  • Publication number: 20140043870
Abstract: A voltage source inverter comprises a zigzag transformer providing a neutral point. A rectifier unit comprises three single phase boost converters each connected to one of the three phases of AC power and the neutral point and comprising a bridge rectifier converting single phase AC power to DC power and using a boost inductor with a boost switch and blocking diode to develop a DC output. An inverter receives DC power and converts DC power to AC power. A link circuit is connected between each boost converter DC output and the inverter circuit and comprises a DC bus having first and second rails to provide a relatively fixed DC voltage for the inverter and a DC bus capacitance across the first and second rails to smooth voltage ripple. A switch controller controls operation of the boost switches using average current control for each of the boost converters.

  • Publication number: 20140044352
Abstract: In some embodiments, color and contrast enhancement video processing may be done in one shot instead of adjusting one of color and contrast enhancement, then the other, and then going back to the first one to readjust because of the second adjustment. In some embodiments, global lightness adjustment, local contrast enhancement, and saturation enhancement may be done at the same time and in parallel. Lightness adjustment improves visibility of details for generally dark or generally light images without changing intended lighting conditions in the original shot, and is used to enhance the range of color/saturation enhancement. Local contrast enhancement done in parallel improves visual definition of objects and textures and thus local contrast and perceived sharpness.

  • Patent number: 8648706
Abstract: An alarm management system having an escalation strategy which may be applied to each state of an alarm and increase a level of escalation if a required action has not been taken in response to an alarm. This approach is for avoiding an overlooking of any alarms and for assuring closure of alarms as soon as possible. An alarm may be in one of several intermediate states. Each state may have a threshold which if exceeded escalates an alarm's urgency. Alarm notifications may be provided to recipients according to their preferences.

  • Publication number: 20140040543
Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention includes a processor that has an on-die storage such as a static random access memory to store an architectural state of one or more threads that are swapped out of architectural state storage of the processor on entry to a system management mode (SMM). In this way communication of this state information to a system management memory can be avoided, reducing latency associated with entry into SMM. Embodiments may also enable the processor to update a status of executing agents that are either in a long instruction flow or in a system management interrupt (SMI) blocked state, in order to provide an indication to agents inside the SMM. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

  • Publication number: 20140040851
Abstract: Systems and techniques are described for optimizing a circuit design. Specifically, gate sizes in the circuit design are optimized by iteratively performing a set of operations that include, but are not limited to: selecting a portion of the circuit design (e.g., according to a reverse-levelized processing order), selecting an input-to-output arc of a driver gate in the portion of the circuit design, selecting gates in the portion of the circuit design for optimization, modeling a gate optimization problem based on the selected input-to-output arc of the driver gate and the selected gates, solving the gate optimization problem to obtain a solution using one or more solvers, and discretizing the solution. Discretizing the solution involves identifying library cells that exactly or closely match the gate sizes specified in the solution. These library cells can then be used to model other gate optimization problems in the current or subsequent iterations.

  • Publication number: 20140036663
Abstract: In a system including a first autonomous system (AS) configured to have a first gateway router forward data associated with a set of IP address prefixes, to a second AS via a link to a first eBGP peer device of the second AS, the problem of data packets dropped at an output of the first gateway router while the link is still “up” and an eBGP session between the first gateway router and the first eBGP peer is still up, is solved by (1) receiving information about dropped data packets at an output of the first gateway router, (2) determining whether a data traffic offload condition exists using the received information, (3) changing path attribute(s) of at least some of the IP address prefixes of the set if a data traffic offload condition exists, such that the first gateway router will be less likely to forward data associated with those IP address prefixes, and (4) generating a BGP update message including the changed path attribute(s) for communication to at least one iBGP peer device in the first AS.

  • Patent number: 8645323
Abstract: An approach for replicating data is provided. A job that modifies data objects in a first system to generate a first set of changed data objects is determined to be a candidate for a job replication. Based on the job being a candidate for job replication, attributes of the job are retrieved, the retrieved attributes are sent to a second system, and an execution of the job by the second system is initiated as part of the job replication. The execution of the job causes data objects included in the second system to be modified to generate a second set of changed data objects as a replication of the first set of changed data objects.

  • Publication number: 20140033162
Abstract: Systems and techniques are described for optimizing a circuit design by using a numerical solver. The gates sizes are optimized by modeling a set of gate optimization problems and solving the set of gate optimization problems by using a numerical solver. Modeling each gate optimization problem can include selecting a portion of the circuit design that includes a driver gate that drives one or more inputs of each gate in a set of gates, and modeling a gate optimization problem for the portion of the circuit design based on circuit information for the portion of the circuit design. A differentiable objective function for delay can be created using numerical models for the delays in the circuit. In some embodiments, gradients of the differentiable objective function can be computed to enable the use of a conjugate-gradient-based numerical solver.
