Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus related to light detection and ranging. In one aspect, a method comprises providing an apparatus. The apparatus comprises a LiDAR unit and a LiDAR enclosure. The LiDAR enclosure comprises a four-sided container having a square or rectangular cross-section with a first open end and a second open end comprising two opposite ends of the four-sided container. The LiDAR unit is attached to a mounting area inside the four-sided container. A reflective material is disposed on an interior of a second side and a third side of the four-sided container. Laser light is generated with the LiDAR unit. The laser light that has interacted with environment surrounding the LiDAR enclosure and that has been reflected back to the LiDAR unit is detected. The detected laser light is processed to construct an image of the environment surrounding the LiDAR enclosure.

Abstract: Reflectionless low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, band-stop, all-pass, all-stop, and multi-band filters, as well as a method for designing such filters is disclosed, along with a method of enhancing the performance of such filters through the use of unmatched sub-networks to realize an optimal frequency response, such as the Chebyshev equal-ripple response. These filters preferably function by absorbing the stop-band portion of the spectrum rather than reflecting it back to the source, which has significant advantages in many different applications. The unmatched sub-networks preferably offer additional degrees of freedom by which element values can be assigned to realize improved cutoff sharpness, stop-band rejection, or other measures of performance.

Abstract: Methods for combinatorial choice in topology optimization are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method of performing combinatorial choice in a non-linear programming problem for designing a structure includes establishing, by one or more processors, a set of K variables, wherein the set of K variables defines an K-dimensional unit cube in a normal coordinate system. The K-dimensional unit cube includes a plurality of desired vertices representing a plurality of desired combinations that satisfy a constraint and a plurality of undesired vertices representing a plurality of undesired combinations that do not satisfy the constraint. The method further includes transforming the K-dimensional unit cube into a transformed shape in a transformed coordinate system using a shape function. Values of the set of K variables cannot have a combination represented by the plurality of undesired combinations.

Abstract: Methods and reactors for electrochemically expanding a parent material and expanded parent materials are described. Current methods of expanding parent materials incompletely-expand parent material, requiring expensive and time-consuming separation of expanded parent material from unexpanded parent materials. This problem is addressed by the methods and reactor for electrochemically expanding a parent material described herein, which during operation maintain electrical connectivity between the parent material and an electrical power source. The resulting materials described herein have a greater proportion of expanded parent material relative to unexpanded parent material compared to those made according to others methods.

Abstract: A power semiconductor device including a first conductivity type semiconductor substrate, a drain metal electrode, a first conductivity type semiconductor drift region, and a second conductivity type semiconductor body region. The second conductivity type semiconductor body region includes a first conductivity type semiconductor source region and anti-punch-through structure; the anti-punch-through structure is a second conductivity type semiconductor body contact region or metal structure; the lower surface of the anti-punch-through structure coincides with the upper surface of the first conductivity type semiconductor drift region or the distance between the two is less than 0.5 ?m, so that make the device avoid from punch-through. An anti-punch-through structure is introduced at the source end of the device to avoid punch-through breakdown caused by short channel and light-doped body region.

Abstract: An electrochemical reactor for use with a liquid electrolyte is capable of generating gaseous products. An electrically conducting porous layer that is hydrophilic on the catalyst side and hydrophobic on the gas side are utilized. These different surface properties promote the transport of product gases formed at the catalyst through the porous layer to the gas side. The catalyst is formed from a hybrid Cu2O—CuBr film that has a high selectivity for ethylene gas from reacting CO2 and water in an electrochemical cell.

Abstract: Enabling quick feature delivery is essential for product success and is therefore a goal of software architecture design. But how may we determine if and to what extent an architecture is “good enough” to support feature addition and modification, or determine if a refactoring effort is successful in that features may be added more easily? The applications may use Feature Space and Feature Dependency, derived from a software project's revision history that capture the dependency relations among the features of a system in a feature dependency structure matrix (FDSM), using features as first-class design elements. The applications may also use a Feature Decoupling Level (FDL) metric that may be used to measure the level of independence among features.

Abstract: An exoskeleton includes two torque generators, thigh links, and a supporting trunk rotatably coupled to the thigh links. When a wearer bends forward in the sagittal plane such that the supporting trunk extends beyond a predetermined angle A with respect to vertical, at least one of the torque generators imposes a resisting torque between the supporting trunk and a corresponding thigh link, thus imposing a force onto a wearer's trunk and thighs to aid in supporting the wearer in a bent position. The exoskeleton may include an active or passive means for actuating the torque generators. When the supporting trunk does not extend beyond the predetermined angle A, the torque generators do not impose resisting torques between the supporting trunk and thigh links during the entire range of motion of the thigh links, thus enabling a wearer to walk, run, and sit without constraint while in a substantially upright position.
