  • Patent number: 11687699
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for modeling sequence impedance of a modular multilevel converter (MMC) under phase locked loop (PLL) coupling. The method includes the following steps: S1, establishing a circuit topology model; S2, establishing a PLL output characteristic model; S3, establishing a PI controller output control small signal model under a dq axis; S4, deducing a modulation small signal; and S5, calculating MMC port impedance. According to the method, a precise MMC port impedance model is established by analyzing a double mirror frequency coupling effect in the output of a modulation signal in a control link caused by a phase angle disturbance and comprehensively considering the combination of the multi-harmonic coupling effect of an MMC.

  • Patent number: 11687753
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention employ frequency selective surfaces that resonate at defined frequencies depending on geometry. Tag-based embodiments allow the ability to have passive, battery-free, systems that can be used for applications including but not limited to inventory tracking, locating, and indoor radar (e.g. determining whether something labeled with a tag is in range of a particular wireless network signal). The shape of the resonator, among other available factors, influences the interference frequency. Embodiments may include metal based tags on a non-conductive material that will be used to disturb, for example, frequencies from 3 KHz to 300 GHz. These disturbances at specific resonant frequencies are useable to, for example, locate the tags/labels using WiFi Mapping, sending a WiFi signal and getting unique feedback on a router.

  • Patent number: 11684536
Abstract: A fall prevention device configured to be coupled to a person and comprising a mechanical torso configured to be coupled to the person's torso and a mechanical structure configurable to be coupled to the mechanical torso from its first end. The mechanical structure and mechanical torso resist forces at least along one direction to maintain their posture relative to each other. In operation the second end of the mechanical structure is positioned behind the person and substantially close to the ground. When the second end of the mechanical structure contacts the ground, contact points of legs of the person on the ground and contact points of the second end of the mechanical structure outline a multi-sided polygon on the ground. If the vertical projection of the center of gravity of the person to the ground intersects the ground within the multi-sided polygon, the person and fall prevention device remain stable.

  • Patent number: 11689089
Abstract: Wireless power transmission (WPT) systems are provided. For example, the WPT system can use one or more power transmitting coils and a receiver for electromagnetically coupled wireless power transfer. The electrodynamic receiver can be in the form of an electrodynamic transducer where a magnet is allowed to oscillate near a receiving coil to induce a voltage in the receiving coil, a piezoelectric transducer where the magnet causes a vibrating structure with a piezoelectric layer to move, an electrostatic transducer where movement of the magnet causes a capacitor plate to move, or a combination thereof. An alternating magnetic field from the transmitting coil(s) excites the magnet in the receiver into mechanical resonance. The vibrating magnet then functions similar to an energy harvester to induce voltage/current on an internal coil, piezoelectric material, or variable capacitor.

  • Patent number: 11684274
Abstract: A system and method is presented for cuff-less blood pressure measurement in a mobile device. A key aspect of this disclosure is the discovery of a new location for blood pressure measurement at the fingertip of a subject and that reflectance-mode photoplethysmography can be used to help make this measurement. Through experiments in human subjects, it was discovered that it is indeed possible to measure systemic blood pressure by having a subject press the fingertip against a reflectance-mode photo-plethysmography-force sensor unit under visual guidance and then compute blood pressure from the resulting variable-amplitude blood volume oscillations and applied pressure via an oscillometric algorithm.
