  • Publication number: 20140144751
Abstract: A coin blank provides an inner portion and at least one outer portion surrounding the inner portion. A dielectric isolation layer is arranged between the inner portion and the outer portion and connects the inner portion and the outer portion in a force-locking manner. The isolation layer is transparent in a first wavelength range and may be based on a transparent polymer. • Patent number: 8708222
Abstract: A method for producing a finishing layer containing a window (104) for a portable data storage medium, in particular a chip card, and the use of the method for producing a data storage medium. A transparent plastic-based support layer (28) is used and an opaque color layer (30) is applied on the support layer in a screen printing process, wherein the color layer (30) has a recess (32) having the dimensions of the window (104). A first layer (40) of a transparent primer is then screen printed onto the color layer and a design color layer (50) is then applied in an offset printing process onto the first layer. A second layer (60) of a transparent primer is applied in an offset printing process on top of the design color layer (50) and a transparent finish (70) is finally applied onto the second layer (60).

  • Publication number: 20140015704
Abstract: This invention describes an application and its methodology to protect a target against a minimum of one attacking missile through timely optimized ship maneuvers by using known RCS calculations against radar and/or infrared guided missiles. This application also provides the necessary measurement and analysis abilities of the many possible positions, or physical constraints a ship may need to be in, in order to significantly increase the effectiveness of current shipborne “state of the art” soft-kill systems against attacking unmanned missiles.

  • Patent number: 8605526
Abstract: Rather than merely carrying out a BIST test by verifying whether a memory cell accurately stores a “1” or “0” under normal read/write conditions, aspects of the present discloser relate to BIST tests that test the read and/or write margins of a cell. During this BIST testing, the read and/or write margins can be incrementally stressed until a failure point is determined for the cell. In this way, “weak” memory cells in an array can be identified and appropriate action can be taken, if necessary, to deal with these weak cells.

  • Patent number: 8488103
Abstract: An optical element (1a, 1b) for reflecting UV radiation at an operating wavelength below 250 nm, preferably at 193 nm, which has a substrate (2a, 2b), a reflective layer (3a, 3b) made of aluminum superimposed on the substrate (2a, 2b). The reflective aluminum layer (3a, 3b) is not transparent to UV radiation and is (111)-plane oriented. The reflective optical element (1a, 1b) has a reflectivity of more than 85%, preferably of more than 88%, and even more preferably of more than 92%, in a range of incident angles of at least 10°, preferably of at least 15°, at the operating wavelength. Also disclosed is an optical element having a reflective layer made from a material having a melting point higher than that of aluminum, as well as methods for producing such optical elements, and optical arrangements incorporating such optical elements.

  • Patent number: 8371075
Abstract: For uncoupling a building structure from the ground a sliding pendulum bearing is suitable for the protection of building structures in the case of movements of the ground, due to earthquakes for example, or as an alternative for conventional deformation bearings. The bearing has a first sliding face with a first concave sliding face and a sliding shoe, which is in sliding contact with the first sliding face of the first sliding plate. A low friction material of a low-friction plastic is entrapped in the sliding shoe which has elastoplastic equilibrium properties. In particular as a low friction material a ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) or polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is utilized. After a displacement entailed by an external force the sliding shoe returns of its own accord into a stable equilibrium position.

  • Patent number: 8121859
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system to control and optimize clinical pathways of a plurality of patients within a medical facility as well as across several medical facilities. The method of controlling and optimizing pathways uses real-time localization devices for patients, resources, such as clinical images and employees of the medical facility (e.g. a service technician, a senior consultant or the like). Based on the local position of patients, staff members and/or resources, the system proposes a medical system that generates clinical pathways for patients, is adapted to change clinical pathways and to provide schedules for patients as well as the use of resources. The invention provides further means of real-time information of patients about changes in their schedule. The method provided enables a medical facility to streamline their processes and to increase patient throughput.

  • Publication number: 20120020145
Abstract: A semiconductor device includes an identification circuit. The identification circuit includes a memory cell which includes a first transistor having a first value of a switching characteristic and a second transistor having a second value of the switching characteristic. The identification circuit is operable to generate a memory-cell-specific identification bit which is dependent on production-dictated differences in the first switching characteristic of the first transistor and the second switching characteristic of the second transistor. The identification circuit further includes a drive circuit for the memory cell. The drive circuit is operable to connect or isolate an upper supply potential and a lower supply potential of the semiconductor device to or from the memory cell independently of one another.
