Abstract: According to the present invention, a process which comprises bringing polyethylene terephthalate having an intrinsic viscosity of at least 0.50 dl/g and a density of 1.38 g/cm.sup.3 or more into contact with water is provided.In the water-treated polyethylene terephthalate obtained in the present invention, amounts of oligomers and acetaldehyde formed at the time of molding said polyethylene terephthalate into molded articles are small, and the contamination of the mold therewith is difficult to occur and further the contents of said molded articles does not change in flavour and fragrance.
Abstract: Herein disclosed is a binder for dry toners which comprises a copolymer resin obtained by reacting 10 to 50% by weight of a polyester resin which has free carboxyl groups, whose acid value ranges from 10 to 100 and whose number-average molecular weight ranges from 1,000 to 5,000 and 90 to 50% by weight of a mixture of a vinyl compound having a glycidyl group and the an another vinyl compound, wherein the amount of the vinyl compound having a glycidyl group corresponds to the number of the glycidyl groups equal to 0.25 to 1.5 time that of the carboxyl groups present in the polyester resin. The binder for dry toners is used in the electrophotography technique.
Abstract: Application of a rice blast control agent containing an isothiazolecarboxylic acid derivative of the below-described formula, which shows excellent activity against rice blast (Pyricularia oryzae) in rice cultivation, to the water surface of a paddy rice field results in the absorption of the derivative through roots of rice plants, so that the resistance of the rice plants can be enhanced. ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 independently mean a hydrogen or halogen atom or a particular group, and Y stands for an OR.sub.3 group (R.sup.3 being a hydrogen or alkali metal atom or a particular group), an NHR.sup.4 group (R.sup.4 being a hydrogen atom or a particular group), or a morpholino group.
Abstract: A process for stabilizing dibenzylidenesorbitols comprising incorporating 0.05-20 pts. wt. sorbic acid and/or potassium sorbate in 100 pts. wt. dibenzylidenesorbitol represented by the following formula, ##STR1## and a stabilized dibenzylidenesorbitol composition formed thereby. The storage stability of dibenzylidenesorbitols is thus greatly improved.
Abstract: A ventilation apparatus for a container for transporting goods by truck or ship. The walls of the container are provided with an inlet opening and an outlet opening, and an inlet unit is connected to the inlet opening and an outlet unit is connected to the outlet opening. The outlet unit is provided with a battery-operated fan for a forced ventilation of the container, temperature sensors are provided for detecting the inner wall temperature and inner air temperature, and a degree of change in the wall temperature per unit of time is calculated for operating the fan when the degree of change in the wall temperature is larger than a predetermined value. Furthermore, the difference between the inner air temperature and the wall temperature is calculated, and the fan is operated when that difference is larger than a predetermined value.
Abstract: Ethyl acetate is produced in good yield by reacting ethylene with acetic acid in the presence of a catalyst comprising a tungstophosphoric acid of which 10-90% of the total amount of proton is replaced with a member selected from the group consisting of (a) cesium metal cation, (b) a combination of cesium metal cation and at least one cation selected from alkali metal cations other than cesium cation, and (c) a combination of cesium metal cation and at least one cation of iron group metal cations.
Abstract: Cycloolefin random copolymer compositions which contain a blend of at least two or three cycloolefin random copolymers are disclosed. The random copolymers are obtained by copolymerization of ethylene and at least one of two cycloolefins. The resin compositions exhibit excellent moldability and transparency, heat resistance, thermal aging resistance, chemical resistance, solvent resistance, dielectric and mechanical characteristics and transferability of the pit.
Abstract: This invention provides cationic acrylamide polymers which are highly effective as paper strength agents, drainage agents and suspension flocculants, and which do not show much temporal deterioration; it also provides a method of manufacturing said polymers wherein the manufacturing equipment is compact and can be installed on site, and the cationicity of the polymers can be modified in a short time.This invention comprises a method of manufacturing cationic acrylamide polymers by reaction, with a hypohalogenite, of a (meth)acrylamide homopolymer, a copolymer of (meth)acrylamide and acrylonitrile, a copolymer of (meth)acrylamide and N,N-dimethylacrylamide, in a high temperature range of 50.degree.-110.degree. C. for a short time; the polymers manufactured by said process; and paper strength agents, drainage agents and flocculants having these polymers as their principal constituent.
Abstract: The present invention provides lubricant oil compositions comprising polyalkylene glycol polycarbonates. The lubricant oil compositions are useful as industrial gear oils, automotive gear oils, lubricant oils for refrigerators and rolling installations. The lubricant oils exhibit excellent lubricating properties and detergency and also have mutual solubility with an ozone layer nondestructive Freon such as R-134a. The lubricants of the present invention are especially suited for refrigerator systems using a hydrogenated fluorocarbon as a refrigerant.
Abstract: A laser output unit according to the present invention comprises a body having a laser output port at an extreme and thereof, lenses provided within said body to condense laser beam introduced to emit it from the laser output port, and a protective glass provided between said laser output port and said lens within said body. A gas jet port and a gas exhaust port opposed to said gas jet port are provided at said body portion between said protective glass and said laser output port. A gas crosses at a position between the protective glass and the laser output port. Flying matter is blown away by the gas and does not arrive at the protective glass.
Abstract: A degradable polymer network obtained by adding from 0.2 to 10 parts by weight of a foaming agent to 100 parts by weight of a polylactic acid-base resin composition comprising from 80 to 100% by weight of polylactic acid or a lactic acid-hydroxycarboxylic acid copolymer and from 0 to 20% by weight of a plasticizer, conducting melt-foaming extrusion of resulting mixture, and opening the foam cells in the extrudate. The high polymer network is characterized in suitable flexibility and hydrolyzability and thus useful as a material for absorbing of oils and body fluids, screens for sunlight, heat-insulating materials, filter media and packaging materials; and does not accumulate as industrial wastes because of hydrolyzability in the natural environment, even though abandoned after use.
Abstract: Polyimide sheets having excellent thermal resistance and good surface appearance of the resultant sheets are obtained by a melt-extrusion process from a specific polyimide in the temperature range of 300.degree. C. to 450.degree. C. and a moisture content of 200 ppm or less.
Abstract: In the case where a polyamide is blended with a specific partially crosslinked graft-modified polyolefin elastomer obtained by dynamically heat-treating a blend of a peroxide-crosslinking olefin copolymer rubber and an olefinic plastic with an unsaturated carboxylic acid or derivative thereof, an unsaturated epoxy monomer or an unsaturated hydroxy monomer in the presence of an organic peroxide, if the graft-modified polyolefin plastomer occupies a major portion, a composition excellent in the oil resistance, the mechanical strength and the resistance against heat aging is obtained and if the polyamide occupies a major portion, a composition excellent in the impact resistance, the rigidity and the tensile strength is obtained.
Abstract: Chlorinated ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer rubber of the present invention is characterized in that the content of chlorine bonded to primary carbon atom is 0.6% by weight or more and the content of chlorine bonded to tertiary carbon atom is 1.6% by weight or less. This chlorinated ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer rubber has a high vulcanization speed and excels in heat resistance. Additionally, this thermoplastic elastomer composition consisting of this vulcanizate and crystalline polyolefin resin particularly excels in moldability and processibility.
Abstract: According to the present invention there are provided a solid-state laser device using a laser rod not smaller than 180 mm in length as a laser medium, thereby capable of providing a high output power, facilitating maintenance and inspection, and permitting the reduction of size and simplification in comparison with a conventional laser device using plural laser rods, as well as a machining apparatus using the said laser device as a machining energy source, and a solid-state laser device wherein a laser medium is held in a free state within a resonator so that a longitudinal direction of the laser medium is coincident with an optical axis direction of laser beam and so that the laser medium is capable of expansion or contraction in the said optical axis direction, thereby preventing the breakage of the laser medium and the deviation of the optical axis of laser beam.

Abstract: A hot compress structure comprising a flat bag having no opening and having one surface constituted by a gas-permeable film, and a heating composition capable of generating heat in the presence of air and sealed in the interior of the flat bag, with a compress layer being provided on the other surface side of the flat bag, the gas-permeable film having a moisture permeability of 100 to 400 g/m.sup.2.24 hr as measured according to an ASTM method (E-96-80D method). When this hot compress structure is brought into close contact with the human body, the heat generated from the heating composition is transferred to the whole skin surface of an affected part uniformly through the compress layer and a safe temperature not causing a low-temperature burn is maintained for a long time; besides, by the generation of heat, a local blood circulation is accelerated to improve a local metabolism.

Abstract: An insulated wire having excellent thermal resistance and good surface appearance is obtained by coating a condutor with a specific polyimide in a temperature range of 300.degree. C. to 450.degree. C. and controlling moisture content to 200 ppm or less.
Abstract: According to the present invention, molded articles can be provided in which a melting point attributed to a syndiotactic polypropylene and measured at a temperature rise rate of 10.degree. C./minute by differential scanning thermal analysis is indicated by a substantially single peak, the aforesaid molded articles being obtained by heating, melting and molding a substantially syndiotactic homopolymer of propylene, a substantially syndiotactic copolymer of propylene and a small amount of another olefin, or a mixture of these polymers and a small amount of a substantially isotactic polypropylene, and then subjecting the molded products to a heat treatment. Furthermore, a method for preparing the above-mentioned molded articles is also provided. The molded articles have high stiffness and impact resistance.
