  • Patent number: 7416073
Abstract: A flat belt support system with a drive roller and paired pulleys, each pair carrying a continuous flat belt that can be moved laterally along the drive roller axis and angled away from the plane normal to the drive roller axis. Multiple belts, each carried by a pair of pulleys, can be driven by a single drive roller. An additional roller allows the drive roller to be positioned so that it contacts the flat belt cover, rather than the back of the flat belt, improving friction between the drive roller and the flat belt.

  • Patent number: 7417966
Abstract: In a data communication network (SYS) a first and second network site (BSS), (MS) communicate by sending a first data transmission (DT1) from the first network site (BSS) to a second network site (MS) and by sending a second data transmission (DT2) from said second network site (MS) to said first network site (BSS). In accordance with the invention data transmission characteristics (DTC1) of said first data transmission (DT1) are determined and radio resources for said data transmission (DT2) are allocated based on the determined first data transmission characteristics (DTC1). Thus, the radio resources for the second data transmission (DT2) are correlated with characteristics of the first data transmission (DT1) and thus delays in the data transmission between the first and second network site (BSS, MS) can be avoided.

  • Publication number: 20080198775
Abstract: In TDD mobile networks, an incoming signal is received during a time period where no uplink communication takes place. The incoming signal is measured and analyzed to determine a noise level. Based on the noise level and on an uplink signal level from expected in a future uplink time slot, a gain for the automatic gain controller is set for use in future uplink communications. The gain is set to optimize the operation of an analog-to-digital converter.

  • Patent number: 7413457
Abstract: An electrical connector connects to a mating connector by a rotatable union nut that is axially displaceable on a contact carrier with a sealing element therebetween. Damage to the sealing element is prevented by a stop that limits the maximum path by which the union nut can be screwed onto the mating connector, such that when the union nut is screwed on, the elastic sealing element is intentionally compressed, but is not damaged or destroyed. A vibration guard can also be provided in the connection.

  • Patent number: 7414549
Abstract: An encoder employs a trellis coded quantization (TCQ) unit and a compression unit. The TCQ uses a set of polynomials that have been selected to maximize granular gain. The TCQ unit operates on a block of samples from a source. The compression unit compresses bit planes of the TCQ output, using parity check matrices of corresponding LDPC codes, to obtain corresponding syndromes. The parity check matrices are selected so their compression performance approaches close to the limit for Slepian-Wolf coding. A decoder employs a decoding unit and an estimation unit. The decoding unit decodes the syndromes using side information to produce an estimate for the TCQ output. The side information is correlated with the source. The estimation unit estimates the block of source samples using the estimated TCQ output and the side information. Trellis coded vector quantization may be used as an alternative to TCQ.

  • Patent number: 7415411
Abstract: Acoustic models for speech recognition are automatically generated utilizing trained acoustic models from a native language and a foreign language. A phoneme-to-phoneme mapping is utilized to enable the description of foreign language words with native language phonemes. The phoneme-to-phoneme mapping is used for training foreign language words, described by native language phonemes on foreign language speech material. A new phonetic lexicon is created containing foreign language words and native language words transcribed by native language phonemes. Robust native language acoustic models can be derived utilizing foreign language and native language training material. The mapping may be used for training a grapheme to phoneme transducer (i.e., foreign language to native language) to generate native language pronunciations for new foreign language words.

  • Patent number: 7412216
Abstract: A radio transmitter includes a transmitter circuit which produces a signal at a first frequency, and has digital divider circuitry, for dividing the first frequency to produce a signal at a second frequency. The noise performance of the digital divider is adjusted, depending upon the transmitter output power. Specifically, the digital divider is operated with a relatively good noise performance when the gain of the power amplifier is high, and is operated with a worse noise performance at low output powers. This can ensure that a specified noise requirement is met, without excessively increasing the power consumption or the size of the device.

  • Patent number: 7411449
Abstract: A PAMELA-type of composite power amplifier is configured in such a way that a single power amplifier is operated at low output voltage amplitudes by prohibiting a pair of outphasing power amplifiers to produce any current. Preferably, at output voltage amplitudes above the maximum voltage of the single power amplifier is to be reached, the pair of outphasing power amplifiers is taken into operation providing currents phase shifted by substantially 180 degrees. When also the outphasing power amplifiers reach their maximum voltages, an outphasing operation is performed.

  • Patent number: 7412469
Abstract: A power amplifier pre-distorter is formed by a FIR filter structure which includes an individual look-up table for each filter tap, where each look-up table represents a sample polynomial in a variable representing signal amplitude, and means for selecting, from each filter tap look-up table, a filter coefficient that depends on the amplitude of corresponding complex signal value to be multiplied by the filter tap. A training method for such a pre-distorter sets (S1) the entries of table T0 and T1 to predetermined values. Then it measures and stores (S2) a batch of input signals x and feedback signals y. New estimates of T0 and T1 are determined (S3) using an iteration of a least mean square based iterative procedure. Then it is tested (S4) whether the tables have converged. If the tables have converged, the current estimates are provided as the final tables. Otherwise another iteration (S2-S4) of the least mean square procedure is performed.

  • Patent number: 7411994
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for establishing a connection between a scanner device and a pager device over a sequence of hop channels. The scanner device is repetitively activated and a hop channel is selected from the sequence of hop channels as a function of a present phase. A determination is made as to whether the selected hop channel is a forbidden hop channel. A substitute hop channel is selected from the sequence of hop channels as the selected hop channel if the selected hop channel is a forbidden hop channel. The selected hop channel is monitored for receipt of a paging message during the present phase.
