  • Publication number: 20090104122
Abstract: Disclosed are methods to detect agents that modulate a membrane androgen receptor (mAR). In one embodiment, the invention provides a method to detect and optionally identify mAR binding ligands. One assay according to the invention detects agents that selectively bind the mAR relative to binding to the classical intracellular androgen receptor (iAR or AR). The invention has a wide spectrum of useful applications including providing a method of screening libraries for chemical entities that preferentially bind the mAR.

  • Publication number: 20090089565
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for configuring a device based on proximity to another device. A user device is configured by obtaining one or more configuration rules that establish one or more configuration parameters of the user device based on a proximity to one or more additional general purpose devices; determining whether one or more of the configuration rules are satisfied; and configuring the user device based on the satisfied one or more configuration rules. The configuration rules can be configured by an authorized user of the user device. The proximity comprises a predefined physical relationship between devices that is based on distance, such as a radius around a given device, or a physical relationship, such as in the same room or building, or within a communication range of a device.

  • Publication number: 20090024299
Abstract: The operation of a fuel injector for an internal combustion engine is controlled, wherein the fuel injector has an on time comprising a pull-in time during which injector current increases to a pull-in current followed by a hold time during which the injector current is limited to a hold current that is less than the pull-in current. A control circuit receives a pressure signal from a pressure sensor that corresponds to a pressure of fuel supplied to the fuel injector for injection into the engine, correlates the pressure signal with fuel pressure, and decreases the pull-in time with increasing fuel pressure.

  • Publication number: 20080224417
Abstract: A fluid control device for use in a high pressure fluid system, the device including a device body with a cavity and a high pressure circuit, a plunger positioned for reciprocal movement in the cavity, and a leakage reduction cap mounted to the plunger for reducing fluid leakage flow. In one implementation, the leakage reduction cap includes a flexible portion positioned between the device body and the plunger, and defining an annular clearance gap between the leakage reduction cap and the device body. The flexible portion of the leakage reduction cap resiliently flexes radially outwardly in response to fluid pressure forces to reduce the annular clearance gap so as to minimize fluid leakage flow through the annular clearance gap.

  • Publication number: 20070026360
Abstract: A tapered endodontic rotary file for shaping or cleaning a root canal in a tooth has one or more flutes spiraling along the length of the file. The diameters of the one or more flutes tapers in a non-uniform manner from a first diameter in a shank portion of the file to a smaller diameter in a tip portion of the file such that at least one flute region intermediate the shank portion and the tip portion has a diameter less than a straight line taper from the shank portion to the tip portion. The flutes can also be landed and the width of the lands can be varied along the length of the file. In particular, the width of the lands in the intermediate region are wider than the width in the tip or shank portion.
