Abstract: Conversion of 3-acyloxy-benzodiazepin-2-ones into corresponding 3-hydroxy benzodiazepin-2-ones is carried out efficiently with potassium hydroxide or potassium alkoxide as catalyst in lower alkanol solvent at a pH of 11-11.5. The final products, which include temazepam, are useful as sleep inducers.

Abstract: The invention provides solid enteric-coated compositions in unit dose form for oral application, the core of the composition containing an ergot alkaloid and a polyalkoxyalkylene sterol ether. The compositions are characterized by a prolonged effect and a good bioavailability of the active agent. The core may be in solid solution form. The enteric-coating may also be surrounded by an outer medicament layer.

Abstract: Oxalanilides of formula I ##STR1## in which R is C.sub.6-22 alkyl or C.sub.6-22 alkoxyR.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are independently, hydrogen, C.sub.1-8 alkyl, C.sub.1-12 alkoxy, C.sub.1-12 alkylthio, phenoxy or phenylthio; provided that R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 may not both be selected from alkylthio, phenoxy and phenylthio;andR.sub.3 is hydrogen or C.sub.1-8 alkylcertain of which are novel, are useful as UV-stabilizers in organic polymers and organic polymer-containing coatings, particularly automotive finishes. The compounds have low volatility and excellent solubility in organic solvents such as are used in liquid finishes.

Abstract: The invention relates to a wet-on-wet dyeing process comprising(A) impregnating the substrate with an acid dyeing liquor containing an anionic dye having a K'.sub.pH6 -value.gtoreq.5(B) applying locally to the substrate at room temperature, a liquor or paste containing an alkoxylated fatty amine or polyamine having affinity for anionic dyes with a K'.sub.pH6 -value.gtoreq.5, said step (B) being carried out directly after or directly before said step (A), and(C) subsequently submitting the substrate to a heat treatment to effect fixation of the dye.

Abstract: A process for dyeing a voluminous flat form anionic dyeable substrate, for example a carpet, comprises applying locally to said substrate one or more dyes, optical brightening agents and/or reserving agents having low migration properties followed by pre-fixation of the same, subsequently dyeing the treated substrate in a short bath with one or more dyestuffs having better migration properties, rolling up the substrate and rotating the rolled-up substrate under conditions to effect fixation of the dyestuffs.

Abstract: An optically active or racemic 2-amino-5-hydroxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene wherein the nitrogen atom of the amino group carrier two alkyl groups, one of which is unsubstituted and the other is substituted by at least one functional group, or a physiologically hydrolysable ester thereof in free base form or in the form of an acid addition salt thereof is provided which is active against heart circulatory disorders and Morbus Parkinson and inhibits prolactin secretion inhibition.

Abstract: The wet fastness of direct dyes on cellulose substrates is improved by after-treatment with the reaction product of an amine with cyanamide, dicyanodiamide, guanidine or biguanidine which is further reacted with an N-methylol resin precursor, and heat curing in the presence of a catalyst. The unfixed portion of reactive dyes substantive to cellulose may also be given improved wet fastness by this treatment, so that washing to remove unfixed reactive dye may not be necessary.

Abstract: Cellulosic fabrics may be dyed by cold-dyeing reactive dyes under weakly alkaline conditions (0.2-1 g/l soda) at 60.degree.-80.degree. C. in the presence of moderate amounts of salt. This is advantageously used for the dyeing of mixed cotton/polyester substrates in a one-bath process with a mixture of reactive and disperse dyes.

Abstract: N-(.beta.-aminoethyl)-3-hydroxy-1,1,6,6-tetramethyl-piperidine and certain of its N- and O-substituted derivatives are useful as light stabilizers for polymeric materials, particularly for thermoplastic polymers and automotive finishes. Abstract: Compounds obtained by the addition of unsaturated esters to the >NH group of compounds of formula II ##STR1## are useful as light stabilizers for polymeric materials, particularly for thermoplastic polymers and automotive finishes. Preferred compounds are those in which R, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are all hydrogen and R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together with the carbon atom to which they are attached form a cyclododecylidene ring.

More particularly those compounds where n is 1 are useful as anionic dyestuffs and those compounds where n is 0 are useful as pigments.

Abstract: The invention provides 6-(2-propenyloxy)-4-methyl-2-aminopyrimidine derivatives which are chlorinated or brominated in 2 or 3 position of the 2-propenyl moiety, e.g. 6-(2-chloro-2-propenyloxy)-4-methyl-2-n-hexylaminopyrimidine. The compounds are useful as herbicides and allow the control of undesired weeds in a crop locus.
