Abstract: The present invention provides methods and materials for isolating, purifying, and/or enriching the concentration of compounds having one or more phosphate groups and/or derivatives thereof, including but not limited to phosphorylated peptides and/or phosphorylated proteins. In some aspects, the present invention provides nanostructured enrichment materials, such as metal oxide mesoporous materials, that selectively and reversibly bind with phosphorylated compounds with high specificity and are capable of controlled release of phosphorylated compounds bound to their active surfaces. Mesoporous materials of the present invention also provide enrichment materials having large active surface areas that provide for higher loading capacities for phosphorylated peptides and proteins relative to conventional affinity based methods.

Abstract: In a wideband mobile communication system, a signal transmitting apparatus separates an envelope curve signal which is size information and a phase signal which is phase information from a signal to transmit, and compares the envelope curve signal with a predetermined voltage. The signal transmitting apparatus performs active bias control that amplifies and outputs an envelope curve signal according to different driving voltages based on a comparison result, and supplies a bias voltage to a power amplifier that amplifies a phase signal based on the amplified signal.

Abstract: Method and apparatus performing dynamic contrast-enhanced-magnetic resonance imaging on tissue to obtain a plurality of datasets of images. Principal component analysis is performed on each dataset to obtain a covariance matrix and its corresponding eigenvalues and eigenvectors and produce a common base of eigenvectors. The dominant eigenvectors that are not associated with instrumental and random noise, commonly the 2nd eigen-state and the 3rd eigenvectors, or the 1st and 2nd eigen vectors, are correlated with the physiological relevant parameters of the 3TP method to obtain a hybrid method. The fusion of the eigenvectors with the 3TP parameters is dictating a rotation of the two relevant eigenvectors to obtain new rotated eigenvectors that serve to calculate new projection coefficient maps of the rotated eigenvectors for the imaged tissue indicative of physiological relevant parameters reflecting wash-out and wash-in patterns that detect abnormal tissue and distinguishes between cancerous and benign tumors.
Abstract: The present invention is a process for treating a feedstock comprising holocellulose. The process comprises mixing the feedstock with a solution comprising cellulose binding domains to form a mixture. The mixture is then subjected to conditions sufficient to reduce the crystallinity of holocellulose. Subsequent enzymatic hydrolysis may show an improved rate and/or fermentable sugar yield as compared to processes which do not employ the process.

Abstract: There is provided a method and system for communicating data items about a communication network. An original data item for communicating to a destination device is cached to a network data store in association with unique ID (UID) generated to identify the original data item. The UID is then sent as a proxy for the original data item to the destination device. The original data item may be processed (e.g. in response to a type of the destination device) to create a processed data item and the processed data item sent in place of the original data item. The processed data item may also be cached in association with the UID, for example, for reuse to eliminate duplicate processing. The destination device is adapted to return the UID when further communicating the original data item thereby to reduce communication of the original data item about the communication network.

Abstract: An emergency locator component for a mobile communication device enables the mobile communication device to obtain location information from other neighboring mobile devices in the event that the mobile communication device is unable to determine its own location. The mobile communication device employs a short-range radiofrequency transceiver to broadcast a request for location information to the neighboring mobile devices. A response containing location information may be received from another mobile device equipped with a similar emergency locator component. Accordingly, this technology enables mobile devices to exchange location information by setting up an ad-hoc network. The location information can be included, for example, in an emergency phone call to an emergency services call center.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for identifying a 3-D event location of a gamma interaction for enhancing the precision of event location determination and improving the practicability of an edge-on ends-read imaging detector. The method establishes two expected photopeak relations and a mapping table for every unit in the sensor array before imaging. In real practice, two sensing values with respect to the energy of scintillation photons generated during the detection on an event are obtained by the edge-on ends-read imaging detector. Furthermore, two energy windows corresponding to each sensing value are determined according to the corresponding expected photopeak relations. If both the two sensing values fall within the corresponding energy windows respectively, the event location along the long axis of sensor array is determined according to the sensor values with respect to the mapping table mentioned above.

Abstract: A set of routes are discovered in a network including concentrators, smart meters and an imaginary node. Each concentrator node, a source, broadcasts a route request (RREQ) packet to the imaginary destination node. Intermediate nodes store a route as a node list (NL) in the RREQ packet and as a route table (RT) in the node. Then, each smart meter node can select a primary route and a secondary route from the smart meter node to any concentrator from the route table.
