Abstract: The present invention relates to a communication system (SYS), a gateway apparatus (HiGA) and a method for allowing services of a first type provided by a communication server (IMS-S) to be provided to terminal devices (T1, T2, . . . Tn . . . TN) of a home network (CPN) independent of the fact whether the terminal devices are of a first type or a second type (IMS-based or non-IMS-based). The gateway apparatus (HiGA) comprises one or more service-specific mapping applications (AS) for adapting the control plane (SIP) used between the second type terminal devices (T2) to the control plane (HTTP) used between the gateway apparatus (HiGA) and the communication sever (IMS-S).
Abstract: The joint comprises a ball (4) held between two seats (5 and 6) of the members (1, 2) to be joined, and it further comprises fittings (7, 8) bound to the members (1, 2) respectively, connected together through an intermediate jointed ring (12). A spring (13) maintains the contact between the ball and the seats. A rim (15) of the ring retains the ball (4) in case of disjunction. The ball (4) provides large accuracy in the position of the centre of rotation and the remainder of the joint maintains cohesion of the assembly.

Abstract: A portable telecommunications system (PTS), and discovery and update protocol provides an ad-hoc system in which PTS systems can detect one another over a wide area network (WAN). The system may be compact in a way that allows mobility and rapid deployment with minimal on-site configuration. PTS systems exchange multicast packets and peer-to-peer data exchanges. A protocol manager sets up these communications channels, manages exchanges between PTS systems, and passes the data to or from internal system nodes. The protocol manager also performs key oversight functions such as signaling to other systems that a PTS is joining or leaving the community, keeping track of which other PTS systems are in the community and active, and determining when data needs to be updated and exchanged.

Abstract: A method and Provider Backbone Bridge (PBB) for handling customer multicast frames that are received by a Customer Network Port or Provider Network Port on an I-component of the PBB. Customer multicast frames that are forwarded to a Virtual Instance Port (VIP) on the I-component are encapsulated with a Backbone Destination Address (B-DA) equal to the original Customer Destination Address (C-DA) of the received customer multicast frames instead of the Default B-DA. This capability may be controlled by an “EnableCustomerMulticast” parameter enabling the above behavior to be independently set for each VIP on the I-component.

Abstract: This invention relates to a method for the blind or semi-blind estimation of at least one modulation parameter of an OFDM signal utilising a method for adapting the covariance. According to this method, a plurality of values of this parameter are tested by calculating, for each of these values, a distance between a covariance matrix of vectors composed of samples of the signal and a theoretical covariance matrix. The estimated value of the parameter is the tested value which achieves the shortest distance. Said method provides a very good rate of good estimates, even when the OFDM prefix is short or absent. Furthermore, it makes it possible to obtain a joint estimation of several time parameters and, where applicable, of the signal-to-noise ratio.

Abstract: There is provided a method in a cellular telecommunications network, the cellular telecommunications network comprising at least a first cell and a second cell. The method comprises the steps of transmitting (302) first periodic physical signals, usable by a device to determine its location, to the first cell; and transmitting (304) second periodic physical signals, usable by a device to determine its location, to the second cell. The second periodic physical signals are synchronized with the first periodic physical signals and have a timing offset, such that the first periodic physical signals and the second periodic physical signals are not transmitted simultaneously. The method is characterized in that transmission of data or control signals to the first cell is inhibited when the second periodic physical signals are transmitted to the second cell.

Abstract: A packet node and corresponding methods are provided for providing services to packets received at the packet node. At an ingress card, a packet is classified and a virtual media access control (VMAC) address is attached to the packet. The VMAC address identifies a service component for providing a service to the packet. Layer two switching of the packet is made within the packet node, based on the VMAC address. After processing of the packet by the service component, a new VMAC address is attached to the packet. Further layer two switching of the packet, based on the new VMAC address, may lead to further processing by another service component or to forwarding of the packet beyond the packet node.
