  • Patent number: 4452735
Abstract: The invention relates to SERUM-DERIVED "LEUKORECRUITIN", which is A PROTEIN MEDIATOR OF INFLAMMATION FROM MAMMALIAN SERUM specifically inducing positive leukocytosis reaction and leukocyte recruitment from the bone marrow into the blood of animals and humans without biological side-reactions. The process for the production and isolation of leukorecruitin is characterized in that mammalian serum is subjected to regulated and limited proteolysis by contact activation, the protein is then separated from other foreign constituents and proteins of serum in the form of a crude serum protein concentrate fraction, and/or the protein is separated from other serum-proteins by chromatography on hydroxyapatite. Leukorecruitin has very valuable pharmacological effects and can be used in compositions for specifically influencing the defense state of the animal or human body and for diagnostic purposes in hematological disorders.

  • Patent number: 4409482
Abstract: In a mass spectrometer, stabilization control is effected by modulating the unidirectional ion acceleration voltage with a low-amplitude constant-frequency modulation signal, preferably at the frequency of an A.C. source used to energize the instrument, producing an A.C. modulation component in the ion collector output; that modulation component of the output is detected to develop an error signal indicative of the direction of deviation of the acceleration voltage from an optimum condition of maximized output current and the error signal is employed to adjust the acceleration voltage to stabilize operation at the optimum condition. A corresponding control can be effected by modulation of the magnetic field that deflects the ion stream to impinge on the collector.

  • Patent number: 4372685
Abstract: In order to measure the rotation rate of a rotating light path by the Sag effect, a pair of phase modulated coherent light beams are passed in opposite directions along the light path. After the beams have emerged from respective ends of the light path, the intensity of one of them is detected as a measurement of the phase shift which occurs between the beams along the light path. The detected output is then passed through a synchronous rectifier to produce an error signal for a control loop for the system. In a preferred embodiment, the control loop is formed by a solenoid wound around a portion of an optical fiber located along said light path. By processing the current through the solenoid, a continuous update of a scale factor for the phase shift can be achieved.
