is achieved with minimal loss of data traffic.
Abstract: A correction processing unit for correcting a level fluctuation appearing on a tracking error signal when a laser beam passes an ID area on a medium track during an on-track control is provided. That is, in the correction processing unit, a correction value determined by a correction value determining unit at a correction timing detected by a correction timing discriminating unit is subtracted by a correcting unit from a signal value obtained by sampling and converting the tracking error signal into digital data by an A/D converter at a predetermined period and reading, thereby performing the correction.

Abstract: A bar code reader for reading a bar code 30 composed of a plurality of white bars and a plurality of black bars, includes a generating unit 8 for generating bar width values respectively showing a width of the read bars, a judging unit 12 for judging based on the bar width values whether or not the read bar code satisfies a predetermined standard condition, and a converting unit 12 for converting the read bars into a plurality of bars in which a black-and-white-inverted bar is interposed between the conversion-target color bars. If the judging unit judges that the bar code does not satisfy the predetermined standard condition, the converting unit converts any one of the white and black bars constituting the bar code, and thereafter the judging unit makes a re-judgement. The bar code reader is capable of demodulating the bar code which has been abnormally read by presuming and compensating the bars read apparently as a single bar to a plurality of bars.
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device for displaying a predetermined display data on selected pixels on a liquid crystal display panel is disclosed. The liquid crystal display device includes a maximum amplitude display data detecting unit for detecting the display data corresponding to the maximum drive voltage having a maximum amplitude outputted from a data driver; and a variable output voltage type power source circuit portion for generating a power source voltage to be applied to the data driver and capable of changing the power source voltage based on the result of detection by the maximum amplitude display data detecting unit. The variable output voltage type power source circuit portion selects the power source voltage required for displaying the display data and supplies the selected power source voltage to the data driver for each predetermined period, for example, each one-frame period.

Abstract: In a magnetic head slider, in which a slider film is formed on the surface of a substrate or on the surface of a sacrificial layer provided on the substrate so that the substrate or the substrate and the sacrificial layer are separate from the slider film, in an MR head on the inductive layer on the track of a medium, there is provided a rotary mechanism 21 supported by the stationary section 20a of the slider film so that a portion 24 of the slider film can be rotated on a surface substantially parallel to the surface of the recording medium and, in the movable section 24 of the rotating mechanism, there is provided an opposing magnetic pole of the magnetic head element 22 which is opposed to at least the recording medium.

Abstract: Disclosed is a seek control method in an optical storage device, of seek-moving a light beam of an optical head from a certain track on an optical storage medium to a desired track. This seek control method comprises a step of calculating a target position, a step of detecting a present position from a track error signal indicating a relative position between the light beam and the track, a step of calculating such a feedback control quantity as to zeroize an error between the target position and the present position and a step of controlling a moving mechanism for moving the light beam in accordance with the feedback control quantity.
