  • Patent number: 6172936
Abstract: The present invention comprises a flash memory or similar nonvolatile memory circuit characterized by a constitution that enables read operations in two modes, a clock-synchronous burst read mode and a clock-asynchronous normal read mode, the device being set to normal read mode in response to power on, and being set to burst read mode in response to a control signal instructing the burst read mode. The memory device includes a burst mode switching circuit internally. This burst mode switching circuit sets an output circuit to normal read mode in response to the power ON so as to enable read operations not synchronized with the clock after the power ON. In response to a burst mode control signal provided by the system, the burst mode switching circuit sets the output circuit to burst read mode. Thus, the system can perform the burst read to the nonvolatile memory device under the environment analogous to conventional main memory access.

  • Patent number: 6168971
Abstract: A method of assembling thin film jumper connectors to a substrate as part of a process of manufacturing a multi-chip-module or other device having multiple components bonded to chip carrier or other substrate. An alignment plate is positioned on the chuck of a standard flip-chip bonding machine. The thin film jumper connectors are placed on the alignment plate in a face-up position after alignment to alignment marks on the plate using the machine's moveable platform and split-field viewer. The jumper connectors are held to the alignment plate by a force supplied by the vacuum system of the flip-chip bonder, with the force being transmitted to the jumpers through vacuum holes in the alignment plate. The plate's alignment marks are positioned so that when they are aligned with corresponding marks on the connectors, the bonding pads on the connectors are correctly aligned to the pads on the substrate.

  • Patent number: 6169393
Abstract: A trimming circuit for a semiconductor device performs both simulated fuse breakage and actual fuse breakage by selectively short-circuiting an adjusted device. The trimming circuit includes a switch connected in parallel with the adjusted device. Activating the switch causes the adjusted device to be by-passed or short-circuited. A first external terminal is connected to the switch to apply a first control signal to the switch. A second external terminal is provided for receiving a second control signal. A fuse circuit is connected between a high potential power supply and a low potential power supply and between the first and second external terminals. For hypothetical fuse breakage, the first control signal is activated to activate the switch and by-pass the adjusted device. For actual fuse breakage, the second control signal is activated such that it has a potential greater than the first control signal so that a current flows through the fuse circuit, thereby breaking the fuse.

  • Patent number: 6169748
Abstract: A system and method for providing QoS levels to received data units, such as ATM cells and/or Frame Relay Frames. A QoS level associated with a virtual connection is supported through allocation and management of resources used to process data units received over the connection. Resources used to support QoS levels are assigned to groups of connections referred to as “QoS groups”. Resources used to support one group of connections may be isolated from resources supporting other connections. When a connection is established, if a QoS group exists having the QoS level of the new connection, the connection may be added to that QoS group. Similarly, where the QoS levels for multiple connections must be modified, if those connections are within a single QoS group, then modification of the QoS level for that group would advantageously result in modification of the QoS for each virtual connection within the QoS group.

  • Patent number: 6169897
Abstract: A mobile communications system which provides a mobile subscriber with local information related to the area where his/her mobile terminal is located. A link list page is compiled in a URL list server by collecting the URLs of various home pages containing local information, and a local representative URL is assigned to the compiled link list page. A URL retrieving unit receives an area identification signal from a radio base station, and retrieves the local representative URL associated with the received area identification signal. A representative URL transmission unit then transmits the local representative URL retrieved by the URL retrieving unit to the URL list server, thus making access to the link list page stored therein. A list transmission unit, disposed in the URL list server, retrieves the link list page that corresponds to the local representative URL received from the representative URL transmission unit, and it returns the retrieved local URL list to the mobile terminal.
