Abstract: Physical layer quality of service is provided for a wireless communication system by operationally adapting the physical layer format to the quality of service requirements of transmitted data. The physical layer formats for the data packets are selected based on the quality of service requirements of the data packets. Control information defining the formats is transmitted across the wireless communication link and the data packets are transmitted using the selected physical layer formats.

Abstract: A device for packaging and applying a product. According to an advantageous example, the device includes a container for storing the product, a product applicator including a rotating component capable of being inserted into the container in order to be loaded with product and capable of applying the product removed onto an application surface. The device further includes a member for capping the container that bears the applicator and an applicator wiping member. The wiping member can include, for example, a flat surface against which the rotating component rolls along. The invention can be particularly advantageous, for example, in packaging and applying a cosmetic or care product.
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and devices to control and operate the functionality of a power amplifier system (100) capable of operating in at least three differential amplification modes. The drive signal's amplitude envelope controls an integrated switch network (104; 105, 106) that routes both the signal envelope and signal phase to different modulation blocks (111, 112: 109, 110: 115). Depending on the envelope strength, the operational mode of the amplifier system is possible to alter to best serve the signal statistics to provide the highest overall power efficiency.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for establishing a Quality of Service QoS in an access network for a multimedia session between a home network and a remote device located outside the home network. At least one of the remote device and the home network is connected to the access network. When a session invite message is received from the remote device for device discovery in the home network, a default QoS is enforced in the access network. When a session re-invite message is received from the remote device for media communication with a selected home device in the home network, the QoS requirements are determined for the media communication based on session parameters exchanged during the setup of the media communication. An updated QoS is then enforced for the session in the access network based on the determined QoS requirements.

Abstract: A micromachined electromechanical (MEMS) actuator including, for example, an electrostatically actuated electrical switch, is provided, including a first set of conducting plates forming part of the movable element of the switch, interdigitated with a set of conducting plates forming part of the substrate. The plates are, in principle, vertical relative to the surface of the substrate; they are in partial heightwise overlap and a control voltage applied between the two sets of plates exerts a vertical force acting so as to move the movable element closer to the substrate. The conducting plates of the movable element are connected to one another by conducting end crosspieces connecting the ends of these plates so as to surround, laterally, the stationary conducting plates. The distance separating one stationary plate end from the mobile crosspiece is the same at both ends so that the forces exerted in the elongation direction of the plates cancel out. This distance is preferably the same for all the plates.

Abstract: A production method with release of movable mechanical parts of an electro-mechanical microsystem is disclosed. The method is characterized in that porous zones are formed on the front face of a first water of a semiconductor material. Patterns of a material able to constitute the movable mechanical parts of the electro-mechanical microsystem are then formed on the front face of the first water at the level of the porous zones and encapsulated in a sacrificial layer. Then a layer of a material withstanding an attack by a solvent of the sacrificial layer is deposited. The release of the movable mechanical parts is then executed by the rear face of the first water, through the porous zones, using a solvent of the sacrificial layer.
