Publication number: 20080187138Abstract: The details of an apparatus and method for determining uplink ciphering activation time in universal mobile telecommunications system user equipment are disclosed herein. The ciphering activation time is determined for radio bearers other than RB2 by measuring the data rate on each target radio bearer during the time that it takes for a polling or RRC message sent from the user equipment UE to be acknowledged by the network UTRAN. For RB2, the uplink ciphering activation time is determined by taking into account the size of the RRC response message and the data already queued on RB2 for transmission.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 3, 2008Publication date: August 7, 2008Applicant: M-STACK LIMITEDInventors: NICOLA M. Publication number: 20080186903Abstract: Solutions are described that enable a user equipment (UE) for a communication system always to derive required identifiers using an international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) even when the UE has only a subscriber identity module. One solution is based on a table, or list, that is maintained in the UE. Another solution is based on always taking a predetermined number of digits of the IMSI. Yet another solution is based on try-and-fail signaling. In consequence, the UE does not always need to know how many digits of the IMSI are used to indicate a mobile network code, which in some situations is impossible to know anyway.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 22, 2007Publication date: August 7, 2008Applicant: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Anne-Lott Hedberg, Christian Herrero Veron, Regina Johannesson

Patent number: 7407460Abstract: A planetary gearbox for a power tool has a planetary carrier and a rotatable sleeve with sun wheel toothing arranged centrally on the planetary carrier. The sleeve has a radial section with outer toothing. Planet wheels are positioned between planetary carrier and radial section and mesh with the sun wheel toothing. A switching ring gear surrounds the planet wheels and has an inner toothing meshing with the planet wheels. The switching ring gear is axiallay moveable on the planet wheels between first and second end positions for switching a transmission ratio. In the second end position the switching ring gear engages the outer toothing of the radial section. A synchronization disk, rotating with the rotary sleeve, is positioned between planet wheels and radial section and acts directly or indirectly by friction on the switching ring gear when the latter is moved from the first into the second end position.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 2005Date of Patent: August 5, 2008Assignee: A & M Electric Tools GmbHInventor: Armin Eisenhardt

Patent number: 7409704Abstract: A telecommunications system and method is disclosed for implementing a Policy Enforcement Point (PEP) for an Internet Service Provider (ISP) at the subscriber premises. This PEP enforces policies with respect to authentication of subscribers, authorization to access and services, accounting and mobility of the subscribers. These policies are defined by the ISP operator in a Policy Decision Point (PDP), which is a server connected to the Internet that communicates with the PEP. In addition, the ISP can supply an encryption key for the PEP and an encryption key for a particular subscriber. Thus, all communications between the subscriber and the PEP, as well as between the PEP and the PDP can be encrypted.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 1999Date of Patent: August 5, 2008Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (PUBL)Inventor: Philippe Charas

Patent number: 7409601Abstract: A system and method for a software override capability for enforcing a predetermined state for an otherwise hardware-programmable device. Software that may think it knows what it is doing may try to control a hardware device, but may not know about a hardware issue, such as another feature or defect requiring that the device stay in a certain state. The technique programmatically maintains a persistent hardware state independent of any other control software. To other software, the software layer of the invention is indistinguishable and inseparable from hardware. Nothing can slip in between. Any insertion attempt will be detected and disallowed. Features of the processor or system chips actually weld the software to the hardware, which feature disallows any software intervention between the welded software layer and the hardware.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 2006Date of Patent: August 5, 2008Assignee: Phillip M. Adams & Associates, L.L.C.Inventor: Phillip M. Adams

Publication number: 20080182574Abstract: A device that uses Ultra-Wideband modulation techniques is operated in a low duty cycle mode in which an amount of time during which the device is permitted to transmit a signal is limited. In response to ascertaining that a high-throughput service is to be performed, the device operates in a detect and avoid mode in which it is permitted to transmit continuously on a selected frequency band at a maximum output power until a victim service is detected operating on the selected frequency band. In response to a victim service being detected, the device is again operated in the low duty cycle mode while attempting to identify another frequency band in which to operate the device in the detect and avoid mode. Measures can be taken to maintain a comparable QoS in LDC mode while the device searches for a new DAA mode frequency band.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 21, 2007Publication date: July 31, 2008Applicant: TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L M ERICSSON (PUBL)Inventor: Jacobus Cornelis Haartsen

Patent number: 7406128Abstract: An orthogonal frequency division multiplexed signal generator comprises a data sequence conversion means, a power changing means, an inverse discrete Fourier transform part, and an orthogonal modulation means, and modulates a first data and a second data using modulation systems independent of each other, into an orthogonal frequency division multiplexed signal. The data sequence conversion means arranges the first data to be transmitted, in a predetermined order correspondingly to two or more sub-carriers orthogonal to each other on a frequency axis. The power changing means changes powers of the sub-carriers in accordance with the second data to be transmitted which is independent of the first data. The inverse discrete Fourier transform means generates a time-base waveform by synthesizing the individual sub-carriers. The orthogonal modulation means performs orthogonal modulation on a real axis signal and an imaginary axis signal which are orthogonal to each other to synthesize them.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 2004Date of Patent: July 29, 2008Assignee: D&M Holdings Inc.Inventor: Tadahiko Sakamoto
