  • Patent number: 6043518
Abstract: Disclosed in this invention is a new four-terminal type and multiple delta-doped transistors with multiple functions grown by low-pressure metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (LP-MOCVD). All the epilayers are grown on n.sup.+ -GaAs substrates. The real-space transfer transistors (RST), the collector is located under the substrate, reveal very strong negative differential resistance phenomena. The RST structure using an InGaAs channel manifests superior characteristics of a very high peak-to-valley current ratio up to 430,000 at room temperature, a peak current as high as 100 mA, very sharp charge injection, and a valley current as broad as 5.5V. Meanwhile, high performance heterostructure field effect transistors can be implemented on the same wafer by further evaporating a gate between source and drain electrodes. In order to significantly reduce leakage current, an ohmic recession is made at the source and drain.

  • Patent number: 6039889
Abstract: Processes for forming conductive vias between circuit elements formed on either side of a flexible substrate are disclosed. In one embodiment, the inventive process starts with a flexible film polyimide substrate on each side of which is arranged a layer of copper. Both of the copper surfaces are coated with photoresist. Blind vias are then drilled through the top copper layer and substrate using a laser. The photoresist is then exposed (patterned). A plating operation is used to fill the vias with a conductive material. The resist is then developed and the line and pad structures on the surface of the copper layer are plated. The photoresist is then stripped. In a variation of this embodiment, the photoresist is imaged prior to drilling of the vias using a laser. In an alternative embodiment of the inventive process, a through hole is drilled instead of a blind via.

  • Patent number: 6041364
Abstract: A method and system for adding device entries to a device tree is disclosed. When the computer system detects the connection of a device, the computer system searches a device tree to determine if the device is being connected for the first time. If so, a device entry for the device, including a device type and at least one device function, is added to the device tree. Using the device type and at least one device function, the system searches a match tree to identify at least one first sequence of instructions to execute when the device is connected for the first time. The first sequence of instructions modifies the device entry to associate at least one software category with the device. The first sequence of instructions may: (1) modify the device entry to include at least one software component to be notified when the device is connected; and/or (2) modify the device entry to associate with each software category at least one software component to be used with the device.

  • Patent number: 6036056
Abstract: An automatic soap dispensing device, particularly a device which can be activated by photoelectric or infrared sensor via a control circuit, i.e., a motor reducing gear set in a drive device driving a drive wheel with a considerable torque at low speed so that an eccentric wheel on the drive wheel can push a squeezer set which in turn squeeze a soap hose to dispense liquid soap accordingly; and a micro switch is touched when the drive wheel is rotated to a certain angle to stop the motor, upon which the squeezer set returns its initial position by the inherent elasticity of the hose without any need to engage any gear with the reducing gear set and possibility of seizure between gears which may adversely affect operation of the soap dispensing device.

  • Patent number: 6037908
Abstract: A low cost microwave antenna. Microwaves are radiated from or collected by a thin layer radiating-collecting microwave guide section in which a dielectric slab is sandwiched between a metallic bottom plate and a metallic radiating-collecting cover plate. The cover plate contains a large number of slots spaced to produce outgoing or define incoming microwaves beams having directions determined: (1) by the directions of propagation of microwave radiation within the radiating-collecting microwave section and (2) by the frequency of the radiation. In a collection mode, a microwave lens focuses microwave radiation propagating in the waveguide section at focal locations which are dependent on the direction of propagation of the radiation in the waveguide. Alternatively, in a radiation mode, the lens converts microwave energy broadcast from said focal locations into parallel beams propagating in the radiating-collecting microwave guide section.
