  • Patent number: 4794790
Abstract: A diagnostic method and arrangement quantitatively checks actuators during the open-loop and/or closed-loop control of operational parameters of an internal combustion engine. The method and arrangement checks the idle actuator and the tank venting value well as the associated hardward chains, that increased or decreased quantities of air (.+-..DELTA.Q.sub.TEV/LLR) be supplied via an appropriate controlling to the tank-venting valve or of the idle regulator, preferbly simultaneously and in opposite directions and that the resulting possible changes of rotational speed (rotational speed remains constant; rotational speed decreases; rotational speed increases) be determined and appropriately evaluated.

  • Patent number: 4795098
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuatable valve that serves in particular in inject fuel into the intake tube of internal combustion engines operating with fuel injection systems. The fuel injection valve includes a valve housing core with a surrounding magnetic coil and a guide diaphgram secured across the valve housing, the guide diaphragm urges an armature/valve closing element, embodied in one piece in the form of a spherical section, toward a valve seat. The guide diaphragm loosely engages a flat bearing face of the armature, so that the valve closing element can automatically center itself with respect to the valve seat. Upon a reciprocating movement of the armature/valve closing element, the frictional force between the guide diaphragm and the bearing face prevents a radial movement of the armature/valve closing element.

  • Patent number: 4795097
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuatable fuel injection valve, which serves to supply fuel to a mixture-compressing internal combustion engine having externally supplied ignition. The fuel injection valve includes a valve housing with a mouth piece, in which a valve seat body is disposed, included are two magnet coils, two cores and one armature, which has a spherical guide section and is connected to a valve needle. The spherical guide section is slidably supported with its circumference in a guide bore of the valve seat body and in its stroke movement away from the core is limited by a tapered stop opening which adjoins the guide bore. Radially extending grooves are machined into the wall of the stop opening and are coextensive in the wall of the guide bore, so that the area of contact between the spherical guide section and the stop opening is decreased.

  • Patent number: 4794899
Abstract: A correction spring capsule which has a stop bolt inserted in a stepped longitudinal bore of a housing embodied as a screw sheath, a correction spring and an adjusting screw, which forms the abutment for the correction spring. This adjusting screw has the form of a cup-shaped adjusting ring provided with a continuous external thread and having a bottom and a sheath-like wall. The sheath-like wall is deformed into an oval shape in order to attain positional fixation of the adjusting screw and has its greatest deformation in the vicinity of one end section that is open toward the outside. As a result, the adjusting screw is infinitely adjustable and is secured in a positionally fixed manner in any position inside the housing in the vicinity of an internal thread.

  • Patent number: 4794538
Abstract: Wheel speed (V.sub.R) and braking pressure (P.sub.B) applied to a wheel are continuously measured and utilized to estimated values from a mathematical system model, to obtain the physical values: coefficient of friction (.mu.), vehicle speed (V.sub.F), slope of a slip curve (d.mu./dS), slip (S), and coefficient of friction of a stationary-rotary brake couple structure. At least one of the physical values so obtained, and preferably the coefficient of friction (.mu.), vehicle speed, and slope of wheel slip curve are used to control braking pressure being applied to the wheel. Braking pressure can be controlled for example for braking in accordance with coefficient of friction and slope of the friction-slip curve, for example to operate the wheel just before the coefficient of friction drops as the wheel begins to slip. Spinning of a wheel can be avoided by controlling the braking pressure to be below slippage value.

  • Patent number: 4793308
Abstract: An emergency control device for a diesel internal combustion engine with electronically controlled fuel proportioning, which enables an optimal emergency driving operation in case of a defect of the transmitter or transmitters for the actual value of fuel volume. In the event of an error, the mechanism determining the desired value of fuel volume during normal operation, and the fuel volume regulating device, are separated from the fuel proportioning device and the latter is controlled by a special emergency driving signal. An error in the transmitters for the actual value of fuel volume is recognized in that this signal does not fall in the allowable area for the actual value of fuel volume. A first signal, which, together with a second signal, gives the emergency driving signal, is formed from the speed and the accelerator position. The second signal consists substantially of the differentiated speed signal.

  • Patent number: 4791900
Abstract: In a safety and emergency driving control method and an associated arrangement for an internal combustion engine with self-ignition used to power a motor vehicle, various operating parameters of the engine are continuously monitored and respective signals indicative of gas pedal position, engine operating speed, brake actuation, and actual control rod displacement are generated and evaluated to determine simultaneous occurrence of a modified idling operation condition and of a predetermined minimum value of the actual control rod displacement signal. In response to such a simultaneous occurrence the engine control is switched over to another regulation branch which controls the control rod displacement in accordance with a minimum value characteristic line of the control rod displacement. Further peripheral devices are included for providing starting hysteresis and excess speed protection, and for supervising the operation of the control rod displacement sensor.

  • Patent number: 4792287
Abstract: An axial piston pump for pumping a medium such as a viscous liquid in which a wobble element is set into rotating movement via a piston, the wobble element moving at least one feed piston in a piston bore. The piston bore is intended to communicate, via a transverse line and a further piston bore which is occupied by a control piston, with an intake line for the medium to be pumped. By means of this axial piston pump, which is valve-controlled on the compression side and slide-controlled on the intake side, liquid having a high viscosity can be pumped without a loss of efficiency, and any noise produced by the pump can be reduced. These latter advantages are reinforced still further provided the feed system is received in a pump insert that is supported with respect to a pump housing by means of elastic bearing elements.

  • Patent number: 4791862
Abstract: An electric toaster wherein the housing defines a toasting chamber for slices of bread or other goods and the chamber has an outlet for toasted goods at or close to its lowermost portion. The chamber is flanked by two ceramic panels which can store substantial amounts of heat and transmit infrared radiation. Each panel defines with a semicylindrical reflector a compartment for one or more halogen lamps which emit radiation directly against the respective panel or indirectly as a result of deflection by the corresponding reflector. Gravitational descent of goods from the chamber can be blocked by a gate- or rod-like barrier which is movable into the outlet by hand or automatically in response to completion of a toasting operation.
