  • Patent number: 8609433
Abstract: A sample compressor applies pressure to a sample collector and a sample application zone of a test strip to transfer a sample from the sample collector and a binding partner of an analyte to the sample application zone in a lateral flow device. At least one of the binding partners of the analyte is not located on the test strip prior to use of the lateral flow device. The test strip may be a universal test strip with no molecule that specifically binds the analyte is located on the test strip. The sample compressor may be a universal sample compressor also with no molecule that specifically binds the analyte on the sample compressor. The lateral flow device may also include one or more enhancement elements, where the enhancement elements bind to the analyte sandwich to increase a detection signal in the test zone.

  • Publication number: 20130332597
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for global server load balancing in a communication network using a global site selector and an application control engine in communication with the global site selector, in which the application control engine notifies the global site selector in response to a state change for a virtual internet protocol (VIP) address. Keepalive methods generally rely on periodically polling VIP addresses to check whether they are in an ONLINE or OFFLINE state. A minimum interval between two keepalives can be as long as 40 seconds, during which, without a mechanism to reflect state change to the load balancer in real time, if a VIP address changes state (e.g., VIP address failure), a customer can experience network outage during the time interval. Embodiments provide a mechanism to reflect, in real time, the current VIP address state to a global server load balancer to reduce failure detection time.

  • Patent number: 8605469
Abstract: A voltage source inverter comprises a rectifier having an input for connection to a multi-phase AC power source and converting the AC power to DC power at an output. An inverter receives DC power and converts the DC power to AC power. A DC bus is connected between the rectifier circuit and the inverter circuit to provide a relatively fixed DC voltage for the inverter. A bus capacitor is across the DC bus. A soft charge circuit limits inrush current to the bus capacitor. The soft charge circuit comprises an input inductor for each phase connected between the rectifier input and the AC power source and a clamping circuit across each input inductor to limit DC bus voltage.

  • Publication number: 20130326449
Abstract: Systems and techniques for incrementally updating Elmore pin-to-pin delays are described. During operation, an embodiment receives a representation of a physical topology of a routed net that electrically connects a driver pin to a set of load pins. The embodiment then computes a set of incremental Elmore delay coefficients based on the representation. Next, using the Elmore delay coefficients, the embodiment computes a set of delays based on the representation, wherein each delay in the set of delays corresponds to a delay between the driver pin and a corresponding load pin in the set of load pins. As load pin capacitances change during circuit optimization, the set of incremental Elmore delay coefficients can then be used to update the delays between the driver pin and the load pins in a very computationally efficient manner.

  • Patent number: 8600771
Abstract: Certain embodiments present a system for generating a medical teaching file message. An image identifier labels medical images based upon information pertaining to user interaction with the image. The system also provides an image search engine that scans and indexes images within a database based on a set of rules. The image search engine generates a subset of images from a larger group of medical images within a database based upon the rules. The system also includes a supporting data selection engine for accepting a free text search query from an interface. The supporting data selection engine scans medical databases based on the free text search query, and provides the supporting data search results via an interface. A teaching file message is generated either automatically or manually from the subset of images and the supporting data search results for transmission to a teaching file.

  • Publication number: 20130318488
Abstract: Methods and systems for excluding library cells are described. Some embodiments receive a generic logical effort value and optionally a generic parasitic delay value for a timing arc of a library cell type. Next, library cells of the library cell type are excluded whose specific logical effort values for the timing arc are greater than the generic logical effort value by more than a first threshold and/or optionally whose specific parasitic delay values for the timing arc are greater than the generic parasitic delay value by more than a second threshold. A new generic logical effort value and optionally a new generic parasitic delay value can be determined based on at least some of the remaining library cells. The process of excluding library cells and determining new generic logical effort values and optionally new generic parasitic delay values can be performed iteratively.

  • Patent number: 8595073
Abstract: A system and method for determining the identity of a product and then calculating an offer price for the product are disclosed. The identity of the product may be determined using near-field communication in one aspect. The system and method are operable to enable retailers to provide a lowest price for the product and conduct a series of offer calculations to determine an offer for a consumer. The offer is based, in part, on costs to the consumer in executing the transaction (e.g., travel time, fuel, etc.). The offer may be higher than the lowest price as determined by each retailer, respectively, while still providing a discount to the consumer to entice a purchase of the product.
