Patent number: 7429327Abstract: Methods and apparatus for separating solid particles from a fluid. One preferred embodiment includes a tank for settling particles out of the fluid, a conical chamber at the bottom of the tank, an outlet connected to conical chamber, and a conical auger within the conical chamber. The tank may have a tangential inlet that creates a fluid circulation that exerts a centrifugal force on the solid particles to increase the settling of particles out of the fluid. The tank may have a static spiral on the inner wall that helps small particles coalesce into larger particles that settle faster out of the fluid. The fluid content of the solids removed from the tank may be controlled by varying the rotational speed of the conical auger. The rotational speed of the conical auger may be varied depending on the torque required to rotate the conical auger.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2007Date of Patent: September 30, 2008Assignee: M-I L.L.C.Inventors: Gary Fout, Neale Browne

Publication number: 20080228412Abstract: A method for nondestructive testing of the pipes for detecting surface flaws using magnetic leakage flux is disclosed. With of the method, flaws can be detected and analyzed in near-real-time while the pipe is produced. The data obtained with inductive coils, Hall sensors or GMR sensors are digitized, the digital data are buffered in a first memory, and a subset of the digital data are copied into a second memory. The copied data are transformed with a wavelet transformation and the resulting wavelet coefficients are filtered and/or modified. In an alternative embodiment, the digital data can be continuously supplied to a routine for wavelet transformation, which is performed using cascaded digital signal processing routines. Patent number: 7426262Abstract: The invention refers to single-ended test of a loop (2, 3). A test device (TD1) is connected to a remote device (3) via a line (2). The remote device is powered on and transmits intermittently handshake signals (HS1), which can disturb the loop test. A receiving and calculating unit (RE1) detects the handshake signals (HS1) and orders a sending unit (SD1) to send a halting signal (NAK-EF) to the remote device. The latter is halted for predetermined silent period of time, during which the test or a part of it is performed. If required the halting of the handshake signals is repeated. The test device sends a broadband loop test signal (S1) and receives a reflected signal (S2) during the silent period. A frequency dependent echo transfer function is generated from the signals (S1, S2) and is used for generating desired properties of the line (2) such as its length (L).Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 2004Date of Patent: September 16, 2008Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (Publ)Inventor: Jonas Rosenberg
