Abstract: Methods and a receiver of positioning a spurious signal for reducing the impact of the spurious signal on a received Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing, OFDM signal, are presented. The method comprises determining the frequency of a spurious signal (steps 102, 204, 404), determining the frequency for the respective sub-carrier of the OFDM signal and the difference between the frequency of a sub-carrier and the frequency of a spurious signal (steps 104, 206, 406), and adjusting at least one of: the frequency of the first oscillator (step 208) and a parameter related to the frequency of a second oscillator, to decrease the frequency difference between a sub-carrier and a spurious signal (steps 106, 212, 408). By positioning a spurious signal at or near a sub-carrier frequency, the performance impact of the spurious signal is reduced, and the receiver performance improved.

Abstract: A simplified tool is provided for simultaneous prediction of dent resistance and snap-through buckling resistance of roof panels including the effect of roof bow placement, curvatures of the roof panel, thickness of the roof, and steel grade. In one embodiment, a method of predicting snap-through buckling resistance of a sheet metal panel to an applied load under localized loading conditions is provided, wherein the sheet panel has certain defined geometries. The method includes the steps of: identifying first and second principal radii of curvature of the panel; identifying a thickness of the panel; identifying the distance of a portion of the panel between structural supports; creating a mathematical function to determine load deflection behavior for snap-through buckling; and determining the likelihood of the panel to display snap-through buckling characteristics under various localized applied loads by inputting the parameters.

Abstract: A method for measuring the coincidence count rate, using a time-to-digital conversion and an extendible dead time method with measurement of the live time. The count rate of coincident events between radiation detectors operating in parallel is measured, the time fluctuations of the coincident events are converted into digital form, and the extendible dead time method is used with measurement of the live time to eliminate all the other correlated events which may occur in a given detector. The time distributions of the time intervals separating the pulses are recorded, and the count rate of the coincident events is measured using recorded time distributions.

Abstract: One or more embodiments of a method and apparatus taught herein provide for the detection of faulty wireless terminals in a wireless communication network. According to an exemplary method, an occurrence of one or more service incidents occurring for a wireless terminal during an observation time period is detected. For each service incident, a service quality score indicative of the severity of incident is determined. A performance metric is calculated responsive to the service quality scores of the wireless terminal occurring during the observation time period. The wireless terminal is determined to faulty if the performance metric exceeds a service quality threshold. A corresponding network node operable to implement the method is also disclosed.
Abstract: The subject of the invention is a composition for dyeing keratin fibers, comprising at least one 1,8-dihydroxynaphthalene derivative and at least one basifying agent other than aqueous ammonia; the use of the composition for hair dyeing and also the use of the composition in a dyeing process for keratin fibers. The composition according to the invention makes it possible to dye keratin fibers under mild oxidizing conditions even without using an oxidation base and an aromatic amine, while at the same time covering a broad color range with 1,8-dihydroxynaphthalene derivatives. The observed dyeing under oxidizing conditions operates under mild conditions of oxidation and/or basifying agent, in particular in the air, and does not produce any unpleasant odor.
Abstract: According to an embodiment of network address translation traversal, a server agent interfaces a private network to a public network. Private IP addresses for servers located in the private network are mapped to corresponding identifiers known to clients located outside the private network. A request message sent over the public network by a client located outside the private network is received by the server agent. The request message includes a host identifier having a first portion that identifies the server agent to the public network and a second portion that identifies a server located in the private network. The second portion of the host identifier is unknown to the public network. The request message is sent to the server identified by the second portion of the host identifier using the private IP address that maps to the second portion of the host identifier.
