Abstract: The present invention detects a candidate ROI group associated with character strings/figure strings on the basis of a result acquired through prior learning of various types of license plates, verifies the interested region candidate group detected by using at least one condition of five predetermined conditions, and determines an MBR region in the selected ROI region from the verified interested region candidate group by considering a ratio between the height and width of the ROI region to recognize the license plate for the automobile. According to the present invention, it is possible to automatically detect the location of the license plate regardless of various types of license plate specifications defined for each of countries.

Abstract: A configurable processing apparatus includes a plurality of processing units, at least an instruction synchronization control circuit, and at least a configuration memory. Each processing apparatus has a stall-output signal generating circuit to output a stall-output signal, wherein the stall-output signal indicates that an unexpected stall is occurred in the processing unit. The processing unit has a stall-in signal, and an external circuit of the processing unit can control whether the processing unit is stalled according to the stall-in signal. The instruction synchronization control circuit generates the stall-in signals to the processing units in response to a content stored in the configuration memory and the stall-output signals of the processing units, so as to determine operation modes and instruction synchronization of the processing units.

Abstract: A pre-decoded tail-biting convolutional code (TBCC) decoder and a decoding method thereof are provided. The decoder includes a pre-decoder, a storage module, and a control module. The pre-decoder receives a current state, a neighboring state, and a current path status corresponding to sequential data encoded in TBCC, generates predicted decoded bits, and determines whether states corresponding to minimum path metrics of neighboring stages are in continuity according to the current state, the neighboring state, and a current path status. The storage module is connected to the pre-decoder and stores the predicted decoded bits. The control module is connected to the storage module and the pre-decoder. In addition, the control module selects to output the decoded bits from the storage module when the continuity between the states corresponding to the minimum path metrics of the neighboring stages reaches a truncation length.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for providing robust topic identification in social indexes is described. Electronically-stored articles and one or more indexes are maintained. Each index includes topics that each relate to one or more of the articles. A random sampling and a selective sampling of the articles are both selected. For each topic, characteristic words included in the articles in each of the random sampling and the selective sampling are identified. Frequencies of occurrence of the characteristic words in each of the random sampling and the selective sampling are determined. A ratio of the frequencies of occurrence for the characteristic words included in the random sampling and the selective sampling is identified. Finally, for each topic, a coarse-grained topic model is built, which includes the characteristic words included in the articles relating to the topic and scores assigned to those characteristic words.

Abstract: Provided is a pulse drive-type field emission device. The pulse drive-type field emission device includes anode and cathode substrates that are spaced apart from and face each other, a cathode electrode formed on the cathode substrate, and a field emitter formed on the cathode electrode. The pulse drive-type field emission device further includes a metal mesh-type gate electrode having an opening through which electrons emitted from the field emitter pass and a power source which applies a compensated pulse wave power to the gate electrode or the cathode electrode to compensate for vibration of the gate electrode. Thus, noise from the metal mesh can be prevented without additional fabrication processes by modifying a waveform in pulse driving.

Abstract: Most widely used commercial zirconia powders are composed of porous particles 10-105 ?m and 45-75 ?m in size. Furthermore, these powders are mixtures of tetragonal, cubic, and monoclinic modifications, which indicate the heterogeneous distribution of the stabilizing yttria dopant in finished powder not suitable for Solid oxide fuel cell applications. Most of the methods reported in the prior art employs an additional agglomeration step which makes the process more expensive and laborious, Present invention provides a simple and economical process for the preparation of plasma grade yttria stabilized zirconia powder useful for applications in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) and thermal barrier coatings without the agglomeration step. Plasma grade yttria stabilized zirconia powders of present invention are prepared at different mole % of yttria varying from 3 to 12%.
