Patent number: 4784237Abstract: An apparatus for the automatic release of passenger protection devices in motor vehicles in the event of an accident has a sensor (35) having a mass (10) secured outside the center of mass (11). This mass (10) generates a comparably high torque in the suspension in the event of both positional change and rotational acceleration. These torques are detected with known measuring methods and split, with the aid of a high-pass filter (36) and a low-pass filter (40), into a high-frequency and a low-frequency portion. The high frequency portion corresponds to the rotational acceleration, from which the rotational velocity is obtained by means of an integrator (38). The low-frequency portion corresponds to the position of the motor vehicle. Thus both measurement variables that must be detected for releasing a roll bar are obtained with a single sensor (35).Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 1987Date of Patent: November 15, 1988Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Claus Condne, Klaus Dobler, Hansjorg Hachtel, Bernhard Mattes, Wadym Suchowerskyj

Patent number: 4785238Abstract: To provide an unambiguously representative signal responsive to the speed of a vehicle wheel, an inductive pick-up (1a. . . . 1n) is coupled to a suitable star wheel or the like of each one of the wheels, the pick-ups then providing their signals to amplifiers (3a. . . . . 3n) having hysteresis characteristics. At low speeds, an offset signal is superimposed on the voltage from the inductive pick-ups so that the amplifiers respond and provide output signals only at higher amplitudes of the pick-up signals, thereby eliminating inaccuracies or disturbances occurring in the sensor which might simulate changes in speed of the respective wheel.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 1986Date of Patent: November 15, 1988Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Volker Braschel, Reiner Emig

Patent number: 4783917Abstract: A bracelet assembly for carrying identification information. The bracelet assembly has an elongated flexible band with fastening means for fastening the band in a closed loop fashion around a patient's limb. There is a transparent portion on the flexible band through which the user can read the identification information. A permanently deformable layer is interposed between the transparent portion and a base layer. The base layer and permanently deformable layer are of contrasting colors. The permanently deformable layer is deformed by lines of force applied by mechanical pressure means such as a typewriter or credit card imprinter which deforms the deformable layer along the lines of force which correspond to the identification information. This renders the base layer visible through both the transparent portion and the permanently deformable layer along the lines of pressure.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 1987Date of Patent: November 15, 1988Assignee: Robert E. Patent number: 4782453Abstract: To determine the optimal location for a magnetic field sensor in a navigational system in a vehicle, the field sensor is preliminarily and releasably secured at a first location in the vehicle, and then the vehicle is rotated by 360.degree., for example by moving it in a circular course. An evaluation circuit is connected to the field sensor which determines the maximum or minimum value of the entire field vector (H.sub.x, H.sub.y). The level of the disturbance field (Hs.sub.x, Hs.sub.y) is determined by carrying out the calculation by adding half of the respective maximum and minimum values in the respective vectorial directions. The steps are then repeated with a different location of the sensor and, when a minimum disturbance field is determined, the sensor can be secured to the vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1986Date of Patent: November 1, 1988Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Harald Bauer, Reinhard Helldorfer
