    Abstract: The invention reduces the pin terminal number of a controller that in parallel or simultaneously accesses a synchronous memory and an asynchronous memory. When a column address is latched to an SDRAM, immediately after that, access to FLASH is started, and a shared bus controller outputs the write/read address with respect to FLASH on the address bus. Then, after the end of data transfer on the data bus, either the shared bus controller outputs the write data, or FLASH can output the read data on the data bus by means of a strobe signal. Then, the input of address is established by FLASH, and, as the shared bus controller asserts a strobe signal, either FLASH fetches the write data on the data bus, or the shared bus controller fetches the read data on the data bus.

The fast boot infrastructure may also provide the component with a way to invalidate static data and/or code, along with a background mechanism that collects static data and/or code from the system component.

    Abstract: A hot-plugging capability for video devices is achieved by shifting the responsibility for recognizing changes in the configuration of a display environment from a computer's operating system to a device manager. When an input/output device is added to or removed from the computer system, an interrupt signal informs a device manager of the fact that a change in configuration has occurred. In response thereto, the device manager determines whether the changed component relates to the computer's display function. If so, the device manager makes a call to the computer's display manager, to inform it of the fact that the display configuration has changed. In response to this call, the display manager reconfigures the display space for the computer system and notifies clients as appropriate, to accommodate display features associated with the added component. With this change in the configuration of the display space, the added component becomes immediately available for use.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for managing power in a computer system. A filter driver can be equipped with a packet monitoring function or the like detects whether devices mounted in the computer system are in the idle state. If a device is in the idle state, the power mode of the corresponding device is varied to the power down mode, independent of the system power mode state that has been set up by the operation system in the computer system. In this manner, power supplied to devices in the idle state is reduced, and it becomes possible to have a more efficient control over the load of the computer system. Overall, preferred embodiments according to the present invention can be very advantageously used for developing and expanding the computer system more simply by adding the filter driver into the system, without changing a device driver in the computer system.

The hardware abstraction level includes a frequency adjusting module (130) for adjusting a current CPU frequency in a flash memory (14) with the new CPU frequency input by the user; and a data accessing module (131) for storing the adjusted CPU frequency in the flash memory, and reading the adjusted CPU frequency from the flash memory in order to display the adjusted CPU frequency on the user interface. The CPU frequency adjusting system can reduce the complexity of the hardware abstraction level, and is compatible with different types of BIOSs.

The first circuit stops supplying the power supply from the first circuit to the second circuit via the switch 32 in the case where the first circuit receives a suspend signal from the host computer to become a standby mode.

    Abstract: A system and system for automatic voltage calibration is presented. A voltage calibration system includes three main units, which are a voltage level trimming unit, a trim detection unit, and a trim control unit. The three units work in conjunction with each other during a trimming operation in order to identify a tap voltage that is closest to a target voltage. In one embodiment, the voltage calibration system may be used to calibrate a voltage regulator. Upon commencement of calibration, the voltage regulator's feedback loop is open, and the target voltage is selected as the input for the feedback port of the amplifier. The voltage regulator serves as a voltage comparator that compares each tap voltage to the target voltage. When the calibration is complete, regulator's feedback loop is closed and the closest tap voltage to the target voltage is used as the regulator's input.
