Abstract: A multi-well plate reader device includes an opto-mechanical attachment configured to attach/detach to a portable electronic device having a camera. The reader includes a plurality of excitation illumination sources and a slot that receives a well plate. Excitation and emission filters are incorporated into the housing. Optical fibers are located in the attachment and transmit fluorescent light emitted from the wells of the well plate through an optional lens and into the camera. The optical fibers have an input end adjacent to the wells and an output end formed in a header, wherein, in one embodiment, multiple optical fibers are positioned within a cross-sectional area projection defined by the wells and wherein the output ends of optical fibers are mounted in the header. The pattern of the optical fibers is mapped to individual wells in a calibration operation and stored in a fiber map.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a multi-dimensional surface electromyogram signal prosthetic hand control method based on principal component analysis. The method comprises the following steps. Wear an armlet provided with a 24-channel array electromyography sensor to a front arm of a subject, and respectively wear five finger joint attitude sensors at a distal phalanx of a thumb and at middle phalanxes of remaining fingers of the subject. Perform independent bending and stretching training on the five fingers of the subject, and meanwhile, collect data of an array electromyography sensor and data of the finger joint attitude sensors. Decouple the data of the array electromyography sensor by principal component analysis to form a finger motion training set. Perform data fitting on the finger motion training set by a neural network method, and construct a finger continuous motion prediction model. Predict a current bending angle of the finger through the finger continuous motion model.

Abstract: An Electron Paramagnetic resonance (EPR) system and method allows the measurement paramagnetic characteristics of materials in real-time, such as heavy oil, hydrocarbons, asphaltenes, heptane, vanadium, resins, drilling fluid, mud, wax deposits or the like. The EPR systems and methods discussed herein are low cost, small and light weight, making them usable in flow-assurance or logging applications. The EPR sensor is capable of measuring paramagnetic properties of materials from a distance of several inches. In some embodiments, a window will be used to separate the EPR sensor from the materials in a pipeline or wellbore. Since the sensor does need to be in direct contact with the materials, it can operate at a lower temperature or pressure. In other embodiments, the EPR sensor may be placed in the materials.
Abstract: An effective dried attractive toxic bait station that acts as a lure and kill device for Ae. aegypti and other mosquitoes. The bait station is a simulated refuge at least part of which is coated with a dried mixture of poison and sugar forming a dried toxic sugar-containing bait. The simulated refuge attracts Ae. aegypti and other mosquitoes to bait station and encourages them to land on the coated portion. Once a mosquito has landed, it detects the sugar in the dried mixture of sugar and poison and ingests some of it. Once ingested, the dried mixture of poison and sugar will eventually kill the mosquito.

Abstract: Use of a nickel complex in preparing drugs for relieving inflammation is disclosed. Abstract: The present invention, belonging to the technical field of chemical sun-screening agent preparation, discloses a high-ultraviolet absorption lignin/chemical sun-screening agent microcapsule using lignin as a wall material and a preparation method therefor. The method of the present invention comprises the following steps: (1) dissolving 1-20 parts by weight of lignin in 100-200 parts by weight of an aqueous solution with a pH of 12, adjusting the pH of the solution to 7-10, and then removing insoluble substances by filtration to obtain a lignin solution; and (2) mixing 10-50 parts by weight of the lignin solution in step (1) with 1-10 parts by weight of a chemical sun-screening agent, and performing ultrasonic radiation under a power of 200-1500 W for 10 s to 25 min to obtain a lignin/chemical sun-screening agent microcapsule emulsion.
