Abstract: A roof mountable photovoltaic system, wherein electrical energy is transferred from multiple direct current generating sources to at least one wireless energy receiver device through some separated distance. The system is configured such that electrical energy can be transferred even through an obstruction, such as several layers of roofing material, to the wireless energy receiver device. In some embodiments, there are fewer wireless energy receiver devices than the direct current generating sources. In some embodiments, the wireless energy receiver device can include one or more inductive windings, antennae, or a combination thereof, which can couple with the windings, antennae, or a combination thereof of the wireless transmitter(s) to transfer electrical energy from the transmitters to the one or more receivers without direct electrical or physical connection.

Abstract: A system for assisting in aligning a vehicle for hitching with a trailer includes a steering system that adjusts a steering angle of the vehicle, a braking system that adjusts a speed of the vehicle, an imaging system that receives image data of a trailer disposed in an area proximate the vehicle, and a controller. The controller detects, within a threshold distance defined from a stationary point on the vehicle and the trailer, a position of a coupler from the image data, and, responsive to the position being less than the threshold distance, a status of the trailer based on the image data being indicative of a position of a hitch ball relative to the coupler within a second threshold. The controller maneuvers, via the steering and braking systems, the vehicle based on the status.

Abstract: Apparatus selectively attachable to the outer case of a cellular telephone or other similarly sized portable device. The apparatus desirably includes a housing containing an elastomeric band that is principally disposed inside the housing when the apparatus is not in use. When the apparatus of the invention is attached to the outer case of a cell phone, a portion of the elastomeric band is manually withdrawn through an opening in the housing and can be releasably latched in place to form a flexible, continuous loop outside the housing. The flexible, continuous loop can be used as a selectively retractable carrying strap when the cell phone or other similar device is not in use. Alternatively, the flexible continuous loop can be used, for example, to support the cell phone around a user's neck for hands-free use when the user is engaged in other activities.

Abstract: An electrosurgical device includes a handpiece, an electrode tip extending from the handpiece, the electrode tip configured to deliver an RF signal, and a multivariate controller disposed on the handpiece. The multivariate controller is configured to activate the electrode tip and adjust a setting of the RF signal within a range of settings.
Abstract: An apparatus and a method use permeate to flush a reverse osmosis filter membrane in the same flow direction as when fluid is being filtered through the membrane. The apparatus includes a housing having a membrane positioned therein. The membrane has an interior surface and an exterior surface. The housing has an inlet port located outward of the exterior surface of the membrane and first and second outlet ports. The first outlet port is located outward of the exterior surface of the membrane and the second outlet port is located inward of the interior surface of the membrane. A first pump is used to route pressurized, untreated fluid from a fluid source through the membrane to produce permeate. A second pump is used to route permeate to a desired function while also routing some permeate at low pressure to the housing to flush the membrane.

Abstract: An apparatus for producing a three-dimensional object using a resin or other flowable material in a layer-by-layer technique uses a roller or other applicator to carry a layer of the flowable material to an application site, an exposure device to emit electromagnetic waves to apply the layer to the object to build the object, and optionally further including an initial exposure with emitted electromagnetic waves to at least partially solidify the layer of the flowable material prior to the roller carrying the layer to the application site.
Abstract: This application relates to apparatus and methods for automatically determining and providing item category advertisement recommendations. In some examples, a computing device obtains transaction data identifying historical transactions. The computing device generates a first model, and trains the first model with non-seasonal data. The computing device generates a second model, and trains the second model with seasonal data. The computing device then generates a seasonal re-rank model based on the first model and the second model. The seasonal re-rank model, when executed, identifies probabilities of purchase of categories of items. In some examples, the computing device selects item advertisements to provide for display to a customer based on the probabilities of purchase of categories of items determined by the seasonal re-rank model. The selected item advertisements may be displayed to the customer, for example, on a website.
Abstract: A luminaire (100) includes a base (102) supporting multiple light-emitting elements (LEEs) (122); and a first wall (150-i) and a second wall (150-o) each extending along a first direction (101). The first and second walls (150-i, 150-o) have light-reflective surfaces facing each other and forming a hollow channel (152). The light-reflective surfaces have first portions (120) that curve in opposite directions, second portions (130) that are parallel, and third portions (140) that curve in like directions. The first portions (120) are arranged facing the LEEs (110) to provide an input aperture (122) that receives light from the LEEs (110). The third portions (140) are arranged to provide an exit aperture (142) that outputs output light into an ambient environment. The first and second walls (150-i, 150-o) are configured to propagate light from the input aperture (122) to the exit aperture (142).

Abstract: A host device is configured to communicate over a network with a storage system comprising a plurality of storage devices. The host device comprises a multi-path input-output (MPIO) driver configured to control delivery of input-output (IO) operations from the host device to the storage system over a plurality of paths through the network. The MPIO driver is further configured to identify whether given ones of a plurality of initiators associated with the paths comprise given ones of a plurality of virtual initiator instances, and to identify given ones of a plurality of virtual IO servers corresponding to the given ones of the virtual initiator instances. The MPIO driver is also configured to detect a failure of an IO operation over a first path, and to select a second path for retrying the IO operation based on the identification of the virtual IO servers corresponding to the virtual initiator instances.
Abstract: An electric vehicle rechargeable via electric power transferred from a power outlet separate from the vehicle includes a seat movable between a first position for supporting a person and a second position. A caddy is positioned below the seat to define a cable storage volume. The cable storage volume is accessible when the seat is in the second position. A charging port is positioned outside of the caddy and accessible with the seat in the first position. Abstract: Described is a method that includes receiving a reference signal including an adjustable-amplitude sine wave. The method also includes receiving a voltage feedback signal from a voltage control loop. The voltage feedback signal is a point-of-regulation sine wave, and the voltage control loop includes a first response time. The method also includes comparing the reference signal to the voltage feedback signal to generate an error value. Further, the point-of-regulation sine wave is controlled in the method based on a proportional-integral-derivative input and a current feedback signal. The proportional-integral-derivative input is based on the error value. Additionally, the method includes adjusting the reference signal based on an output of an amplitude control loop. The amplitude control loop includes a second response time that is at least one order of magnitude slower than the first response time of the voltage control loop.
