Abstract: A method for separating iron from an aluminium alloy comprises providing a first zone of an aluminium alloy at a first temperature at which the aluminium alloy is partially melted and any iron-containing particles therein are fully molten, and providing a second zone of the alloy at a second temperature at which the aluminium alloy is fully molten, such that a temperature gradient is created between the first zone and the second zone. By applying a static homogeneous magnetic field to the alloy, and maintaining the temperature gradient and the magnetic field for a period of time, the iron content of the first and/or second zone can be reduced.

Abstract: A method of CMP includes providing a slurry solution including ?1 per-compound oxidizer in a concentration between 0.01 M and 2 M with a pH from 2 to 5 or 8 to 11, and ?1 buffering agent which provides a buffering ratio ?1.5 that compares an amount of a strong acid needed to reduce the pH from 9.0 to 3.0 as compared to an amount of strong acid to change the pH from 9.0 to 3.0 without the buffering agent. The slurry solution is exclusive any hard slurry particles or has only soft slurry particles that have throughout a Vickers hardness <300 Kg/mm2 or Mohs Hardness <4. The slurry solution is dispensed on a hard surface having a Vickers hardness >1,000 kg/mm2 is pressed by a polishing pad with the slurry solution in between while rotating the polishing pad relative to the hard surface.

Abstract: In a method of electrospinning nanofibres, a non-conductive laminate fibre collection structure (22) is placed on the surface of a conductive collector (18, FIG. 1). The laminate structure has a base layer (26) proximal to the collector and a fibre support layer (24). A pair of spaced first apertures (32) and a second aperture (34) located between them are defined through the fibre support layer (24). A pair of spaced third apertures (38) are defined through the base layer (26), each third aperture being aligned with one of the first apertures to define an opening (40) through the laminate structure. During electro spinning, the fibre is attracted to one of the openings (40) where it forms a bridge across the respective first aperture (32). A charge in the collected fibre builds up until the fibre is repelled and it moves to the nearest lowest potential region which is the second opening on the opposite side of the second aperture (34).

Abstract: Various embodiments disclosed herein relate to systems and methods for an intelligent autonomous decision making module that maximizes the return of the most scientifically relevant dataset over the low bandwidth for experts to analyze further. A rule based knowledge extraction methodology is disclosed, guided by expert knowledge for all scientifically relevant geological landforms with respect to expert selected attributes. The datasets are subsequently prioritized based on how novel the instances are with respect to its rule and is used to update the rules. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is then determined by evaluating how acceptable the prioritization order is to experts and explaining the decisions to increase the interpretability of the assigned priority.

Abstract: For wireless communication method, a to-be-transmitting signal is divided into (n+1) packets using a key pre-agreed to by a transmitter and a receiver, where n is a positive integer. The to-be-transmitted signal comprising a regular signal and a tag signal, said tag signal forming an authentication signal. When the difference between received amplitude values of the regular signal and tag signal fail to meet a first pre-determined requirement, a first power parameter adjustment factor is determined for the n packets preceding an (n+1)th packet and a second power parameter adjustment factor is determined for the (n+1)th packet, as well as an energy-limited condition of the to-be-transmitted signal power. The transmitted power of the respective (n+1) packets is then adjusted according to the corresponding power parameter adjustment factor before the to-be-transmitted signal is transmitted.
Abstract: A cancer-specific trans-splicing ribozyme and a use thereof are disclosed. The trans-splicing ribozyme does not act on normal tissue, but is specifically expressed in cancer tissue. Therefore, it is very safe and has excellent expression efficiency at the post-transcription level, and thus can be effectively used in treatment of cancer.
