Abstract: The invention relates to a sound system for a motor vehicle and to a process for specifying the functional scope of such. The sound system (1) for a motor vehicle comprises a control unit (2), and several input units (3, 3a) for operating the system (1), as well as display units (4) and several units (5, 11) to generate the source data in the form of sound or video data. The sound data are amplified in an amplifier unit (6), and are conducted to several loudspeakers (7). The units are linked to one another via a bus (8) with a ring topology. Both source data and control data are transmitted over the bus. The functional scope of the individual input units (3, 3a) is specified by means of a priority value of the input units (3, 3a). This priority value is stored in the memory (12) of each input unit (3, 3a).

Abstract: One embodiment of the invention concerns an electrical household apparatus, for example a washing machine, equipped with a control device in the form of a panel, said panel comprising a display device for providing visual data to the user. Said panel (10) is made of a material which is substantially opaque when it has a normal thickness (14). One area specific to the display device (15) comprises at least one transparency zone (20) wherein the thickness of the panel material is reduced relative to the thickness of the material outside said transparency zone such that light from a light source (16), for example a light-emitting diode, located behind the panel may pass through said transparency zone. Such a configuration provides backlighted panels having a closed surface. In another embodiment, the control device is in the form of a turning knob (70, 80).

Abstract: With a control device to optimize charge image generation in an electrophotographic process, a light-sensitive and temperature-sensitive photoconductor layer is exposed pixel-by-pixel with a temperature-sensitive light source. The photoconductor layer becomes more sensitive with rising temperature, such that given a predetermined light quantity it discharges deeper. With rising temperature, given the same actuating power, the light source emits a lesser luminous power. The luminous power of the light source and the discharge depth of the photoconductor layer are temperature-dependent via adjustment of the current and/or the luminous duration that flows through the light source and/or the luminous duration. During the measurement of the discharge depth, a temperature measured in the course of the measurement event is used as a reference value for the temperature compensation of the light source.
Abstract: In a process for the production of portion packs of viscous to pasty filling material such as sausage meat, grease, putty or cement and the like in a tubular film (12) which is formed prior to introduction of the filling material (10) by welding or sealing of the longitudinal edges of a film strip (1) drawn off a supply and bent into a tubular form, and into which filling material portions are discontinuously introduced under pressure, whereupon the tubular film (12) is closed with braid formation, the tubular film (12) is drawn out of the welding or sealing station towards the filling station directly by the filling pressure and film strip (1) is subsequently drawn along from the supply into the welding or sealing station.
Abstract: A method for the detection of a specific material in an object (1), especially in a piece of luggage, using electromagnetic beams, whereby the intensities of non-absorbed beams from at least three beam planes (5.1–5.2) in corresponding detector arrays (4.1–4.5) are measured and evaluated, using the following steps according to the invention: 1. generating an at least two-dimensional picture of the object (1) from the measured intensity values; 2. selecting one of the spatial regions displayed in the picture as a basis of the value of a material value, which is determined from intensity measurements, for examination; 3. determining at least one spatial-geometric value in the region to the examined from positional data of a two-dimensional picture and from intensity values using a stored value of a specific, absorption-influenced value of a suspected material. 4.

Abstract: In a device and method for electrographic printing or copying, a latent image carrier is provided having a potential pattern corresponding to an image pattern. An applicator pattern is provided that carries a liquid layer of ink spaced from a surface of the latent image carrier by an air gap. A surface of the applicator element is provided with a structure with which detachment of droplets from the liquid layer is facilitated, the structure having a plurality of first areas having an increased electrical conductivity, a plurality of second areas that differ from a remaining surface based on a portion of surface energy, and a plurality of third areas formed as microscopic elevations. A force field is applied in the air gap to act on the liquid layer. By overcoming the air gap, droplets are transferred from the liquid layer on the surface of the latent image carrier by overcoming the air gap for inking a latent image to create an inked image.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method with which speech is captured in a noisy environment with as high a speech quality as possible. To this end, a compact array of, for example, two single microphones is combined to form one system through signal processing methods consisting of adaptive beam formation and spectral subtraction. Through the combination with a spectral subtraction, the reference signal of the beam former is freed from speech signal components to the extent that a reference signal of the interference is formed and the beam former produces high gains.

Abstract: In a system for individual dosing of a medicament, in accordance with the individual pathological properties (“fingerprint”) of a patient—corresponding physiologically or genetically to the disease status—two components are provided: a medicament that is to be taken or administered in a variable individual dosage and a miniaturized indicator system that obtains information from blood, saliva or other bodily fluids and tissues of the patient and displays the information in a readable form so that the patient or the treating physician can immediately read the optimal active substance to be taken or dosage to be administered.
Abstract: In a method and device to control a print process in a printer or copier, with a character generator generating a latent print image and a latent toner marking on an image carrier. An exposure energy per unit area for the generation of the latent toner marking is decreased in comparison to an energy per unit area for generation of the latent print image. The latent print image and the latent toner marking are developed with toner in the developer station. An optical reflection sensor determines color density of the developed toner marking. Toner concentration is adjusted in a developer station dependent on a signal of the reflection sensor.
