  • Patent number: 4619370
Abstract: Safety closures resistant to (and evidencing) tampering comprising a snap cap or screw cap, a rotary safety ring, and a tear tab attached to the neck of the container, said closure requiring that the tear tab be removed before the safety ring can be lowered; the safety ring must be aligned with the cap in one angular position and pushed downwardly away from the cap before the cap can be removed from the container. These safety closures may include a tear pin, attached to the cap and to the ring, which must be broken before the cap can be removed from the container; the tear pin may be in addition to, or an alternative for, the tear tab. The tear pin and tear tab are made to be removable. This invention describes a tamper resistant and tamper evident closure comprising a cap having a depending annular flange with a slot therein, and an outwardly directed wing protruding through said slot; the cap cannot be removed without causing the cap to shear off the outwardly directed wing, which is made to be removable.

  • Patent number: 4618913
Abstract: An electrical capacitor of a non-impregnated, self-curing type includes a roll or wound body provided with metallic layers. Interspaces between the windings of the roll are filled with a gaseous or vaporous additive substance of a polyatomic hydrocarbon compound which is free of halogens and whose ionization potential is less than the ionization potential of at least a part of decomposition products of dielectric substance of the capacitor. The additive substances makes it possible that in an electric arc of a disruptive breakdown in the dielectric material of the capacitor the charge is taken over by positive ions of the decomposition product and subsequent clusters of breakdowns are substantially prevented. In addition, the additive substances absorb during a breakdown UV photons so that the emission of secondary electrons on the metallic lining is avoided.

  • Patent number: 4617015
Abstract: The invention comprises a visual pressure indicator for endotracheal cuffs. More particularly, the indicator of the invention comprises an indicating diaphragm which is sealingly positioned within a body by means of a cap. A hole is positioned within the cap to allow protrusion of an indicating stem of the diaphragm. The air space between the diaphragm and the body is connected in fluid communication with the cuff supply tube by means of passageways. A syringe-operable, one-way valve is positioned within the body to allow filling of the endotracheal cuff with air by means of a syringe, and to prevent leakage of the air from the cuff once it is properly filled. The indicator of the invention is fitted to the end of the cuff supply tube, and a conventional syringe is fitted to the indicator. When the endotracheal tube is in position within the patient's trachea, the syringe is operated to force air into the endotracheal cuff via the one-way valve, cuff supply tube, and cuff supply channel.

  • Patent number: 4616618
Abstract: The invention is directed to an apparatus for metering an air-fuel mixture to an internal combustion engine with an extreme-value control arrangement for controlling to a minimal specific consumption of fuel. The extreme-value control arrangement includes a test signal generator for acting upon the fuel metered to the engine. The rotational speed and a fuel metering signal are applied by the extreme-value control arrangement as actual information with respect to the minimal specific fuel consumption. In particular, the quantities of rotational speed change and the change in duration of fuel injection are utilized to determine the minimal consumption in the case of an internal combustion engine equipped with fuel injection. Further, for a minimal consumption control, it has been shown to be advantageous to consider information as to which gear of the transmission of the engine is in place.

  • Patent number: 4616518
Abstract: A sliding-link mechanism is proposed, which serves in particular to actuate a throttle device in the intake tube of an internal combustion engine. The sliding-link mechanism is disposed by way of example on a throttle valve assembly and includes a variable-fulcrum lever, which is firmly connected to a shaft and has a kidney-shaped oblong slot groove, which is engaged by a roller rotatably supported on a shaft. The shaft is secured on a roller lever, which with a hub is seated on an eccentric sleeve, which can be rotatable about a shaft secured to the throttle valve assembly. The eccentric sleeve and the hub have meshing teeth which by axial displacement relative to one another become disengaged, so that by rotating the eccentric sleeve the position of the roller lever relative to the variable-fulcrum lever can be varied in such a way that in the outset position the roller comes to rest on the end of the oblong slot groove.

  • Patent number: 4616506
Abstract: An apparatus for measuring the mass of a flowing medium and a method for producing the apparatus are proposed in which a plate-like carrier on which at least one resistance coating is applied. Continuous fastening openings are provided in the carrier and the resistance coating such that they extend parallel to one another and at the same distance from one edge of the carrier. Rigid electrical connections are inserted through the fastening openings and are soldered provisionally with the resistance coating. A source of current is applied to each of the electrical connections for heating the connections to such an extent that the solder between the electrical connections and the resistance coating melts, causing the carrier located in a steady laminar flow to rotate into a streamlined position. The heating current is then interrupted, and the solder, as it sets, fixes the carrier in this streamlined position at the electrical connections.
