  • Patent number: 5662206
Abstract: A sorting conveyor with a tiltable supporting tray which is swivelable from a horizontal transporting position to a position at an angle to the horizontal by a tilting movement about a tilting axle extending in the transposing direction. The supporting tray is swivelable by means of a tipping mechanism arranged on a driven car, the car being used to deliver transported goods which are loaded at a pick-up station. The swiveling of the supporting tray and a stopping process can be initiated via stationary cam rails. To achieve a simple, economical tipping mechanism with fast switching between horizontal and tipped positions, the supporting tray is fastened at a pendulum which is swivelable about the tilting axle which is stationary with respect to the car. A free end of the pendulum is articulated at a slide which is guided in a base body transversely to the transporting direction by means of a pendulum joint.

  • Patent number: 5651385
Abstract: A device for operating a servo drive having a positioning element controlled by a pressure medium. The device includes an electrical control unit generating a control signal based upon the position of the positioning element, a pre-control system connected to receive the control signal through an electrical control path and a main control system controlled by the pre-control system to operate the servo drive by moving the positioning element. A switching element is positioned between the electrical control unit and the pre-control system and opens the electrical control path prohibiting the transmission of the control signal upon detecting operation malfunction. Upon opening of the control path, the pre-control system acts to switch the main control system into a deventilation mode and said positioning element is moved into a predetermined "fail safe" position deventilating the positioning volume of the drive.

  • Patent number: 5649440
Abstract: A method of calibrating and orienting forming rollers of an Assel-type rolling mill, and more particularly, of calibrating an Assel mill for rolling thin-walled tubes of pre-pierced hollow bodies about a mandrel, using at least three generally conical rollers that are circumferentially spaced about the mandrel. The orientation of each forming roller is adjusted so as to position the roller inclination relative to the mandrel axis of roll by an expansion angle .alpha. of approximately 7.degree. to 30.degree.. Each forming roller is also adjustably oriented so that its smoothing part relative to the mandrel axis of roll defines a transport angle .gamma. of approximately 7.degree. to 17.degree.. In further accordance with this invention, each forming roller is configured so as to have an opening angle .beta. of approximately 4.degree. to 15.degree..

  • Patent number: 5644948
Abstract: An apparatus and process for monitoring conditions of a control valve including a valve element operated by a drive controlled by a position controller. A spindle extends into a valve chamber through a dynamic seal and connects the valve element to the drive. The condition of the seal is monitored by measuring start-up time, stopping time and distance travelled. The start-up time relates to the time between application of control current to the position controller and sensing movement of the valve element. The stopping time relates to the interval between application of a second control current to the position controller and sensing the valve element has stopped. The distance travelled relates to distance the valve clement travels during the stopping time. A time difference is determined by subtracting the stopping from the starting time and is calibrated to a seal coefficient of friction. The distance travelled is also calibrated to a seal coefficient of friction.

  • Patent number: 5636959
Abstract: Apparatus for covering a ship's hatch or similar opening that is exposed to weather or environmental conditions, whereby the opening is closable by means of a cover that is at least partially removable. The cover safeguards against water penetration when loading and unloading during bad weather and allows for dry loading and unloading. By sealingly placing a frame-like housing around the edge of the opening, a shaft open on one lateral boundary is formed within the frame housing. The shaft is closable from above by means of overlapping covers, which open automatically when pressed upon by a body suspended on a loading or unloading crane or close automatically when the body is removed.

  • Patent number: 5631510
Abstract: An electric drive with brakes, in particular for hoists, lifting devices or positioning transporting systems, having a brake disk which is movable axially on a motor shaft so as to rotate therewith via a toothing. The brake disk has brake faces at both sides and can be pressed against a stationary counter-brake disk by a spring force. An electromagnetic device is provided which, when connected to current, causes the brake to be released against the spring force. The electromagnetic device has a.c. magnets and E-shaped magnet coil yokes. The counter-pole faces associated with the coil yokes are arranged at magnet yokes which can move angularly on all sides so that the counter-pole faces can be aligned at the end faces of the E-shaped magnet coil yokes located opposite thereto when current is applied to the a.c. magnet.

  • Patent number: 5631530
Abstract: A key element for the control of electromotors, especially for cranes and other hoisting equipment. The key element includes a key switch pestle, a permanent magnet attached to the key switch pestle and a Hall sensor. The key switch pestle and permanent magnet are moveable both towards and away from the Hall sensor. As the permanent magnet approaches the Hall sensor, a flux density is sensed which triggers the generation of a control signal. In order to create a key element which can be installed in the smallest possible space, in controls and the like, the electronic circuit which includes a permanent magnet positionable toward the Hall sensor is integrated into the key element housing.

  • Patent number: 5623101
Abstract: A process for correcting differential pressure signals which takes into account the disturbance variables, temperature and static pressure, that influence the absolute pressure and thereby reduce the accuracy of the corrected differential pressure signals. A corrected differential pressure signal is recursively calculated from a measured differential pressure signal, a measured absolute-pressure signal and a temperature signal in combination with a plurality of lower degree correction polynomials. The corrected differential pressure signal may be further processed via a linearization polynomial to produce a linearization correction signal which, when combined with the corrected differential pressure signal, produces a linearization differential pressure signal. Recursivity in the calculation of the corrected differential pressure signal links residual errors into the correction process despite the use of relative simple lower degree correction polynomials.
