  • Patent number: 11245592
Abstract: Various embodiments provide for the creation and validation of resource templates that may be used to provision or launch resources or resource instances. In various embodiments, a user can use values for various resource instance parameters to create a resource template, and can request validation of that template. A validation service can perform multiple validations, including independent validation of all template parameters, as well as validations of cross-parameter dependencies. If any errors are detected that cause the template to be invalid, information for those errors can be returned to the user such that the user can make the appropriate changes to enable the template to be valid. Templates can be re-validated at future times, such as at launch time or for use with a new service, to ensure the template remains valid under those circumstances.

  • Patent number: 11244437
Abstract: The complex motion associated with machines is a result of the superposition of various frequencies from the multiple component or elements inherent to the design of the machine. These motions can be captured remotely using position sensitive detectors which respond to specific wavelengths in the electromagnetic spectrum. Present embodiments include but are not limited to a video camera which is able to capture and record video data of an entire machine without contacting the machine, to visually study complex motions which vary both in time and spatially at different locations on the machine, wherein filters applied to the motion present in the video recording are used to identify frequencies of importance and to visualize their impact on the operation of the machine.

  • Patent number: 11244703
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to pretreating a magnetic recording head to increase the lifetime of the magnetic media drive. A transparent smear is purposefully formed on the magnetic recording head to ensure the magnetic recording head does not overheat and lead to a short drive lifetime. The transparent smear is formed from material found in the magnetic media. The transparent smear is formed by pretreating the magnetic recording head with the transparent material from the magnetic media. The pretreating occurs without writing any data to the magnetic media. Once the transparent smear is in place, writing may occur. The magnetic recording head can be retreated at a later time should the transparent smear degrade. Furthermore, if an optically absorbing smear develop, it can be removed and a new transparent smear may be formed.

  • Patent number: 11243867
Abstract: Techniques for modifying a user interface in which respective elements are presented if the criteria for those elements are satisfied include receiving criteria and element characteristics for a new or modified user interface element. The criteria for the new or modified element are compared to criteria for existing elements to determine other elements that could be presented contemporaneously if a request satisfying multiple sets of criteria is received. For each element with corresponding criteria, the characteristics of the element are compared to those of the new or modified user interface element to determine whether the sets of characteristics are mutually exclusive. If the characteristics are mutually exclusive, a conflict exists and information regarding the author of the existing element and the goal or rationale associated with the element may be provided to the user attempting to modify the user interface.

  • Patent number: 11243219
Abstract: A microfluidic, chip-based assay device has been developed for measuring physical properties of an analyte (particularly, whole blood or whole blood derivatives). The technologies can be applied to measure clotting times of whole blood or blood derivatives, determine the effects of anticoagulant drugs on the kinetics of clotting/coagulation, as well as evaluate the effect of anticoagulant reversal agents. These technologies can additionally be used to optimize the dosage of anticoagulation drugs and/or their reversal agents. The assay is independent of the presence of anticoagulant; clotting is activated by exposure of the blood sample in the device to a glass (or other negatively charged material such as oxidized silicon) surface, which activates the intrinsic pathway and can be further hastened by the application of shear flow across the activating materials surface.
