  • Patent number: 4059865
Abstract: Brush bodies are held in recesses between webs for cleaning of a shoe by way of a foot mat of rubber, synthetic material or metal and the brushes project over the webs of the grate-formed mat. The brush bodies are insertable in the mat to be easily replaced when the brushes are worn whereby the wear on the basic body of the mat becomes reduced since the webs are used only for support and no longer for the cleaning function.

  • Patent number: 4041564
Abstract: An extensible scraping and brushing tool for use in removing ice and snow from vehicle windows or the like has an elongate handle provided with a scraper member at one end and has a brush assembly that is telescopically received in the handle. The brush assembly is nested in the handle when the tool is to be used as a scraper or as a brush of a relatively short length or, the brush assembly may be extended from such a first position to a second position in which the brush assembly extends beyond the handle in order that the tool may be used as a brush having an extended reach. Guide structure for reciprocably shifting the brush assembly and retaining the same in connection with the handle is formed integrally as a part of the handle and brush assembly and is of a configuration providing a relatively high degree of rigidity at the point of connection between the two when the tool is in its extended condition.

  • Patent number: 4028771
Abstract: An eraser device comprising a thin flat rubberlike erasing material and a stiff plastic holder structure therefor, the latter having a trough shape holder bottom locking together by snap clips with an inverted trough shape front cover and an inverted trough shape rear cover so as to form a clamping front end and a rear storage space. The thin flat eraser is clamped firmly at the front end so as to eliminate requirement of exerting extra force or paying special attention to the holder in order to prevent the eraser from slipping backward in the erasing operation. Additionally, the holder structure provides a smooth surface for comfortably grasping the eraser device in the hand. As the eraser front end is worn in use, it can be easily adjusted to maintain the proper protrusion by releasing the clamp action of the front cover. Refilling of long flexible thin eraser can be easily accomplished by removal of both front and rear covers.

  • Patent number: 4027388
Abstract: A thin rectangular blade of flat configuration has its two longer edges rolled or burnished to form alternatively usable sharpened edges. The blade is held in a structure which includes a handle having a concave surface against which the blade is adapted to be clamped by a convex clamping member in order to end the initially flat blade into an arcuate configuration such that the exposed scrapping edge is curved in order to reduce the likelihood that its edge portions will gouge a workpiece or the like. The blade is oriented at an angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the handle, and the radius of curvature of the bent blade is approximately twice the length of its longer edges. A screw fastener holds the clamping member to the handle and clearance is provided for the reserve, or unused scraper edge of the blade when the blade is so clamped.

  • Patent number: 4025206
Abstract: A brush caddy made up of four pieces of wire welded together. The longest piece termed a "spine" has a hook at the top from which a paint brush may be hung. Centrally a cross piece is welded to the spine to form a pair of arms ending in claws which grip the rim of a paint can. The spine is tilted away from the can so that the brush is more easily grasped and more easily placed on the hook. A third piece of wire forms a "yoke" which cooperates with the hook and the spine to support the brush in the desired slanting position with the dripping edge over the mouth of the can. The fourth piece of wire is welded across the spine at its base to embrace the can at that end. An elastic member fits over the ends of this fourth piece of wire and around the can, for added stability.
