  • Patent number: 11085936
Abstract: A method and kit the simultaneous analysis of thyroid hormones (THs) and related metabolites in serum are disclosed. The method includes the extraction of THs and related metabolites, the derivatization of THs and related metabolites with 5-N-succinimidoxy-5-oxopentyl)triphenylphosphonium bromide (SPTPP), and the analysis of SPTPP derivatives using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS). Free or total THs (T3 and T4) together with their related metabolites (MIT, DIT, T0, T1, rT1, 3,3?-T2, 3,5-T2, and rT3) can be determined simultaneously, rapidly, and accurately. This invention overcomes the limitation that the traditional method can only be used for the analysis of T3 and T4 with low specificity. The invention exhibits extremely high analytical sensitivity for all of the target analytes (femtogram level).

  • Patent number: 11085891
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for detecting synthetic indole and indazole cannabinoids in a sample known or suspected to contain a synthetic indole or indazole cannabinoid in the absence of chromatography. A deuterated solvent is added to the solid sample, creating a suspension. The synthetic cannabinoid is detected in the suspension by analysis of the sample NMR spectrum. When one-dimensional proton NMR is used, detection of a first peak between 8.00 and 8.50 ppm and a second peak between 4.00 and 4.40 ppm, indicates the presence of a synthetic indole or indazole cannabinoid. When two-dimensional Correlation Spectroscopy (COSY) NMR is used, detection of a first spot between 6.50 and 9.00 ppm and a second spot between 1.50 and 4.50 ppm indicates the presence of a synthetic indole or indazole cannabinoid.

  • Patent number: 11087874
Abstract: Systems and methods for visually displaying instances of increased susceptibility for commission of medical errors are provided. Execution of programming instructions on a computer-readable medium causes a processor to retrieve historical workload data corresponding to environmental conditions experienced by and near misses associated with an individual or team of individuals during a first period of time from one or more data repositories. Retrieved workload data is processed to establish threshold limits for distinct working conditions represented within the workload data for the individual or team of individuals. Workload data corresponding to a second period of time is retrieved for the individual or team of individuals and compared to established threshold limits by the processor. Based on the comparison, the processor generates one or more displayable indicia indicative of the individual's or team of individuals' risk of committing a medical error due to an experienced workload.

  • Publication number: 20210237037
Abstract: A noble metal-free water oxidation electrocatalyst can be stable and obtained from earth-abundant materials, e.g., using copper-colloidal nanoparticles. The catalyst may contain nanobead and nanorod morphological features with narrow size distribution. The onset for oxygen evolution reaction can occur at a potential of 1.45 VRHE (?=220 mV). Such catalysts may be stable during long-term water electrolysis and/or exhibit a high electroactive area, e.g., with a Tafel slope of 52 mV/dec, TOF of 0.81 s?1, and/or mass activity of 87 mA/mg. The copper may also perform CO2 reduction at the cathode side. The Cu-based electrocatalytic system may provide a flexible catalyst for electrooxidation of water and for chemical energy conversion, without requiring Pt, Ir, or Ru.
