Abstract: A package for an integrated circuit is provided with interconnected leads within accessable recesses in the enclosure of the package. The interconnections of the leads is severed to isolate each leads from all other leads.
Abstract: An externally threaded grounded metal housing mounting a snap acting disc at a closed end is shown to receive an electrically insulative body mounting an "L" shaped movable contact member having an upstanding leg biased into contact with the internal surface of the housing wall and a laterally extending movable contact leg with a tongue cut and bent out from the leg and engageable with the snap acting disc. A terminal is pushed into a slot of the body and mounts at its free distal end a stationary contact. The mounting surface for the movable contact member is skewed relative to the lid terminal slot in order to obtain a longer effective movable contact arm.
Abstract: Disclosed is a programmable frequency converting filter having a plurality of selectable operating modes, and having frequency passbands of a unique width for each of the operating modes. The programmable frequency converting filter is comprised of a charge transfer device transversal filter, a non-sampling filter, and a frequency band selector. The transversal filter has an output lead coupled to an input of the non-sampling filter, and has clock leads coupled to the output of the frequency band selector. The frequency band selector has control leads for receiving logic signals which together select operating modes from the plurality of modes. The frequency band selector generates, on the clock leads, clocking signals having a unique frequency for each mode of the plurality.
Abstract: In a radial flow plasma reactor, where reagent gas is introduced into the reaction chamber of the plasma reactor via a gas distribution ring located on the perimeter of a heated substrate holder while diluent gas is introduced into the chamber via the holes in an annular diluent gas member disposed over an rf electrode, an upstanding peripheral shield is provided around the perimeter of the substrate holder, outboard of the reagent gas introduction ports of the gas distribution ring.
Abstract: A plasma reactor wherein material deposition on the sidewall is substantially prevented. In a radial flow reactor, wherein the reagent gases are injected at periphery of an annular substrate holder and exhausted near the center of the holder, a second gas flow of diluent gases is provided, which also flows radially to be exhausted at the center of the substrate holder. Since the diluent gas flow begins outboard of the reagent gas flow, the gas flow across the reagent gas injection nozzles prevents reagent gases from flowing outward. Thus, the gas adjacent to the chamber wall is almost entirely composed of the inert diluent gas, and material deposition on reactor walls is prevented.
Abstract: A data processing apparatus employs a single key stroke for defining a complex number entry and for designating a particular complex number calculation mode. Entry of a complex number follows the following format: entry of the first part of the complex number, entry of a complex number mode designation command, and entry of the second part of the complex number. Entry of the complex number mode designation command designates the numeric data to be assigned the first part and the second part of a complex number and also causes the data processing apparatus to enter a corresponding complex number computation mode. Thereafter, upon entry of at least some of the normal operational commands of the data processing apparatus, these operational commands are performed upon the previously entered complex numbers in accordance with the mathematical laws of complex number arithmetic. The data processing apparatus preferably generates an indication of when a complex number computation mode has been set.
Abstract: A tuning signal having a duty cycle representing a transmission frequency to be received is converted by a D/A converter to a tuning voltage which in turn is applied to a voltage variable tuning capacitance in the receiver input stage. To avoid the effects of ripple on the tuning voltage, the instantaneous d.c. level of the tuning voltage is stored on a capacitor during the tuning operation. On completion of tuning, the tuning voltage is disconnected and the stored capacitor voltage is applied to the tuning capacitance, thereby eliminating the unwanted ripple voltage. The tuning voltage produced by the D/A converter as well as that stored by the storage capacitor, are connected to the input of a voltage follower amplifier whose output is connected to the tuning capacitance. The amplifier design is such that when its input and output voltages are equal, its quiescent current is small whereas when its input and output voltages differ a current source is switched to provide a large output current.
Abstract: A circuit for use in a temperature compensated large signal current amplifier. As utilized in one embodiment, a camera exposure control compensates film reciprocity errors with a buffer amplifier. Another embodiment of the buffer amplifier includes log compression band-gap temperature compensation.
Abstract: A semiconductor memory device contains an on-chip self-incrementing counter which may be loaded from address input terminals, so that the memory cell array may be accessed using either an incoming address or the last address incremented by one. Also, the incremented last address is saved in a latch. A comparator receives the present address and incremented last address, and if these match a data output is available immediately. After a read cycle, the array is always accessed using the incremented last address, so when another fetch is initiated from the CPU, if it is for the next sequential address, the data is already available in a data ouput latch and the apparent access time is much less than that of the memory array.
Abstract: Disclosed is a process for depositing a metal film on a silicon oxide or silicon nitride surface. This process provides an extremely adherent metallic film and is resistant to interdiffusion between the semiconductor, the insulator, and the metal. The process includes forming contact openings through an insulating layer to a silicon substrate; sputter etching the insulating layer and exposed substrate; depositing layers of platinum, a barrier metal and a conducting metal; and heating to form platinum silicide in the contact openings. The process is useful in forming an electrical interconnection system on a semiconductor device.
Abstract: Metal contacts and interconnections for semiconductor integrated circuits are formed by a process of two metal depositions to increase step or sidewall coverage. After a first layer of metal is deposited, a preferential etch removes all of the metal except on the vertical sides of steps or apertures. A second layer of metal is deposited over the remaining parts of the first, resulting in smoother transistions and greater thickness at steps.
Abstract: In a clock generator circuit for a dynamic RAM or the like it is necessary to boot certain nodes to a value to above the supply voltage in order to provide a high-level gate voltage for output transistors. To prevent excess voltage on the gate oxide of a transistor connected to a booted node, a series transistor is added which has the supply voltage on its gate, so neither transistor will have the full booted voltage across its gate oxide.

This device may be used in a memory array of the PROM type. Upon breakdown, the thin oxide is perforated by small holes which fill with silicon to create short circuit.
Abstract: A programmable device is provided by a thin-oxide avalanche fuse element which is programmed at a voltage below the oxide breakdown level. This device may be used to fix the addresses of faulty rows or columns in a memory having redundant or substitute cells. Upon breakdown, the thin oxide is perforated by small holes which fill with silicon to create short circuit.
Abstract: An analog circuit for implementing nonlinear operators such as an Nth-root extractor or an Nth-power operator. Two input currents yield one output current having the relationship I.sub.1 =I.sub.k.sup.-n I.sub.2.sup.n+2, where n is a positive integer and I.sub.k is a gain setting current. When n=1 the circuit functions as a square root extractor or a squaring converter. The present circuit is readily implemented with bipolar technology and offers high speed performance and temperature stability without external compensation. Typical applications of the present circuit include RMS measurement, auto-correlation, power measurement and gain compression/expansion.
Abstract: A system for real-time digital signal processing employs a single-chip microcomputer device having separate on-chip program and data. An external program address bus allows off-chip program fetch in an expansion mode, with the opcode returned by an external data bus. A bus interchange module allows transfer between the separate internal program and data busses in special circumstances; for example, the internal program ROM may be read out on the data bus, one opcode at a time for test purposes, without executing the opcodes.
Abstract: A system displays data in a first and second alphabet selectable by the operator, the second alphabet being of the kind in which the characters differ in form according to their position in the context. The system receives data in the form of a sequence of standard binary code bytes representing alpha-numeric characters in the first alphabet, alpha-numeric characters in the second alphabet in which the characters are presented in one of the various forms possible for them in accordance with their position in the context, punctuation marks in the two alphabets, and editing functions. A display unit is connected to a ROM, both controlled by a processing unit wherein the ROM contains all of the characters of the first alphabet and all of the forms of all of the characters of the second alphabet including the form transmitted in the standard binary code and corresponding forms, depending upon their respective positions in the context.
Abstract: A non-contacting position sensor has an exciting coil in a plane and has a sensing coil in an intersecting plane so sensing coil portions are symmetrical around an exciting coil portion in mutually inductive relation to that portion of the exciting coil portions. A ferrite member magnetically shields those sensing coil portions from other portions of the exciting coil and a housing mount the sensor for relative movement with respect to magnetically permeable or electrically conductive inductance-modifier on an object whose position is to be monitored. Movement of the inductance-modifier as the object moves modifies mutual inductance between the respective sensing coil portions and the exciting coil portion so that, when the exciting coil is driven, the sensing coil provides a signal representative of the object position. If desired, an additional sensing coil is disposed in a third plane to provide X-Y position sensing.
